Had great experience. They answered my request for information right away and set up am appointment to come out to give me an estimate. Sent a letter, complete with photo of who was coming, before he arrived. He was straightforward about what they could and could not do. Had an sample window with to show features as well. Didn't try to talk me into a bunch of expensive upgrades, showed what they had and didn't pressure. The installers were quick, professional, and very capable. Had it done in no time and made sure I was happy.

I didn't give them a price rating because I didn't really shop around based on price; I was really looking for someone who could help me work with the insurance company effectively, and they were the first company that really went to bat for me.

We had a very good experience with Sandau Construction. John Kraiman met with us multiple times when we were looking at options and choosing product and Tom/Shane communicated well and were prompt in arriving at our house the day of tear out and installation. Based on our experience we'd recommend using this company.

Very unhappy with how long it is taking to complete this project. I first contacted Sandau Construction (S.C.) in June 2012 about replacing a casement window and patio door. John Kooiman arrived at my home on Jun 8 to assess my windows and I received a proposal on June 26. John said that I could see examples of the windows at their showroom in Bloomington so I went there on June 30. It was closed (I was not informed that it would be closed on weekends) but an employee was present and let me in to look around. I was not impressed with the patio door but I did like the casement window. In the ensuing weeks I continued to get estimates from other companies and decided to have just the casement window installed, leaving the patio door for a later date. I called John K. in August, informed him of my decision and requested that the work be done in the last week of October, if possible, as I would be home from work that week. He said that he did not think that would be a problem and that he would draw up a new proposal for me to sign. I waited several weeks for the new proposal, calling and leaving messages for John but getting no response. Finally, after calling the company, I managed to reach him and he told me that he had dropped off the proposal at my house earlier in September. He did not call to follow up on whether I received it or not. I did not. After doing some checking, John discovered that he had left the proposal at the wrong address (I did not receive an apology). He dropped off a new one on September 27 and informed me that it was now too late to schedule an installation for the end of October. My window was finally installed on November 28. I was charged an extra 100.00 service charge because my project was not big enough and was told that if I had other work done in the future, my 100.00 would be applied to that. The installers (especially Tom) were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, it was overlooked on the work order that I had ordered an aluminum screen, rather than fiberglass. John had told me that I could have this choice and he put it on the order. So the installers had to leave without putting a screen on. On December 19, John called to tell me that an aluminum screen was not possible for this window so I said, "Ok, just give me the fiberglass one. Call me before you bring it or leave it in between my front door and storm door if I'm not home." It is now January 20, 2013, and I have received no phone call and no screen. I am very disappointed with this company. It was recommended by a good friend who had many windows replaced at his home. Perhaps my project was too small to warrant the same amount of attention. Update: February 21. Still no screen and no phone call. It appears I will have to contact them again. Update: April 2, 2013. Last week, I received my screen. This was the second one, as the first one was not of good quality (corners did not come together, screen was loose. It is possible that there was an attempt to replace the fiberglass mesh with aluminum and then put back together with fiberglass). The new screen is much better and I have installed and tested it. Also, last week I received a call from Ms. Sandau, who apologized for the service problems that I encountered throughout this project. Finished. Finally.

They did a very good job. The workmanship was excellent and the service as well.

Met with a representative of Sandau Construction at a Home and Garden Show in our community. We were impressed with the presentation and made a follow-up appointment to seek further information. Previous to our meeting with Sandau we had sought estimates from 3 other companies. We were not impressed by the represntatives or their products. After initializing our selections fro siding and the door and window we continued to meet with the company until the start date. We found the construction crews were punctual, and very attentive to our requests. They arrived early and stayed late and made sure they cleaned the sight everyday before leaving. I would highly recommend Sandau Construction to family and friends and other who may need the use of their services. * We have recieved many compliments from neighbors and passersby who saw the before and after construction. All were favorable comments.

I had questions for TOM, and he explained in detail, the answers. He was very detailed with his work, and took great pride in doing it. Real impressed with his work ethic and if I would get new windows, Sandau and definitely specify TOM as the installer.7676 Prairie

Salesman was on time and very courteous. Installers were on time, very quick, and cleaned up everything very well.

