SWENSON'S WORKSHOP LLC

Description of Work: 1. Transformed old 5' x 6' bathroom with standard bathtub, toilet, washbasin and window into an all tile ADA-accessible walk-in shower, with glass block window. Installed wall-hung toilet to allow access for walker & wheelchair, which also required replacing standard door with pocket door. Installed two much needed small cabinets between the studs. | |2. Transformed dark basement shower. Replaced concrete floor and cinder block walls with tiled floor, two tiled walls (with very nice recessed shelf), and glass blocks for the remainder. Shower is now very attractive, light and functional. | |3. Swenson's discovered that previous roofer had nailed through shingles, and installed protective waterproof membrane under the shingles incorrectly, causing rotted wood. Roof was 15 years old. Swenson's replaced the wood, and installed architectural quality shingles with a 30 year-warranty. Their roofing sub-contractor is excellent. We had excessive water run-off in valley between old roof and a newer addition. Ivan Swenson knew immediately how to fix this problem - he installed a "cricket". | |4. Replaced old rotting wood steps at front and back of house with attractive wrought-iron railings, and gray composite steps. | |5. Hot-roofing - foam insulating in entire attic. Replacement of rotting north facing wood window with smaller glass-block window, with small ventillation section with screen. | |Note: I would rate Swenson's Workshop as A-. All of the above-noted work was done over a period of several years, and in general we were very satisfied with everything. More attention to detail was needed with measuring and installing wrought-iron railings, and assembly of small wooden bathroom stool, and we should have asked for more detailed invoices. Otherwise, great people to work with, very responsive, and very kind. My 96-year old mother lived with us at the time of the bathroom work, and they really tried to expedite everything for her benefit. | |My husband and I had consulted several people for help with the upstairs bathroom and the basement shower. Because of space limitations, and our house is 100 years old, no one knew how to do what we needed, except for Ivan Swenson. Ivan is very knowledgeable, very experienced, and creative.

Description of Work: Contractor repaired roof, walls, back and front porch, and basement. Contractor also managed internal renovation of kitchen (including granite counter tops and tile back splash) and painting (full house: internal and external).
