irrigation systems
  + -1 more
The irrigation system was not installed correctly on 7/3/08 and it has NEVER worked due to the company not flushing the system properly and has resulted in clogged valves and drip lines. The owner's only response has been that it is not his responsibility. He wanted to charge us for any service calls even though the system was warranted for one year. The industry standard for installation of an irrigation system being run off of well water is to flush the debris and sediments from the well holding tank inside the house to prevent it from clogging valves and drip lines. This important step was not done by the irrigation company. In fact, the owner is not even aware that this flushing on installation is needed. The owner blames the failed system on me for not disclosing to him at the consultation that we had manganese in our well water. He did not ask me if we had manganese in our well water and I had no way of knowing we had manganese. He didn't tell me we were responsible for knowing what was in our well water. And no customer would assume an irrigation company was relying on the customer to be the expert on well water. He says he properly installed the irrigation system to treat rust. There were also rust sediments in the well holding tank and he did not follow the correct procedure for rust since part of the procedure is to flush the rust sediments. What ruined the system is him not flushing the system. Even if the word "manganese" had popped into my head and we told him about it, the end result would have remained the same: Since he wasn't aware of the industry standard of flushing out the system, I'd still be sitting here with a $7200 system that doesn't work. The owner is blaming me for his lack of knowledge of his industry.

Response from QUALITY ONE AUTOMATION INC
Thank you for allowing Quality One Automation the opportunity to defend our position regarding the irrigation installation. The 2 subsequent emails are supporting documentation to our position The first is the email sent to them on December 15th. Our position on how the situation was handled are detailed within. We continue to stand by these facts. I do want to point out a few items. First, we were VERY responsive to their concerns about the operation of their irrigation system. We went so far as to service their system on 2 separate occasions to try to rectify the situation and even went so far as to include them in our winterization schedule to ensure that their system was free of any water over the winter months. Also and most importantly, we are only as good as the information that is share with us. As stated we are not well experts and don't claim to be. Rust was the only element of concern that was shared in the consultation process and the RIDORUST system was installed to treat the rust. Subsequent to the email that I sent to them is our plumbers response to the following statement from the member: "When the irrigation company installed a T pipe, the plumbing inside the house had to be turned off. Before their plumber left he told us to expect 5-10 minutes of black water to run through the pipes. That black water was sitting at the bottom of the well holding tank inside our house and when the water was turned back on, the tank refilled with water, stirring up debris and sediments (dirt, flux, iron and manganese sediments, etc.). The industry standard for installation of an irrigation system being run off of well water is to flush the water from the well source for 5-10 minutes prior to introducing the water into the irrigation system for the first time to prevent the debris and sediments from clogging valves and drip line. This important step was not done by the irrigation company. In fact, the owner is not even aware that this flushing on installation is needed." The email response from BoeVaag Plumbing proves this statement is false. "Quality One Automation is very sensitive to the challenges that the members have faced, however feel that we conducted ourselves knowledgeably, based on disclosed information and professionally with respect to installation, service and follow up. Contrary to the member's allegations, their system was installed correctly." Quality One Automation is a 7 year old company and we NEVER have had a complaint filed against us, with any consumer agency until now. We have a client base of 450 customers with a growth rate of about 10%% year over year. We pride ourselves in our client retention and our excellent customer service and, as expressed in our email response to the member, wish in the end, that this issue is resolved and that they are retained as Quality One Automation clients. Thank you again for the opportunity to defend our position. Jay Grommesch-Owner
