Anchor Iron is a third generation family business that was established in 1953. We manufacture and install all types of custom iron work from step and deck railings to storm doors and windowboxes. We offer no cost, no obligation estimates and year round installations.
They were prompt and professional in scheduling. Jim cam with pictures. Gave a us a service time about 5 weeks. However, they finished the job 1 1/2 week ahead of time, again they were very good in reaching out and working with my schedule. The work itself is beautiful, very polished and our whole household is delighted with the end result.Very nice and professional people to work with, now only if they do electric and house re-modeling... :) I will give them my business again and for what it's worth, I would endorse them very highly.
Description of Work: I selected them based on their reports in Angie's List. Iron railing for the front of the house steps.

I had a front step railing that had rusted out at one of the supports, making it dangerous to use. I reviewed Angie's List and came upon Anchor. I called them and explained the situation. They came out to look at the railing to provide an estimate. Their estimate had 2 options - remove, repair, repaint and re-install the old railing for $300.00 or replace the railing for $385.00. I decided to replace the railing and made the appointment. Since this was outside, I did not need to be there. On the morning of the appointment, the old rail was there and, when I came home, the new railing was installed. According to the paperwork, they recycle the old railing, which pleases me. I was very pleased with the work. I had no interaction with the workers, but, from the quality of the work, I have no complaints. My interactions with the 'office' staff was pleasant and they were helpful.

When we bought our home 20 years ago, the railings on the front steps were somewhat wobbly, but usable. Last winter, after an ice storm, my husband slipped and grabbed one railing -- it broke. Time to replace them! We saw Anchor Iron's display at a home/garden show, with an Angie's List sign displayed. We checked them out on Angie's List online and contacted them. Mark Roberts came out and took measurements and showed me the optional designs. I did not check out any other firm -- their ratings and reports on Angie's List were enough for us. The new custom railing was ready in the promised 2 weeks. Mark's dad (I forget his first name) came out to do the installation. He was prompt, on time, and clearly knew what he was doing. The job was done quickly, and the railings are very, very sturdy. No fears grabbing them now!
Description of Work: Replacement of two railings, on each side of front steps, including removal and hauling away of old railings. Railings are custom Washburn Style step railings with cast collars.

Mark Roberts responded in a timely manner and was punctual for the appointment to review the project and create a bid. We did not receive a bid or further contact from Mark until I contacted him a few days after his promised date to get us a bid. The bid came in higher than another company and the other company worked closely with us to design the guard rail. We hired the other company.
Description of Work: We needed a guard rail added to an upstairs porch wall to bring it up to City code. (Raise the rail from 28 inches to 36 inches.)

The estimator came out and helped me to figure out what would look the best. He encouraged me to put decorative panels in the iron work and I chose panels for each side that have oak leaves on them. It looks absolutely beautiful. They did a fabulous job and it actually enhances the whole front door area!

I contacted Anchor Iron Company to give me an estimate on a new front railing for front stoop. I had had two other companies bid on this job, but none of them offered even close to as many options as Anchor. The representative from Anchor had a book of photographs that clearly displayed various railing options. The representative was knowlegeable about the code requirements for my city, which came into play as I did not a railing on both sides of my stoop or one with full length bars that make it hard to shovel snow through. After making my selection, the representative estimated it would take about 3 weeks for the railing to be made, which is exactly how long it took. When the railing was complete, someone from the company contacted me regarding scheduling the installation. Although I was nervous having someone drilling into my new concrete project, the railing was perfectly installed and looks fatastic. I even received a small bottle of touch up paint to deal with dings as they arise. I am very pleased I selected Anchor and will highly recommend them to friends and family in the future.
Description of Work: I had recently had a new stoop and front steps poured at my house and needed a railing installed. The stoop was 5 feet deep and had 4 steps.

We called two companies with high recommendations on Angie's List for estimates to put in an iron railing on one side of an existing 2 step front entryway. Jim arrived on time to provide an estimate. He was very nice and thoroughly explained the installation. We selected Anchor Iron based on price and we felt they would do a good job. Jim explained that they would build the rail to our specifications. We did not order anything special or really unique. It took 2 weeks from the time we placed the order until Jim came back and completed the installation. It looks nice and is what we expected.

We were pleased with our experience with Anchor Iron. They were able to come out on a Saturday, which was convenient for us, to help us place our order. He brought an extensive book of photographs of the different products. We have two small sets of stairs outside leading up to our house. He helped us choose railings that were appropriate given what our stairs look like. On the day of the actual installation, they did not require us to be present, which meant we didn't have to miss work, which we apprecated. The end result was great! Perfect railings, very professional looking job. It's expensive, but since it will last a very long time, it was worth it. Have compared our raiings to others in the neighborhood and ours looks more sturdy and attractive than most.
Description of Work: He came out to our house with a book of pictures of our options. Helped us select a railing for our outdoor steps. Took measurements. A few weeks later, railings were installed.

I contacted the company for an estimate, and it took a little while to schedule a time. Jim came out and went over possible designs and costs with me, and explained how the railings were made, maintained and installed. They had a 3-4 week lead time, and my upper railings hand a custom design, so the date above is the date they were installed (about 3 weeks). They look great!! He was prompt, careful, and professional throughout.
Description of Work: Three ornamental railings were installed in the front of my house -- two at the top four steps, one long rail on the many lower steps. I had needed them for years, but put them off because of cost. Wrought iron is always expensive, but their price was fair for the workmanship.

I first went o the Anchor Iron showroom in Savage to look at what was available. The place is fabulous and the people were great. Then they sent someone o my house to measure. At that point, I choose the custom railing. It was installed a couple weeks later by the owner of the company. I complimented him on what a good job it was and how much I appreciated the service.

It was a pleasure to work with these folks. Jim came to the house promptly with a photo album of examples of Anchor Iron's work. He helped me choose a design that was appropriate for my 100 year old house, actually recommending one of the less expensive designs of the four I liked as fitting the house best. Although I initially chose black, they cheerfully accommodated my change of heart to a different color that I later decided worked better. The work was done earlier than promised, and promptly and professionally installed. Mickey, at the office was unfailingly pleasant and helpful. The work was done for about half the price I had anticipated, so I was especially thrilled.

They came on time. The salesman was very professional. We gave a small down payment, which made sense. The gentleman who did the work had a great work ethic and took pride in his work. Anchor Iron was extremely professional and offered a great product line. Adam was extremely patient with me as I requested three different estimates. Greatly appreciated the estimates because each depicted how the final product would look. In addition, they were very accommodating as I had to reschedule the installation once in order to allow for other stair contractors to finish. Finished product looks great!

I needed to put railings on my front step per my insurance company. I found Anchor Iron from this website and then went into their own website and found they do much more than just railing. I received two tickets from this company to attend the Minneapolis Home and Garden Show and took my daughter. I visited their booth and am just blown away by the products. I ordered both the railings ($935.00) and security door ($895.00). They were very professional, accurate with the scheduling and cost and did a beautiful job. Such a small change, but it makes such a difference with the look at the front of the house. I love it! My insurance agent came to take a picture for the underwriter and then called me to say that she has another client who wanted the name of this company. I was very happy to pass the information along.
Description of Work: Installed two railings and a security door.
