The initial consultation went well to get the estimate. The crew that put the posts in did a good job and placed the dirt pile where I wanted it. HOWEVER, when they cleaned their wheelbarrow of cement, they dumped it onto the dirt pile. My two toddlers thank you for the ENDLESS fun they are having finding rocks in my yard. The crew that placed the fence did a good job with that, however they trampled one of my service berry bushes that was 2 feet away from the fence line. I don't know if it is going to make it as there are many broken branches. THANKS! The lack of respect for people's property is disappointing.

We were looking forward to using Midwest since a friend had a great experience. Unfortunately, we weren't so lucky. The estimator (Dan) and I agreed on a time to give the estimate but he came on the wrong day. I texted to say it was the following Friday and didn't hear back so I assumed he was still coming. On the following Friday, Dan didn't show up and never contacted me. After emailing, calling his cell and texting with no reply, I finally got a hold of him by calling the office and having them track him down. He was able to give the estimate since he took measurements when he was at the house, but I've called and emailed asking him to get in contact because I don't know exactly the scope of work included (what does the "standard walking gate" look like? we want to remove the old fence ourselves, what do they need us to do?). No response and their price was higher than others, so needless to say, we're having the job done by someone else.

From start to finish it was not an easy process and we are not happy with the results. The consultation with the salesman Ron was very quick and sloppy the first time around so we had to have him come back. When he came back the estimate with drawing still did not accurately reflect the correct number of gates, etc. When things are sloppy and inaccurate from the beginning, of course I began worrying about the whole process. Eventually our fence was installed and needless to say, we have $1,000 worth of repair to do to our sprinkler system. Of course we expected some damage to the sprinkler system, but $1,000? Also, when it was all complete one of the gentleman asked why we did the fence the way it was done. Our response was that this is what Ron told us we would have to do based on the clearance we had. The problem with this is that they do not come back out to take a look at anything after your yard pins are exposed and the true yard lines are know, therefore we would have had the clearance we needed if that had been done. Since we went the other route based on the original direction from the company, it cost us extra also due to needing more length of fence. When I called the company to report my concerns I waited for 2 weeks to receive a call back. Ron called me back and I was basically told that the sprinkler damage is not their fault because it says so in their Customer Responsibilities paperwork. The placement of the fence was blamed on us since we did not tell the guys where to poor the footings when they came to install the fence. Strange, considering that is what I am paying them to do? All in all, if we had to do over we would have gone with Dakota Fence. Their original consultation was much more reassuring even though the cost would have been just slightly higher.

I had a chain linked fence installed about 10 years ago by Midwest Fence. A tree fell on the fence and crushed it. I called Midwest Fence & Manufacturing Company to get a quote for repair. They came out on June 22nd and provided me with an estimate. Today is August 18, 2015 and they still have not repaired my fence. They told me that they just no order the parts. When I talk with the company it seems that they are constantly telling me what they CAN'T do. They are a Can't Do company. From the receptionist to the sales person they tell me what they can't do. I have to use this company because they are the company that installed it. If anyone else works on the fence I will lose the warranty.

I would not give them a very high rating. They are a huge company but I didn?t like their attitude. It was like if you didn?t catch it, it is not their responsibility. I was frustrated that there were things they said they would do but failed to do it. The product they put in which you can get at Home Depot was great and I was totally happy with that. They were so eager to get the cheque and once they got it, they were not willing to do the things I expected them to do. They were the worst company I have dealt with. I didn?t catch that they placed the fence at the wrong wall and they were not willing to correct it and said that it was my fault. I would not use them again. The gate did not open well and they would charge me another $500 just to fix it. It was just the opposite of what they sales person said and everything I talked to him about the work versus what the workers did. They are a company where I can the product to them but have another people work on it. I didn?t like their attitude and they were unpleasant. What we talked about regarding the work was very good but the reality was different. They are a huge company but they are not very good. Their product is good and the fence is solid and secure but there were things done not right. I thought that their price was too high and I didn?t get what I paid for.

The day we received our estimate for the cost of the backyard fence, we put in our 10% down payment. We were told it would be about a 5 week waiting period, it ended up being 10 weeks before the crew started digging. There had been a lot of rain so it was understandable that jobs were pushed back but there was no communication from the company to notify us about the delay or update us on an estimated new time frame. When we were finally on the schedule, we were told the crew would come out to dig/put in the posts and then the fence should be completed in a week. The fence was not completed until 2 weeks later, and again, no communication from the company about the delay. The crews were great, very friendly and talked us through what they were doing. They were quick and did a great job with the fence and we are pleased with the work. There was a removable panel that was missed but they came out right away to correct it. Overall, we are satisfied with the work but the communication could had been a little better.

