They communicated well and they had a very reasonable bid. They got the job done in a timely manner and they cleaned up well. We talked about the design and basically they designed it exactly as we specified. It was a very satisfactory job.

Dan Lebens was one of 3 firms who supplied estimates for repair of the chimney crown for our late 1970's home, wood-burning decorative fireplace. He showed up when he said he would, brought his own equipment, listened carefully to our needs, did a close inspection and discussed the causes of deterioration, suggested options such as a step out extension/overhang to protect the full chimney and a brick vent to control moisture. He was able to immediately identify the type of bricks, and discuss sources for the repair. He provided a moderately-priced written estimate to do all work, and was also open to the idea of us homeowners doing some of the demolition work, which is what we chose. Dan was extremely professional in all aspects of the work, and clearly an expert. The final building steps took him less than 2 hours to complete (he's fast and accurate), and the finished repaired chimney and cement crown are perfect. He even offered to haul the demolition debris away. It was wonderful to work with someone with this level of expertise who's still willing to tackle a relatively small-scale job. Dan understood that we were concerned most about safety / use of the fireplace, and supportive of our need to keep costs within reason while still meeting our goal. We were so pleased with his work that we recommended him to our neighbors, who had more significant repairs needed and they also chose to use Lebens Masonry.
