In the Summer of 2007, a representative of All American Arborists knocked on our door and offered to give us a quote for tree service. I asked him what it would cost to remove our large, tottering Maple tree and grind out the stump and he gave me a written quote for $500.00. I agreed and signed his quote and we scheduled the work. Ian Stocco (the owner) and his team had to reschedule the work, but once they arrived, they worked quickly to take down the tree before an approaching storm. They removed the tree and left the un-split, fireplace length pieces of the branch and trunk. However, they did NOT grind the stump out as we agreed in writing and they left the un-split wood in the middle of my lawn. After they removed the tree, Ian and I discussed having All American Arborists split the firewood and stack it behind my house for an additional $200.00. Also, I refused to pay the full original amount until the tree stump was ground out as in our written quote. I did pay $400.00 of the original quote. They cashed my check on September 26, 2007. It was clearly a mistake to pay any amount at that point, as Ian's team never showed up again-neither to remove the stump nor complete the additional splitting and stacking of the firewood. I tried calling Ian several times-but they never came back to finish the work. I ended up stacking the wood myself off the grass, moving the heavy rounds of the cut trunk. I also sprained my ankle in one of the huge divots they left in the yard from dropping pieces of the tree. Finally, I called Ian Stocco again this fall, Thursday, October 23, and spoke with him. Ian remembered the job, remembered the tree stump and remembered the additional agreement to split and stack the firewood. He said he would come to my house the following day to look things over-it wasn't clear to me what his goal was-he did not state that he would come and finish the work he had agreed to do. Regardless-I have no evidence that he came at all and I have not heard back from him. I simply want the company to come finish the work they agreed to do.
Description of Work: All American Arborists removed a larget, tottering Maple tree from my front yard. The written agreement was to have the tree removed, everything chipped, and the stump ground out. I changed my mind once they started work-asking them NOT to chip everything but rather, leave me the firewood. They left the un-split branches and trunk in fireplace-width pieces. They did NOT grind the stump out.