Sandau was the only company, out of 4, to tell me that I only needed the inserts replaced. However, I think if I went to get proposals for inserts to be replaced from other companies it would have been a little less. Installation went great and the company was easy to work with. I'm very happy with the new windows and they come with a lifetime warranty that will transfer to new owners.

Mr. Tom did an excellent job of installation. He was very thorough in explaining the product.

Sales were good & answered question quickly didn't take forever to get a decent quote. Install was prompt, clean & efficient. Product works great. Stainer/painter for wood trim took awhile to schedule but once scheduled worked out fine. Matched the test of the wood in the house.

They did a real good job. They were fast and effiicient and we ended up using them again after that.

They did a real good job. They were friendly and helpful and made some other suggestions. We also had them remove and replace a screen door. They found out that the screen door fit in the back where we did not have an existing door. They tried to help out in other ways as well.

Special door size, so 3 week wait, but as soon as arrived at Sandau, the date of installing was set for 4 days later. That was due to death in family of installer. Therefore I was first to have my work done.

Very prompt and professional at all appointments from estimate to measurement to installation. Great quality and great service!

My experience with them has been very good. I used them in November of 2008. They did come out for a service call about that job last month. It wasn’t a new job. It was just a service call about that job. I didn’t pay anything for the job because it was included. They provided good customer service. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

Sandau Construction was extremely professional from start to finish, and very easy to work with. They were honest, punctual and reliable. This was my first major housing project and I was anxious on how it would go and finding a good company. I am very pleased that I chose Sandau and that they were rated so high on Angie's List. Our house looks great and I will certainly contact Sandau again for future projects.

Sandou was at the Home Show we attended when we were looking for a better siding product than the vinyl which has been unsatisfactory. In particular, we need a product that allows good moisture drainage. The rep tool us about a new product which uses "water management clips to hold the siding away from the water barrier and sheathing." (quote from Apex brochure), The rep said that their company had never installed this type of siding, but had researched it and thought it would work. The follow-up was good and we signed a contract for the work. There were two aspects we especially wanted in the project. Since we were also having the roof replaced, we needed coordination with the roofers and with a company which had to removed the duct work for our air conditioning units. Second, since they hadn't used the product before, we wanted a Marvin rep on site at the outset to oversee the installation process. They agreed to both. The work started when the rains stopped and went pretty much on schedule except for one delivery problem for some additional materials. The workers were competent and willing to answer questions. We inspected the work almost daily and took up any issues either with the project manager and/or the foreman. Marvin people stayed for two days, Sandou finished the project and we are satisfied with the result. Details such as reattaching the downspouts, moving the exterior lights etc. were all well done. This company does what it promises. They communicate well so if there are problems, such as having to reschedule, we were notified. The project manager did a good job of coordindating with the roofers and plumbers and anticipating what was needed for the job. The whole effort was managed very well and this was a very good experience.

The sales rep was fantastic as was the initial visit by the installer. My job was delayed, but my expectations had been set, so there was no problem there. Installers were here for one full day plus part of another. They were very professional and tidy and kept me informed as to what they were doing. They took a good deal of time ensuring a consistent look from the exterior. One of the window decals needed for claiming the tax rebate was missing and I requested it via phone from the office. It arrived promptly. Overall, this was a very good experience and I would use Sandau again and recommend them to friends.

All the work got completed in a timely manner. I was satisfied with the work.

John the salesman was very upfront and very professional. Kevin was checking on progress frequently. Andy (and Tom) the window installers were great to work with. Also really appreciated Greg the siding installer. All were very professional, extremely polite, and conscientious Sandau was not the cheapest, but their warranty and professionalism were the reasons we chose them for our construction jobs. We are very pleased with their work.

I used Sandau to replace 5 windows and a patio door last year. I was happy with the work, so I had my other 5 windows replaced. John Kooiman is very easy to work with and is very knowledgeable about the window products and the procedures used in replacing windows. Tom installed the windows in one day. He arrived on time, worked hard, and cleaned up, leaving my garage floor cleaner than it was when he came. He put down dropcloths to avoid getting the carpet dirty. Tom is very nice, very professional, and did a great job. When the building inspector came out to check the installation, the inspector said, "Sandau always does a nice job."

From the initial bid and window measurements to the actual install the work was professional, courteous, cost-competitive, and I am very pleased.