Did not have the do work due to issues encounter with work they did at other neighbors.
Description of Work: Had them provide me an estimate but went with different provider. Midwest did fences for a couple of neighbors above me. They dumped all their tailings and rocks from the post holes they drilled under my evergreens even dumping wheel barrows of dirt and clay on top of lay hanging branches. This happened twice. During the second event I called their office and they declined to do anything about it or even have their staff stop dumping on my property. My wife went up to speak with the workers and was treated very rudely and they made fun of her and laughed as she walked back to our house. Very unprofessional. Will never give these guys any good press, in fact I will openly recommend the company I did employ to install my fence.

I had 3 quotes. Midwest was in the mid range in terms of cost. However, I had seen many of their fences around and clearly in good shape after a long time. So we decided to go with Midwest based on the quality and the fences around the area. Waited about 3 weeks before the project started. They let us know when they were installing the posts. Everything went well. We were not informed about when they were coming back for the completion of the project. Luckily, I was home from work on the day they came, otherwise, would not have known. Other than that, all went well with the install and we are extremely pleased with the completed fence.

First, I'll start with the good -They quoted the best price, the next closest quote (out of four total contractors) was $300-400 more. -The finished fence is beautiful, the installers did great work. -The salesperson was very knowledgeable. The bad -I wanted to modify my project and contacted my salesperson 3 times without a call back. Eventually called the office and told them to cancel the job as I was not hearing back from anyone. Got a call back shortly after that. -When the post holes were dug, they did it completely wrong, instead of going up, around and down the side of a tree stump, they went up, around and then created a diagonal line, it looked pretty ridiculous. To give them credit, they came back out immediately after the weekend and fixed everything. They were also very polite about it. -I was quoted 4-5 weeks for the job to get started, it ended up being closer to 6-7 weeks. Would I use them again? Maybe, I really do like the finished product, it looks great. Even with the communication issues, everything was done correctly in the end and they didn't complain or give me any hassle when I wanted some adjustments made.

Midwest Fence was great! The salesman was very professional and knew his stuff. We decided to go with a wood privacy fence. We we're really impressed with the crews that came out as well. They were fast and professional. It didn't take long until we had the posts in the ground. After the concrete was ready, another great crew came and before we knew it, the fence was up. The whole experience was great!

Midwest installed a beautiful fence that completely fell apart by the 4th year. When I had another contractor out to look at it he just shook his head, said it should be under warranty and he wouldn't even know where to start. Midwest had to replace 2/3rds of our fence but I now have to pay to have it stained again AND they refuse to cover the post that frost heaved after one year of replacement. This was their reply to my request: Carmen, Please see the attached warranty for Midwest Fence. This warranty is printed on the back of the green sheet you received at the time of signing your contract. Midwest Fence does not warranty posts for frost heave since the ground conditions and ultimate effect seasonal changes can have on posts set in the ground are literally beyond our control. Also, Midwest Fence does not warranty replacement paints or stains on the fences we install. We warranty the base fence materials and workmanship within the warranty period. We are pretty pleased with the process and the work. We initially contacted them in May and the work was completed by June. They were pretty clear in their communications when they initially did the estimate. It was a little frustrating to have to get my yard surveyed and all that. For some reason, I thought that would be part of their service. They were clear in communicating that it would happen in stages. They did the estimate and then they dug the holes. Then they set the posts, and then they actually put up the fence. That happened over multiple dates, but they were very clear about the process.

Sales rep Derek listened to my specific needs, offered suggestions, and it was perfect; punctual - tore down/removed/cleaned up & set posts quickly & efficiently --- 4 days later called to inform me they would be back next day to put up wood fence & chain link gates, etc.; they made an awesome wood "removable" section so I could get behind the wood fence easily & it looks great !!! definitely would recommend them -- all crews were great and I am EXTREMELY PLEASED. Doing the "happy dance".

I recieved an estimate from Midwest for a new fence, and it was $800 more than their competition. I was pretty astounded by the price difference and was told it was because of their concrete. (They do not use quick setting concrete). After getting several other estimates, I am pretty sure that the estimators math was way off, or they never wanted the job in the first place. They may do great work, but I wish they had said that they were too busy for my job, it that was the case.

