After searching through numerous contractors who wouldn't even come to our home to bid a job "this small" we found Sandau Construction. From the initial meeting and bid, Mr. Rich Tuomi communicated how every aspect of this small project would proceed. The product options were expertly explained, costs were clearly stated, and install dates communicated effectively! That was impressive in itself, but then came time for the install... Their window and door install guy was FANTASTIC!! Very courteous, knowledgeable and explained exactly what he was going to do and why. We could not be more happy with his work and would love to have him back for other projects!! We really cannot say enough about how professional and effective Sandau Construction was for our project! Thank you!!

From start to finish on our siding job, the folks at Sandau were great! Their sales staff were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Rich was very integral in guiding us with picking out the right materials, colors ect. To make what our vision of what our house should look like come true. The installation crew were very friendly and hard working. They did a really fantastic job! I would definitely recommend them for any siding or other construction project!!

Sandau is excellent! The staff was great to work with from first to last contact. The sales person who wrote the proposal made very good suggestions. We were assisted in our choices by seeing material samples, seeing finished houses in color options, seeing various elevation illlustraions of our house with different colors, materials and styles of siding and shingles. We asked for different elevation views, changing one thing or another and Jane was very helpful and prompt, emailing the requested changes promptly. The work team was professional, on time, skilled and easy to work with. They focused on every detail including set up, daily clean up and finishing touch. Our house looks beautiful and we are delighted and completely satisfied. We would highly recommend Sandau.

All went with the exception of the order going in one week later than we planned on, due to the rep who was double checking the measurements, misplaced our paperwork. So as a result of our basement window frames were covered with plastic for an additional week while we awaited the shipment.

From the first call to Sandau, the customer service was excellent. The sales consultant was very helpful in assisting us in selecting the right doors and features. He also kept us up to date on the order status. The installer came over and verified all the measurements before the order. On the day of the install, he and his helper arrived on time and got the doors installed quickly and correctly. It has been five days since the install and we've been saying that we really like the new doors every day. We're looking forward to many years of using these quality doors.

It went very well and we were very pleased. The workmen were extremely efficient and knowledgeable. The supervisor was excellent as well and answered all of our questions. We are glad we chose them.

There was an issue with the first door provided. They replaced it quickly with no hassle.

It was hard to reach the company representative by phone but I am sure they were getting busy and had a change of staff that made it trickier. But the result was Ok to get the job done. They agreed one screen was not the one ordered and corrected the order to the less showing screen for smaller window. They cleaned up, were efficient and when had trouble getting the new trim between the windows close by cabinets found a way.

The folks at Sandau were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. The salesman did an excellent job describing the features of the windows, their installation process, and the pricing with a factual, non-pressure manner. He also came up with a creative way to make two basement windows egress compliant and the lead installer even contacted the local inspector before ordering to make sure that the windows would be compliant. Installation took three days because they were a complete replacement which required modifying the siding. The quality of work is so good that it looks like original construction. Everything is square and flush. We really appreciate the paper paint strips and water diverters they fabricated that keep rain from the porch off the side of the house. The installers were professional and meticulous about keeping the site clean. The garage floor hasn't looked that clean in years. The proof of the quality of product and installation is the affect the new windows have on furnace cycling. Before install, at 0 degrees the furnace would cycle 4 times an hour with only a minute off between cycles every hour. After install it cycles 6 times an hour with 3 minutes off between cycles every hour. The furnace is now idle 18 minutes an hour versus 4 before.

Salesman John was great. Knew his line of products. Was not high pressure . Would deal with john again construction team was a delight to work with. Showed up on time. Cleaned job site. Gave suggestions on how to handle the job The job was to put in a new replacement window. Thank goodness . This winter has shown what a great quality of a window it really is. Replaced rotten siding above my garage with James Hardie. Also replace siding on the back of the building using Hardie siding. The only problem has been when I asked if they could do some work on my desk stairs. George the lead carpenter said they would do the job. Even the job foreman said they would do the job. I never head back from them. After 2 months I stop at their office to see if they where still interested in doing the job. The foreman apologied and said he would phone me with in 5 days. Still waiting for the call 6 months later

To be honest - I was very disheartened by the company. The sales guy was pretty good, initially. We chose insulated vinyl siding to help with noise outside the home and insulation as well. We placed the order for it. I received a phone call at the end of the job and I asked the job foreman to leave a section of the insulated siding to show potential buyers when we sell the home. There was a long pause and a "sir, you didn't get insulated vinyl" response. When I told him I indeed had ordered that, he said that he would get back with me. I received a call from the sales guy a short time later and he stated it was due to the fact that we had 6" exterior walls and people usually don't order insulated siding with 6" walls. He admitted his error and offered to have the siding guys come back out and reinstall. Between the end of the job and the phone call - I had found multiple piles of nails in the yard and a half eaten english muffin on my deck, hidden under some plants. I informed the sales guy that I don't want his guys back out to my house and that he'll need to make amends for the error. The company did make amends (after much haggling...), however, considering the nails and muffin left behind and the fact that they didn't seem to pay close attention to the job order - I can't even give them an "average" rating. I can't believe the "average" company would make those mistakes and leave such a mess behind.

Sandau window installers started on time and did a wonderful job, staying late to finish job once windows were installed. Siding guys started and finished in a week doing a wonderful job!

I did not buy the top of the line product, and do wish there was better noise insullation from the windows. However, the windows look very nice, and the installers were very professional. The lead installer, Tom, took great pride in his work, and was more than happy to explain what he did and why. I did have some follow-up questions, and the follow up wasn't as responsive. However, I now need a new front door. After shopping around with others, I am going back to Sandau to price a new front door and service door.

