Overall, it went excellent. Their prices were great. Their showroom was a little disheveled but don’t let that fool you because they are great. They also do commercial work as well.

It was excellent. His price was excellent and the quality was good. He was easy to work with and added on some additional things. He didn?t worry about price and he was very prompt. He was really friendly and we could tell he is not going to try to overcharge us. We were very happy with his pricing, and would definitely use him again.

I was very pleased with the experience. Tony gave good suggestions. I thought I would need the cushions replaced but he pointed out that the stuffing was of good quality. I was considering some fabric from Joann's that was on sale .When I told him the cost of the fabric he informed me that using that fabric would be a better deal than getting it through him. Once I brought in the fabric, it only took a few days to get the work done. I rated the work a B because it was good but not perfect. I am happy with the results for this project.I would use him again.

It pains me to be unable to recommend this business. It is a small family-owned, store-front business. Just the kind of place I like to be able to support. I originally brought the rocker pads into the store to see what it would cost to re-cover them. Tony was generous about letting me take some fabric books home and his prices sounded very reasonable. All the Angie's List reports were extremely positive, which is how I found this place initially. I have not had problems in the past with businesses recommended on Angie's List. At home, I started looking at the armchair and realized what bad shape it was in as well, so I picked out fabric for both chairs. Tony picked up the armchair at my house. The work was done quickly (about one week), but not well. On the armchair the fabric pattern is slightly off-center and slightly higher on one side than the other. One of the arms is more padded than the other and this gives a noticeably lopsided look to the chair if you look at it straight on. On the rocking chair, the pads were truly awful! I had to bring them back to be redone. The material is striped and the stripes did not line up. The sewing was careless, bumpy, crooked, and messy. The thread did not match the color of the fabric. The pad was uneven in shape--rounded on one side and flat on the other. Worst of all, the back pad was about four inches too short and the snaps on the pad did not reach the snaps on the chair. It looked as though it had been done in a hurry and by an amateur. I hope when I get it back, the finished product will be better than the original work. I could ask Tony to re-do the armchair as well, but at this point I think we will just live with the flaws. Truthfully, I do not trust that he will be any more careful the second time around. I am very sorry that I cannot recommend that others patronize this business. Everyone at the store was helpful and the work was quick, but the finished product was not acceptable. I wish I had done just the rocker pads first. After that bad experience, I never would have brought my armchair to this business!
Description of Work: Two chairs. One large overstuffed armchair and one small glider rocker. Armchair was completely reupholstered. Rocking chair back and seat pads re-covered.

Working with Tony was a wonderful experience, from start to finish. I visited his shop on two occasions. It is a bit of a dive in Frogtown, with the upholstery work done at the back of the room, and miscellaneous pieces of furniture and disorganized fabric books more toward the front. To me, this was charming. I liked meeting the various family members (& dog) involved in the business. I would also rather have my dollar go toward quality work/product rather than a fancy storefront. I went home with a stack of fabric books, and a few days later Tony came to my home to examine the furniture and make sure the frames were solid and worth reupholstering. I chose fabric from Tony's books for both pieces of furniture. He mostly uses fabric from Greenhouse (see their website http://greenhousefabrics.com/). They actually have a huge selection of fabric, however, I found it a little difficult to find what I wanted since Tony had a limited selection of the books, and they were disorganized. He will reupholster with your own fabric purchased elsewhere, but he said that he would charge a little more for the labor in that case. Tony completed my chair in 5 days, and sofa in 7 days - awesome turnaround time. Both the chair and sofa look very nice. Tony is very generous with the stuffing, and my sofa cushions are bigger and fuller than ever (they were very saggy before). I would definitely use Tony again.
Description of Work: Tony reupholstered a wingchair and ottoman ($725, including 8 yards of fabric which retails for $50/yd.), and a large sofa ($1365, including 16 yards of fabric which retails for $50/yd.). He picked up and returned the furniture at no additional charge.

He warned me it would be diffiucult because of multiple moving pieces. Actually a metal part of the mechanism broke while he was working on it (the chair is about 15 years old), and he had it welded and fixed with no extra charge. It did take a bit longer than anticipated, but I had told him earlier that would not be a problem.

