+ 0 moreI sent Bill a couple photos of my door, including some areas that needed repair. He responded with a quote and we made an appointment for a few weeks out. He called the day before to confirm. Overall, I'm pleased with the work and appreciate his woodworking skills. I was happy to be able to spruce up the existing (very old) door rather than replace it. He helped me pick out a good stain color to complement the various shades of wood, and ended up mixing up a custom one, which looks lovely. He also filled in an old keyhole with a small plug of wood, so it looks much nicer. Some repairs were apparently not feasible - a piece of the veneer on the door is still popped up - but overall the faults are much less noticeable. A couple things to note that might be helpful for you: I did not realize this would take several days to complete, so I had only planned to take one day off from work. Turns out, it requires about four visits (day one: strip & sand; day two: stain; day three: finish coat 1; day four: finish coat 2, plus small repairs). Understandable in retrospect, but I wish he'd been more specific in advance. Due to an issue with his staff, he very apologetically had to reschedule the final visit twice. Not necessarily a huge inconvenience, but he was not very prompt in his communication with us about the postponement (calling to postpone after he was already late - so we were left waiting). I asked him for a quote to refinish/restore the built in buffet also, so hopefully I will be able to use his services again.

Description of Work: Set up first appointment, Bill didn't nor respond to the follow up call I made later in the day. After a few weeks, I called newly. He was unaware that an appointment had been missed. We set a new appointment date for assessment of a storm door repair and, to my amazement, he was again a no show.

+ -1 moreBill came and gave us an estimate in May and we scheduled the work to begin after the Fourth of July. We were coordinating his work with other work. He arrived the day we planned and got started. He thought it would take a week or two. It turned out to be more like four. There were many layers of old paint to strip. Much of the work he did in our garage, but some of the stripping and staining was done in the bath room. While it took longer than planned it worked out well with the other work and it turned out beautifully. We would definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: Stripped and stained two doors and molding, one window and molding and one built in medicine cabinet all in our upstairs bath in our 1914 home.
