We have used the service provided by this group (it has been bought/sold several times) for the 20 years we have been in our house. Service had been fine until the most recent owner Advanced Disposal. In the last half year the service has completely broken down. Pick-ups missed nearly every mouth. Strangely, another customer 2 houses down the alley would receive service. It became impossible to know when they might ever come back for a garbage pick-up. Customer service was helpful despite the pathetic nature of their business. Steer clear of this failing business.
Description of Work: Weekly garbage pickup, not including yard waste. Used services from this group (or predecessors) for just under 20 years.

We used them last year for yard waste and toward the middle of the season they missed our pickup 5 different weeks. I called in 2 or 3 of them, and things seemed to improve. I hesitantly gave them a second shot this season for yard waste pickup, and they just missed us 2 weeks in a row. I didn't call the first week because I was out of town. When I called after the 2nd miss the customer disservice rep tried to scold me for not calling in the first one. She said the service is non-refundable, even if they don't provide the service purchased. We're in a dense residential area, so I don't see any reason we would be exceptionally hard to get to or out of the way for the driver's route. Stay far, far away from this compary under either name (Veolia or Advanced Disposal).
Description of Work: This review is specific the the yard waste service. Note that they now operate under the name Advanced Disposal. The service includes seasonal pickup of grass clippings, leaves, twigs, etc.

We hired Veolia to pic up our garbage and recycling. At the time, a door to door sales man said they do not impose a fuel charge, However, as time went on, they significantly increased their prices and added fuel charges to the statement which increased my garbage collection costs substantially from the time we started. Because of the increased costs and the imposition of fuel charges, we elected to discontinue service and go with another company. When we stopped using the service, they charged us a $35.00 fee. On the back of their billing statement, there is a provision that says ?There will be a $35.00 fee plus applicable taxes for cancellation of service.? I called on a couple of occasions to speak with representatives about waiving this charge. They were unwilling to waive the charge. With taxes and fees, the final charge for discontinuing service and having them collect the containers came to $45.12.
Description of Work: Veolia / Advanced Disposal preformed garbage and recycling collection.

I have used them for about a year and recently changed to a smaller container. The service has gotten worse in the last three months and seems to have declined since I started using a small container. My pick up day is Friday and in the past three months they have not picked it up about 3 times. When I call the first thing they ask is was it out to the curb by 7:00 a.m. and it always is. Today once again it is Friday and hot about 93 and the garbage can is full. I put it out at the curb last night. It is still there tonight. I called when I got home from work at 5:00 but they close at 4:30 so that means I get to wait all weekend before they get the message. When they have called back in the past they always say I must not have gotten it out in time. The last time it happened she said that I would have to wait until my next pick up day and they would not charge me extra for garbage bags outside the can this time but will next time it happens. I am not happen with their customer service. I pay my bill on time and am getting another garbage hauler.

Veolia came to my door last year promoting their service. The prices were very good so I signed up. This year they TRIPLED my cost for the yard waste container. They also increased the regular service pricing. THEN, they charged me their standard cancellation fee of $35 (plus fees and taxes) because I quit their service. I have never had a cancellation fee from a garbage hauler in 30 years until now. I hate that a company tells you that they will beat the price of your current provider and then jack up the prices after a year. Not a way to run a business.

We argued this and were told that the back of the statement stated that fees would be charged. I said that if a representative of Veolia, when asked, tells me it will be $35, I don't then go and read all of the detailed print on the back of their bill! I would have expected them to disclose that to me at that time. It wasn't until we threaten the manager with reporting this to the attorney general and sharing it on Angie's List that she agreed to cut the bill in half.
Description of Work: Upon stopping our service with Veolia, I was told that I could either drop the garbage can off at their Como location for free, or pay $35 for them to pick it up. I was told that they had to send a special truck out to get it and therefore the charge. We got busy and decided it wasn't worth dropping it off, so we'd pay the $35. It was picked up the usual time by what looked like their regular truck. Then when we got the bill, it was for $60.18! When we called, we were told that they needed to charge all of the fees on their regular quarterly bill for this $35 charge (e.g. Fuel/Environmental fees, Admin fee Trash, RR Cty Environmental Chage at 28%, MNrsWasteMgtTax 9.75).
