I had a great experience with Zimpel Drywall after water damage to my basement. Quality of work was excellent, I could not be more pleased. Job was finished quickly and at a reasonable price.

Here is the long and the short. I wouldnt hire Craig again. He talks a big game, but when it comes down to it he invests the least amount of time to get the job done. He will skimp wherever he thinks he can and he will also complain about anything that he didnt see or realize when he bid the job (we had (3) 15 minute conversations about additional work in an area that he said would take an extra half hour of labor.) Craig's other big tactic is he will bid to paint his drywall work at a great rate. He will spec it using a flat sheen paint that is commonly used by flippers to hide the fact that the drywall is shoddily done. Craig rushed our job and did an inferior job. He complained and got heated when we pushed back on what he called finished work as well as pushed my wife to cut the last check when I wasn't home. If you want to see butt joints and screw heads hire Craig. He's a quick witted guy that will invest the minimal amount of time to get paid. We have continued to correct what he didn't finish in the 2 months since our job was "finished"

Craig did a wonderful job. There was great communication from the start. The price was very reasonable and the results were perfect. He cleaned up the area everyday and no debris was left behind. I will definitely hired Craig Zimpell for my next job.

Craig was easy to work with and did a great job; he was punctual and took pride in his work. He gave good suggestions for some problematic areas that a basement provides. I can't stress enough how good at his craft Craig is and you should seriously consider using Zimpel Drywall.

Craig was excellent. All communication was prompt and clear. Expectations were clearly set and everything was totally transparent. Really easy to work with and the work was excellent. Pricing was VERY affordable, doubly so given the high quality of the workmanship.

Craig came out the day after I called to give me an estimate. When I confirmed the job, he was out the next week to scrape, re texture and paint the ceiling. He was on time, professional and did a great job on a messy project. Would highly recommend.

Craig came to our house and provided an estimate on New Years Day. This was nice as it required no need to leave work early etc. to meet with him. We gave him notice to proceed with the work on 1/8/15 and he started the following Monday. He assured us that he would be complete by Saturday 1/17 and actually finished up a day early on 1/16. Based on the timeliness from estimate to completion and the overall cost of the work performed we are happy with the result. There were only a few small items in regards to quality that was a little bothersome, but nothing I couldn't take care of myself. That being said, we were not all that picky as we are just giving the basement a face lift and not a full blown overhaul and this was expressed to Craig so this may have played a part in his pricing and final product. Also, the area that received most of the work was the upper walls and ceiling of the stairwell. The issues were only really magnified while shining a flood light on the walls/ceiling.

It was awesome!!! Worth every penny. I had he sheetrock delivered into the garage from Menards. I had some friends come over and move it to the basement (pizza and beer helps get them over to help). I started hanging the drywall and soon found out that hanging drywall is NOT for me. My wife convinced me to get some quotes. Zimpel Drywall came back with a competitive quote and had just finished a project, so they were ready to work, right now. Craig had his drywall hangers come in the next day. Three guys hung 93 sheets in 9 hours. The busted their butts and were very courteous, considerate and professional. They asked where I wanted the scrap material. I told them to put it in the garage for now. They recommended I lay down a tarp to keep the mess contained (good call). The guys also suggested to shut off the furnace while they were working to keep the dust from getting everywhere in the house. Craig started the tape and mud on a Monday and was finished with everything the following Monday (and that was on the same week as the Christmas Holiday). In a week (with a holiday) he put all the cornerbead up, tape and mud the screws and seams at least twice, sanded, put knockdown on the ceiling and primed everything! Craig took care to contain the mess when sanding. He again suggested we shut off the furnace and he taped the seams shut on the basement door. The basement looks awesome! Craig did one heck of a job. The drywall job in the basement looks better than what the builder slapped together when the house was built.

He first told me that he was going out of town for the weekend, but that he was interested in my project and that I should contact him the following week. I did that, and set up a time for him to come out a bid. He never showed up. He never called to say he would be late. He did call the following day and ask if I still wanted a quote. Umm.. no thank you. Update: Yes, this is a large communication problem.. between the supplier and myself. He scheduled an appointment and didn't show. We took time off of work for this. He did call - a day later (!!!!) and ask if we still wanted a quote. I, too, have better things to do than take time off of work and wait for a contractor that doesn't show up - at the time HE requested, mind you. Absolutely would not recommend this contractor.

Craig was punctual and very professional in getting the work finished when he said he would. His estimate was very reasonable and between the value he provided from a cost perspective and his professionalism, made it a no brainer in selecting him for the job. It also was worth it from a time and stress perspective to pay him to do additional finishing I was initially planning on doing myself (i.e. painting the ceilings). The ceilings turned out awesome and Craig repaired spots of texture that came off the ceiling when he sprayed the first coat of paint due to dust on the ceiling from the homeowner (me) having scraped off the original popcorn ceiling. If I would have chose instead to due the painting myself, he would have had to come back out to fix it at a later date. I would certainly use Zimpel Drywall again for future drywall/ceiling projects without question and will refer anyone that needs Craig's services. A+ Experience!

Craig responded right away, came out the same day and worked. He predicted when the job would be done and was right on time. Walls look great and ready for paint. Craig is a good worker!

Everything went like they stated. There was no surprises with price or timing.

We found Craig on the internet after doing a search on the web. Craig responded to our message we left him the same day. He came out that same night to do the estimate. Our estimate came in under what the others we had and offered more. We ended up getting our entire basement done, which included the hanging of the drywall, taped, sanded, walls primed, and ceiling textured in knockdown and painted. Basically all my walls are ready for paint and trim. I had some concerns regarding warped boards used in the framing and said not to worry that they have ways to deal with this, and did. Craig was very responsive and knows his profession.