He advised me that I did not need to have my windows replaced, they just needed expert repair work done. He referred me to the window service provider that they use. He was honest and gracious.

It went well, took awhile for the project to start but once it did it was good. My dad went into the hospital and passed away right in the middle of the project. When I told the guys I had to leave town for that reason, so they would just have to put up the one board (to separate the shakes from siding) without me painting it first as planned, they said well if you have the paint and a brush we'll do it for you, and they did. I also was getting new windows (not by Sandau) installed at the same time and it was all well coordinated to do it in the proper order. During that first winter, one of the gutters leaked, I called and they were out in a day or two to fix. They did end up being a bit pricey (and final bill came in higher than expected) compared to the other 2 bids I got, but no complaints on quality so feel like I got what I paid for. I debated on if it was worth it to do the insulated part of the siding. I don't regret it, my utility bills have been excellent-even winter of 2013/2014. Also really happy I did the extra long siding. I don't think I have a single seam on my house (it's not very big). My neighbors, with similar house, had the same brand of siding but normal length installed at same time (by a different contractor) and I think what I paid extra for no seams was worth every penny!

My wife and I had Sandau Construction remodel both our bathrooms. One bathroom was a complete remodel and the other, the vanity and tube were reused.We knew that this would be a major reconstruction project and we where very pleased with the process from our first contact with Wayne S. the Estimator through the final walk through with Kevin Sandau. We were given a schedule of the time frame for the project and it was completed on time. Every one of the trades people were professional, competent, friendly, respectful and a joy to work with. Kevin Sandau was always just a phone call away when minor things came up. As with any major construction project there will be minor problems but Kevin was really good at solving those and the project was completed on time and to the satisfaction of my wife and I. I would like to give thanks to George and Phil, the carpenters. Mark the tile person. Jeff the sheet rock/painter. The person from Horizon Heating, I didn't get his name. Naomi from Custom Cleaning and all the other people we meet and worked with throughout this project. 'When we started this project we received three bids from Companies on Angie"s List and they all were within 5% of each other on the final bid price. We decided to go with Sandau Construction based on price, reputation and most of all past experience we have had with other work they did for us. We really felt comfortable from start to finish with Sandau Construction and the attention to detail Kevin Sandau and his crew brought to this project. One last thing I would like to mention is that we have two really curious dogs and everyone involved in this project were dog people and my wife and I had our hands full keeping our dogs from helping.

From John the salesman, to Tom the installer and crew all were very professional and friendly.

I was happy with the exterior smooth Hardie lap siding and would recommend them for Hardie installation. Price for the Hardie seemed average although the upgrade to Hardie soffit was quite high but the Hardie soffit looks so much better than aluminum. I definitely recommend using the Fypon vents as the standard ones are cheap vinyl. The siding that showed up onsite turned out to be the wood grain Hardie and not smooth, which luckily I asked the guys the day before install if they checked that it was the correct stuff which it wasn't, but the delivery company messed up the order and smooth Hardie was brought out the next day by Kevin. Glad it was caught before the installers started putting it up. The end results for the siding I would give an A- with the minus being for the vinyl light mounts verse using Hardie mounts which I was expecting. The initial windows selected for the project were the Softlite brand, but later found out when Tom came out to do final window measurements that they would stick out beyond the brickmould which is not traditional at all and keeping a traditional 1940's look was important to me. Fortunately the windows weren't ordered yet and Jon then suggested Parco windows which he has sold a while ago and have built on brickmoulding. We ended up going with those, which are a very traditional looking window and would recommend them for good value vinyl double hungs with grids. It was unfortunate the window brickmould issue arose after signing the contract but got it sorted out after a couple weeks. I wasn't happy with the stools and aprons installed inside below the windows. John in sales said they would get a close match to the original, but the stools had just boxed edges and the aprons were done using the same trim used on the other three sides of the window which is non traditional and the cheap way to go it seems to me. Kevin Sandau said they could've ordered the interior prefabbed trim boxes to have a different routed edge on the stool and a real traditional apron could've been installed but this was all after Tom during install said this is how they always do it. No correction was done and in summary I wouldn't recommend them for windows. The before and after pics clearly show the new isn't very close to the old for stools/aprons. I felt interior floor covering could've been done much better and better vacuuming to keep things cleaner verse partial covering and not very good vacuuming. Window rating I give them a C due to the interior trim and ordering process (Parco windows with attached brickmould I give an A). It was nice that the crews once they started were quick and stayed on the job till done and not jump around between jobs and take forever. In all windows and siding took I believe 6 consecutive days with one day being mostly a rainout, so very fast. Kevin Sandau the owner is nice guy and the payments were staggered nicely throughout the project. Was just disappointed in the window stools and aprons which I'm reminded of when I look at them.

Workers started work within a week of place our order. Work was completed in under 3 days. They were quick and professional and attentive to our concerns. They were as unobtrusive as possible.

John went over possible options and made sure I got the most for the money. Tom installed the windows very thoroughly and professionally. He did all the work himself, and is such a hard worker. He is very concerned about doing the best possible job.

Removing old and installing new went very quickly and smoothly. A few damaged items were reordered right away and installed at my convenience when received. Everything was cleaned up at the end of the day. Any questions or concerns I had after the job was completed were handled promptly in person or over the phone.

Every person showed up when they were supposed to during the week. Kept my room as clean as possible. Picked up after themselves each day. It was a pleasure and I was actually dreading this remodel. But, it was so easy and well worth it.
