Plehal was neither the cheapest nor most expensive, but in the middle of 4 or 5 quotes. However, I was impressed with the thoroughness of their bid, the description of the work, and how it matched my needs. They readily accepted my Angie's List discount. There was a fairly lengthy time lag between taking out the old driveway and putting it in the new, but it was understandable given the very wet weather we experienced during this time. The finished product looks great.

They were quick to respond to the bid. The team was very prompt and very engaged in their tasks. The driveway looks great. The grade is perfect - no low spots. We were very pleased with this company.

I required concrete work to my garage before the driveway could be put in. After the concrete work was done the driveway was installed and it looks great. Installing the driveway itself, not including concrete, took only one day.

They were kind of limited to what they could do as the driveway was a mess. I thought that they could have been neater as they did kind of get it in areas that they should not have. A part of it after I parked on it came off on my tires. I had to have them come back as a chunk of it came off and they did fix that. I have had better jobs done by other companies in the past.

Additional parking space was created along side our garage. They graded area including the yard slope, added Class 5 base and rolled before asphalt was applied. Asphalt work was very done and they were careful, not messy. We were not as pleased with the sealcoating as we do not feel the cracks were cleaned and filled as well as we had hoped; especially along the front of the garage.

They did a great job. We were not home when they did the work and it was done as promised for a fair price.

I ended up using another company for two primary reasons: Plehal's warranty was substantially shorter than the other companies, and most importantly, they had a much longer lead time required and less schedule flexibility. Sealing the deal was that two separate crews would do the work; one would strip the old driveway and add the crushed rock to the base (and repair foundation issues around the garage) and the second would actually repave the driveway. Unfortunately there would be a 10-14 day gap between the two, and I didn't want a gravel driveway for up to two weeks and to have to arrange a second appointment when other companies were able to do it all in one day. I was impressed with Plehal and their representatives, but was not willing to wait longer to pay more over the course of two weeks to get my driveway repaved. I would certainly invite Plehal to bid on a project, but was completely satisfied with the contractor I eventually selected.

It was adequate work and it was annoying about leaving the mess on the street without us knowing about it. When we called them and they came out and looked at it, they were pleasant enough about it but not letting us know was a bit upsetting.

Good. Responded quick. Work was a lot better than the last place I used. I normally do it myself, so I expect that it would be at least that good, and it was. I would used them again.

A wonderful experience. They were priced good (had 5 bids for the project). The driveway was completed very quickly and looks beautiful. During the process I was called by the company and told that my old base was in excellent condition and I did not need to get a new crushed limestone. Because of this company's honesty I was able to save almost $400! I am grateful for Angies list where I can find excellent companys like Plehal Blacktopping.

all went well with the arrangements for an estimate BUT instead of an estimate for sealcoating as requested i received an estimate for replacement of entire driveway for $5300 with a statement of "not worth" the sealcoating and "took the liberty" of giving me an estimate for the driveway. A call to the company said i would have to speak to the estimator. At that moment another sealcoating business pulled up to do their bid. I wasnt interested in a sales opportunity for an upsell - just sealcoating so the driveway could make it cosmetically for another year or two. I am the one judging if its worth it or not, thank you.

They are friendly. I can?t comment on their work, since they are yet to finish the work. It is hard for them to come out currently, as it has been raining. They took the old driveway, fast and easy. They are clean. They are fine. I have no problems with them, so far.

Got a return call for estimate within half-day and estimate within a week. Quote was decent, but I decided to hire another highly ranked Angie's List contractor whose price was lower.

Lee Pochman gave me a quote and I elected to go with Plehal. The work was completed on schedule and on budget. The repair looks great. Mark in the office was especially helpful and responsive getting the job scheduled and answering any questions/concerns I raised after the initial quote. Plehal was very easy to deal with.

This company was easy and pain free to set up the appointment with. They came out real quick. I decided to use this company because they were fast about coming out spur of the moment to do the work since I was in a time crunch. The finished work is beautiful and has held up very well so far after only a couple months.

Each crew arrived at the time promised. The crew members cheerfully answered my questions in the detail I desired. The crews were carefull of gardens, lawn, and shrubs near the working area. All work was completely very efficiently and professionally. Both crews thouroughly cleaned up when finished.

Lee Pochman is the friendly estimator. Work was done two weeks after signed contract. The workmen were very careful with our landscape. They were extra careful to fill deep holes along the garage with crushed stones. Job was well-done.

Discovered I had a 10 yr warranty for work done in 2001 against breaking up. Called them and they honored their agreement. Plehal gave great info on driveway installation & repair.

My driveway, (less than a year later when I initiated contact regarding problems) has 53 horizontal cracks and several vertical cracks in it. Additionally tire scuff marks are still occurring. The original condition of the drive was 4 - 5 horizontal cracks and a rough spot around a drain. After their inspection and meetings their explanation was that asphalt does this sometimes...and there is probably some old wiring beneath the driveway....(53 wires running horizontally??? And how about vertical cracks? And wouldn't we see that prior to their resurfacing in the old driveway? Come on guys! They offered to paint the cracks which would leave unsightly black lines along my driveway. How attractive is that! It defeats the purpose of the resurfacing -- maintaining the aesthetics of my property... which is a historic Lake Minnetonka home on Sunset Point. I spent $22,878 for a wreck job and can't seem to get any resolution. I clearly would not recommend these people. P.S. The owner said he had resurfaced his driveway at the same time and his wife bitterly complained about all the cracks. So, I ask you, is this a product problem or an installation problem?

They did a good job and was easy to work with. It took them two stages and about four hours. they did answer all my questions and concerns that I had and did a good job.