Midwest Fence had replaced a wood fence for us in the past. We were satisfied with the work done then, and I'd seen examples of their chainlink fence work around my neighborhood, so I called them when I needed my damaged chainlink fence replaced. They were easy to deal with and flexible with their scheduling. The job involved two steps: removing the old fence and setting new posts, and then returning a week later to install the new fence. This work was done by two different crews. Both crews showed up promptly on time and were easy to work with. After the new fence was installed, I wasn't 100% with the appearance of one section that included a gate. The heights between the gate and surrounding fence wasn't even. This portion of the fence was on a slight slope, making things a bit more difficult. I called MWF with my concern and even sent a photo to describe what I was talking about. I was told they'd have a crew come out to fix the problem. While waiting for their call, I raised the height of the gate myself and it made a big difference in the appearance. I decided I didn't want MWF to try to fix something that wasn't that much of a problem. The quality of the work done was pretty good, but a couple minor things would have made the whole experience better and earned them an A rating from me. My first complaint was they could have done a better job cleaning up. I found several pieces of metal in the yard from the chainlink fence. I realize bits can be overlooked, but there were enough that I feel they should have caught them. They also left a large orange plastic mesh laying in my front yard. It had been used to support my wood fence while the cement for the replaced post was setting up. These are little things, but with 2-3 people on the work crew, they shouldn't have trouble finding the time to scan the area when finished to be sure all the mess is cleaned up. The only other complaint I have is turn-around on communication once I'd called to say I wasn't 100% satisfied with the chainlink fence was pretty slow. I'd expect only a day or two for a reply to a phone call or email. Perhaps it was miscommunication and they didn't realize I was expecting a reply, but A-level customer service goes the extra mile. So, overall, I'm satisfied with the work. I'd call them in the future and would recommend them to others. The only suggestion would be to tighten up communication and tell the work crews to be a bit more careful in their cleanup at the end of the job.

Ryan was very nice when he came out to give us an estimate and, although it was higher than another company we were looking at, we went with Midwest because they could get the job done for the lower price in 4-5 weeks (vs. 6-7). It was a little frustrating that we didn't get on the schedule for another 4 days after I called him back because he was on a trip and couldn't come finish the paperwork. I called 3 weeks later because we hadn't heard anything about setting up an installation date and Ryan told us that was done a week ahead of time. Our scheduler (Paula?) was extremely rude to me on the phone, basically laughed at me while telling me it was going to be a few more weeks. The next issue occurred when I tried to contact our scheduler again about our building company pushing to install sod. When I didn't hear back from her, we had to let them install it, which meant we couldn't get the fence for another two weeks. Naturally, she called the day after asking if the following Wednesday would work for the fence. I told her no because we had to go ahead with the sod. She then became very rude, claiming she had called and told me that they were looking at a certain week and that we shouldn't have had the sod installed. I tried to tell her that I hadn't heard from her since I called two weeks before and that I was definitely never told a date. I also brought up the fact that we signed the paperwork the same day as our neighbors and Ryan said the jobs wouldbe done together (yes, we got them a SECOND job by suggesting Midwest to our neighbors). Rudely, she told me he never specified that anywhere in the paperwork and she had no idea what I was talking about. Great. Of course, when she called back with their availability for the next week, she was overly nice like nothing had ever happened (CLEARLY realizing we hadn't talked). I have to say, the installation crew was extremely nice. We had an issue with a storm drain on the property line but it was resolved quickly and they went to work right away. Some things we weren't happy with: 1. The crew didn't pay very much attention to the sprinklers, even though we clearly had them flagged. At least two were buried under the sand placed around the posts and I had to dig to find them. 2. They left some fairly large gaps under a couple of the vinyl sections, causing us to worry about leaving our dog out...which kind of defeats the purpose of getting the fence. 3. They left a ton of sand around the posts, it was very messy. We've had the fence up for a month and our dog STILL digs in the sand around them. 4.We had the posts installed on a Tuesday and the rest was supposed to be installed on Saturday. Everyone showed up EXCEPT the gate crew and, when I called the office, I was informed that none of the schedulers were there and it would have to wait until Monday. Having a dog, the fence is useless without a gate so that was frustrating. When I called on Monday, I was sent to a male scheduler who informed me he would "try to get a crew out by the end of the week." Uh, NO. Apparently the office has an issue with communicating with the crews because our gates were installed that day, but the male scheduler still called back saying they would be out the next day. Also, our neighbors purchased two gates and the crew brought one in the wrong color, which they didn't come back to replace for another couple of days so that was annoying for them. Overall,we were disappointed with our experience. For the price you pay (and we even paid upfront), you would think you'd get better service and finished product (less messy, no gaps, etc.). Not impressed!
