Voyageur Flooring

We couldn't be happier with the entire project. We received an accurate (and very competitive) quote before all work was completed. We saw sample photo's of similar jobs and a sample of the wood with the finish of our choice. He was willing to work with our hectic schedules, and our family coming and going (college kids). He cleaned up EVERYDAY and left the house in good order. We had other quotes from other suppliers and picked Voyageur due to the attention to detail (he feathered in the old wood with the new wood in all doorways, and where the wood met in each old/new area. Other companies tried to talk us into a "threshold" at each doorway - not a good look). We would recommend Voyageur without hesitation on all aspects of the job - Price, quality, professionalism, and overall good person.

I had the hardwood floors on the upper level of my house refinished. The house was built in 1889 and the floors were covered in dirty, ugly carpeting when I purchased it. I ripped up the carpet and pad myself to find hardwood floors that were in fair shape. There was a large area where someone had spilled latex paint or primer on the floor. There were also a couple animal urine stains. I found Jake from Voyageur Flooring via a Google search. He set up the estimate promptly via email and came to the house within a couple days. He measured and went over options for dealing with broken boards, stains, etc. as well as finish options (oil or poly). I had a couple estimates from other companies and they were right in the ballpark for about 300 square feet. I was able to schedule them to do the work within a few days. Jake did a great job. He was professional, clean, and let me know how long everything was going to take. He also did a great job patching broken boards, removing pet stains, and cleaning up all the dust afterwards. The project took a couple days and once it was done I was completely impressed (as were my friends and family who saw the before/after). It really brought back the 19th century charm to my house. I definitely recommend this company for and hardwood work. I referred my brother to Voyageur for the floors in his 1940's split-level in south Minneapolis. They did a great job there too.

The overall experience was very good. We closed on our house in early May and we were able to book Ben to come in and start work on our floors the following week. It took about three days to do the floors and then he came back after two weeks to replace the stairs. That project took a day and a half. Our upstairs was a different type of wood from downstairs but Ben did a good job on staining that and the new stairs towards matching our downstairs floors. He was very thorough on following up on little details and was able to do a couple of patch jobs as necessary. He wasn't always immediate in communication but nothing unreasonable. The price was significantly less than others we were quoted.

The floors in our home look beautiful. They are much lighter in color and the finish allows the natural oak color to shine. The entire process took only 3 days and I was able to walk on the flooring every evening so I still had access to our home's one bathroom with shower during the project. Also, Ben did an excellent job at keeping the dust out of the rest of the home. The water based finish did not leave a strong odor in the home which was an added bonus. The floors have been in for a little over a month now and are looking great.