I called Tony and explained what I wanted done. He brought fabric samples to my office, examined the loveseat, made recommendations about firmer cushions, and left the sample books with me. Unfortunately my first choice had been discontinued, so I went to his shop to look at more samples. I loved the feel of the place, a hodge podge of stuff, and family members coming and going. He seated me on the couch and his grandchildren brought fabric books to look at until I found several I liked. I took them back to the office to match the color's there, and chose one. He immediately ordered the fabric, and picked up the couch two or three days later. Three days later, he delivered it back, looking just gorgeous. He did a marvelous job, worked fast, and the couch looks great. I couldn't be happier.

Tony had the leather hide in stock, and we saw the quality of the material before we brought our chairs in. Tony's shop was quick-less than 2 weeks-and reasonable. The work was better than the shop which had covered the same chairs 8 years ago. We would use them again for a similar job.

Tony's work is superb. Walk into the store and you will be amazed at the high quality work on the pieces waiting for pick up. I checked into several other options in town, and he was by far the best. He helped me pick out the fabric. It was ordered and came in after 2 days. I dropped off the chairs and he finished in about 2 days. He explained the work in detail. He carefully placed the chairs in my truck as if they were his own. Don't go anywhere else!

This was a wonderful experience. Tony listened to what I wanted, helped me figure out the yardage and foam cushion size, and had the project done in 3 days--amazing! He used piping on the edges of the cushion and made a zippered closure for it so that we can take it off for washing. The cushions are very professional looking, just beautiful. I am thrilled with how they turned out!

After calling and getting directions from Tony, I stopped by with my chairs to get a cost estimate. Tony was incredibly friendly and gave me a price quote with no pressure to do business with them. Since the store is an all-in-one place, I could observe some of the other pieces being worked on, so felt very comfortable they would do a good job. After picking out some vinyl (Tony has an excellent selection of fabrics, vinyls and leathers to choose from), I left my chairs there. Over the weekend, I decided to change my mind on the color of vinyl, so called Tony early the next day to let him know I needed to change. He was very accommodating. The chairs were done in a week and a half, which was less time than Tony originally quoted. The chairs looked absolutely fantastic! No puckering or bad seams. They looked better than new! These chairs were really tough to re-upholster due to the amount of piping, vinyl fabric and odd curves. He and his crew went above and beyond to make sure they looked fantastic! As I left, I let him know I'd be bringing in my white Ethan Allen couch to get re-upholstered soon!
Description of Work: Replace 100% of vinyl on 4 chairs from 1970.

They turned out looking like new. My wife and I took two chairs, one of which I had taken apart to repair the frame and one that was still together, to Tony at his shop. He confirmed that new webbing as well as new foam cushioning would be needed before recovering with new fabric. While Tony figured out an estimate for all eight chairs, I looked on as my wife paged through tens of fabric books (I believe he said he had about 200 there to look at and it readily appeared there were that many in sight). In the fabric price we were looking at, Tony gave us an estimate of $990.00. We agreed that was fair and reasonable and selected a fabric. We gave him a down payment by check, and he ordered the fabric after first calling his supplier to be sure it was in stock; it was. He said to bring the chairs in on Monday (this was on a Friday) and that he would have them done in two days. We delivered the other six chairs on Monday morning and got a call early Wednesday afternoon informing us they were done and ready to be picked up. I paid the balance due and brought all eight chairs home on Thursday morning. They were as firm and tight and comfortable as they were when they were first made 30 years ago. We could not have been more pleased with the final result including the fabric selection from one of the books Tony picked out for us to examine. I endorse the comments by others that one could not find a more honest and forthright person to deal with; Tony is knowledgeable, personable, friendly and fair. Others working in the shop were equally friendly and helpful. His shop is fairly small and judging by the projects waiting to be picked up, the pieces waiting for work and those in progress, he has good following. It was clear that when Tony gives one a completion date, that's it! One should not be put off by the size of the shop; honesty, fairness and high quality work come out of there.
Description of Work: Eight dining room chairs, 30 years old, needed to have seats and backs reupholstered including replacement of webbing, foam and fabric. They needed to be completely redone, but no other repairs to the frames were necessary.

