The kitchen cabinet doors came out very well, The table tops look very nice. My only concern was that the finish (varnish) was not as high a gloss as the rest of the table. Jane offered to take a look at them and talk to the "refinisher". After having them in our home for a few weeks, I decided they were good enough as it might be difficult to duplicate a "factory finish". They do look very nice.
Description of Work: Refinish parts of kitchen cabinet doors (under the knobs/pulls) but not the rest of the door, a very difficult task. Resurfaced tops of two end tables.

They picked the chair up when they said they would, replaced the wire support, and returned the chair within a week. Very good customer service, though a bit pricier than I expected.

The finished product - both the chair and the table - are beautiful. If you are looking for quality work, these people will deliver. Eventually. We were told that it would take 3 months, and we weren't in any hurry, so that was fine. The table actually took just under five months, and the chair took 7 months. To be fair, the person who does their upholstery work was apparently out for a while unexpectedly for some reason, but I wasn't actually told that until I called asking questions about when the chair would be done.

Description of Work: They gave us a price, and date when our door would be done. I think we paid some amount down, perhaps half the cost. The job was done when they said it would be, just as they promised.

I looked forever for a wing back chair in the new stores. Could not find one, turns out wing backs are now outdated, and the replacements they make are modern and uncomfortable. So I started looking for a used one that I liked. Found a pretty chair at the Goodwill for $7.00, and took it immediately to them. I was NOT in a hurry, so I just left them alone to do it as they pleased. I picked out a colorful fabric that they ordered for me. They called me when it was finished, and I picked it up on Saturday. It was Gorgeous! They said the fabric was so beautiful, that another person saw it and wanted that fabric for their chair. It is a very comfortable chair NOW, and so beautiful!
Description of Work: Stripped down and recovered old upholstered wing back chair, re glued corners, and restrung seat, added padding.

Description of Work: Our gliding dutailier rocking chair was not gliding smoothly and making clunking noise. We brought it there--after we explained the issue, the employee from Strippers offered to see if he could fix it while we wait. 15 minutes later he fixed it, and wouldn't take any money from us, said he was happy to help. We again tried to pay him, he declined, and just said come back in the future, or refer friends.

Let me start by saying that the sea chest (a family heirloom from Finland) looks absolutely fantastic. It took six months for them to get it done, however. I inherited the chest when my mother passed away--I dropped it off at Strippers immediately to have all the hinges redone, straps replaced, some of the metalwork bent back into shape, and woodwork refinished. This wasn't a small task. But it dragged on and on. At one point I was asked to order some of the parts that were needed. I refused, of course--that is why I hired someone to do the work. I wasn't really in an hurry to get the piece back at first, so I didn't put pressure on the repair guy, but obviously the job was taking too long. Finally I told them I was tired of all the back and forth and I was coming to pick it up unfinished, and the repair guy was snippy and said fine, I could have it. He obviously put in a late night to get it finished, because when I arrived the next day all the work was done. I walked in ready to demand a substantial discount, but frankly was shocked at how good the chest looked. The guy doing the repairs wasn't around when I went to pick it up, but there were two other VERY pleasant employees , and we all just took some time to look the chest over--everyone was stunned by the work. I paid full price without a word. I'm looking at the chest right now and despite the immense hassle, I'm still happy with the piece. So take this review for all its worth--the work was awesome, the service was an immense headache. I've actually considered using them again. I'm sure if I had stayed on top of the project it would have gotten back sooner, but it's nice to work with a professional who rocks at deadlines and customer service. Such is life.

This was an oak lamp table that had been in my father's family (so I have a strong sentimental attachment to it) and dated to the late 1800's; it still had the original stain and finish, and was badly in need of refinishing. The wood was very dry, and there was a large water stain. The owner was very thorough in explaining the process of stripping and reassured me it wouldn't damage the wood. He also helped me pick out the stain and type of finish for the table. The project took longer than he estimated, but that wasn't an issue for me as I wasn't in a hurry. He wasn't able to completely remove the water stain, but with the new stain and finish it just gives the table and quot;characterand quot;. I was very pleased with the finished table - it looks like new (a new antique, that is)
Description of Work: Stripped and refinished an antique lamp table. The wood was quite dry and there was a large water stain which he did his best to sand away. He also repaired the wobbly legs.

They did a good job. The one thing that bothered me was that they took a longer time than they said to complete the work. It was not urgent, though, so it wasn't a big issue. I plan to use them again and think they do good work.

It's done when they say it'll be done. It's good quality. They get whatever they are stripping off and the wood is in great shape for refinishing. Prices start at about a $1 a linear foot for molding and they'll quote you the price for stripping before they start the work.

They did it in a timely manner. The results are not great, however, but I am unsure if it is because of the work quality or the fact that the holes had been stripped so many times and the frame couldn't be repaired in the same location for a fourth time. I have used them in the past and they did good work.

Metal enclosure was completely cleaned and ready for another vendor to apply porcelain paint. Grill was difficult to strip and gave me fits when I tried to do it myself. I have used this firm for stripping and refinishing 4 different types of wood furniture or frames and have always been satisfied with their work.