Tony is the most honest business man I have ever met. He stands behind his work. He is up front about his prices and sticks to them. He walks you through each step of what he plans to do with your furniture. Once it is completed he shows you in detail what he did and if you don't like it he promises to fix it. However, I loved all his work. His prices are a good deal, I know, because I called around. His turn-around time is unheard of; each project took 2-3 days max. Stripes are one of the most difficult fabrics to do, because the lines have to match up even when the fabric is folded over a corner. Tony did an excellent job with this.
Description of Work: Tony recovered six dining room chairs. (The price 384.00 is for the chairs project.) I provided the fabric which had stripes. He was able to match the stripes up perfectly. He also included some high quality foam to fix the seat cushions. He also repaired the strapping on our chairs to make them more durable. I was so impressed with his work, attention to detail, quick turn-around, and honesty I had him do two other projects. I had him recover an antique wing-backed chair and antique sofa. He did such a beautiful job. He was even able to make extra cushion covers. Again, they were done within a week and were both beautifully done. Tony even picked up and delivered the furniture for free.

These chair were barrel-type dining room chairs that were leather-covered - they were so old that their stuffing/padding was horsehair! I was concerned about what might be in there given the 10 years of storage and the over-all age of the chairs. When you walk into Tony's it is clear that they actually do the work on-site. Don't expect anything fancy but their service and pricing are great. I expressed my concerns to Tony who shook my hand and advised me through the process of getting them reupholstered. He even asked for my permission to "clean up" the wooden parts of the chairs (of course!) and fixed the wobbly part of one of the chairs. The estimate for the work to be completed was about a week. They were done in three days. I really cannot speak any more highly of the process. I would guess that if you wanted to special order a material it would take longer and cost more. I am extremely happy with the results.
Description of Work: I had 4 dining room chairs that had been in storage for 10 years and their age was over 40 years old. I recently pulled them out of storage and put them in my dining room. Mouse poop fell out of one of them. This was a call-to-action to reupholster them. Tony's came highly recommended on Angie's List and I can see why. I took them to Tony's. He was very reassuring and assured me that no mice were living in the chairs. I wanted to believe him, but thought they should be recovered anyway. Tony recommended a leather-substitute and gave me a deal on what he had in stock. He said they would be ready in about a week and three days later they were done! His son even dropped them off at my house for me for free. Great experience.

Excellent work, reasonably priced, and very prompt. I bought the fabric months ago and made two of the pillow covers but found I didn't have time to do the project myself. When I called, Tony said he could do it, so I brought the pillows and fabric in right away (I didn't bring the ottoman at first because I didn't know whether there would be enough fabric). Tony called me back two days later, having finished my project already, and he had saved enough fabric to do my ottoman. I brought that in and had it back in two days as well. Tony is friendly, straightforward, and takes great pride in his work. There was another guy working there too who was also very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I will take all of my future upholstering projects here. It's an honest, reliable shop. There's no comfy waiting room, but they do really good work quickly.

I first met with Tony to determine how much fabric I would need and get an initial estimate. The fabric had a certain pattern I wanted repeated on the piece in a certain way. His estimate was perfect! I returned with the fabric, he recommended a three inch cushion and certain foam (which is very comfortable), he thought cording on the piece would make it show off very well. He searched around his workplace and found a great fabric to go with the fabric I selected. He finished the piece ahead of schedule and on budget. The seat cushion looks great! I get tons of compliments on it! Tony knows his business very well and is devoted to developing a great piece. The window seat was a very odd shape and he fit it perfectly!

I was able to bring the chair in immediately. We quickly agreed on a price that I was comfortable with. I was happy with the selection of fabrics available and quickly found one of a color and quality I liked. Tony was familiar with this type of older chair, so it was easy to discuss some of the additional repair work, other than upholstery, that needed to be done. The work was done within a week, as promised, and I am happy with the results. Tony's staff helped load the chair in our van when my wife picked it up. Tony was friendly and easy to talk to, very straightforward, and accommodating. Some people might not like the fact that this small store looks more like a workshop than a showroom, but I have no issue with that and rather prefer it. I was comfortable with the informal ''handshake'' basis on which we arranged the transaction, and everything was done as stated. I found only minor flaws, one tack sticking out and one small chip in the wood, both easily fixed.
Description of Work: They did a reupholster of an old (1950s) platform spring rocking chair, reglued and braced the platform, replaced the springs, replaced the pad in the seat, replaced missing buttons on the back, and touched up the exposed wood at the end of the arms.
