Excellent from start to finish! I emailed my concerns to the St. Paul Pipeworks online contact (no hot water coming out of our new kitchen faucet) and followed up with a phone call about two hours later. I would definitely use the phone first next time...much faster response. The dispatcher, Charlie, was courteous and had the plumber, Craig, at my house within an hour. Craig diagnosed the problem immediately and completed the entire job in about thirty minutes. I even got a discount on the faucet repair because it went so fast! I won't hesitate to use St. Paul Pipeworks again!
Description of Work: The plumber replaced three stop valves under the kitchen sink (hot, cold, and dishwasher supply) and unclogged a new kitchen faucet (old deteriorated rubber washers from old chrome stops were lodged in the cartridge).

Sense this is the second time this company has come to our home its kind of a double review. Both times it was our kitchen sink they worked on. First time they came as soon as they could and replaced a faulty faucet and suggested the brand and ordered it for us. We love the new faucet and it works great. Second time our kitchen sink was plugged and wouldn't drain. Kind of messy. They came day after I called and did a great job of unplugging the pipes and it works really great. They are timely, professional, clean, and make sure you are happy before they leave. We are going to have them come this spring and replace old galvenized pipes and help with a bathroom remodel as well.
Description of Work: we had a plugged line from our kitchen sink and it was a mess. They came on time and very quickly.

We bought a new washer but the installer could not unscrew the old hose from the faucet. He suggested I call a plumber because he didn’t want to break the pipe. I consulted Angie's List catalog for a plumber in my area. Called St. Paul Pipeworks and spoke with John Nalley. He told me he would send Craig over THAT SAME DAY! Craig checked out the water pipe to make sure it wasn't leaking; and got the old hose off and put the new hose on the faucet in less than 30 minutes. Best plumber I've used in years!

Water heater failed suddenly just before Thanksgiving. Charlie came out on very short notice and walked me through the options for new water heaters. We decided on a tankless heater after having a long conversation about where it would be placed, how it would work, and the costs and benefits of different options?all of which Charlie wrote out for me, and even gave me information on the different brands and models they work with so we could look them up ourselves. Provided cost estimates for each option, and the one we chose was within $50 of estimate. Great service. We couldn't get install done until after Thanksgiving, but removal and install done in about 4 hours. I had someone come out to check for a gas leak later, and a faulty union was replaced?no charge. They have been great about calling and scheduling each time. Very, very happy with the service. I've used other plumbers in town for years but seriously no more. I wouldn't call anyone else now.
Description of Work: Removal of old water heater, install of tankless water heater. Later replacement of faulty gas union.

We discovered the leakage about 10 AM on a Friday, called them, and they arrived within about a half hour. They said they had canceled a staff meeting in order to service us, so we felt very lucky. Our old gas water heater was about 20 years old, had rusted through, and leaked much of its contents on the floor. Phil disconnected and took out the old heater, they took it upstairs and out to their truck, brought down a new A.O. Smith 40-gallon gas water heater, and connected it up, probably all within 3 or 4 hours or so. They certainly were prompt in getting here, and seemed very professional. The heater itself cost $1169, plus $48 for a "short style" (to fit in the space I guess) totaling $1217, plus $89 service call less $50 since referred by Angies list, so a total of $1256. I had no time to check prices other places so my rating on price is simply influenced by their excellent rating in other categories.
Description of Work: Replaced the water heater in the basement which had leaked all over the basement floor.

On Saturday afternoon of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, I discovered my water softener had sprung a leak at the connector to the water pipes. I made several calls to businesses listed on Angie;s list. I was able to speak to one business immediately, but had to wait until Sunday afternoon for someone to come out. The next call I made was to St Paul Pipeworks; they answered immediately; Charlie the plumber and his wife were driving home from Wisconsin. He said he would come out as soon as they got home from the road trip. I left messages with 3 businesses asking for a return phone call ASAP. I have yet to hear from any of them. Charlie was at my home at 7 PM and was able to disconnect the water softener to prevent more water from leaking. He was very professional, considerate and explained everything he needed to do to resolve the problem. He also made recommendations concerning future plumbing projects that need to be done.
Description of Work: Stopped a leaking water softener.

Charlie and his crew were great, they were able to start the project right away and they were very clear as to what we should expect regarding time, cost and work load. They had to jackhammer up our basement floor and replace a feeder drain pipe to our main line for our home. The laundry tub needed to be removed and replaced also. It was a big project and they wrapped it up in 4 days and we are good as new - maybe better.

When I called them they took the time to answer all my questions. On the day of the appointment they (Phil) showed up right on time. He reviewed the work I wanted done,, including the prices (no surprises). He did a terrific job, fixing the problems and cleaning up afterwards. I was even able to get a couple extra repairs done that same day, which I appreciated very much. I was completely satisfied with the service and price, and will use them for additional work I have planned.

Considering that homeowner started with a defective water heater, went great. We got Rheem support to send needed parts. Pipeworks stuck with us through installing those parts and further diagnosis. Pipeworks billed us for the added time, but collected only after we got reimbursed from Rheem. Pipeworks was very understanding, patient and professional through the process! Recommended!
Description of Work: Install new water heater that homeowner had purchased. When that unit didn't work, Charlie and Co. assisted with troubleshooting and worked with Rheem to resolve the issues.

I had an old pipe start a relatively major leak underneath my kitchen sink. After taking a look at it myself, an original galvanized pipe had finally given up, and developed a 1/4" hole that burst through. Unfortunately it was on a pipe that went into the wall, and wasn't easy to get out. After calling around, St Paul Pipeworks was extremely flexible and responsive in scheduling a service call. When Phil showed up, we did a walkthru of each item that needed to be addressed, and I was provided estimates for each job. He was professional about the work, and kept the areas tidy, cleaning up after he'd finished each project. He worked quickly, and finished everything in about 2 hours. I was impressed with the quality of the work.

No-frost faucets have pipes that extend far into the house. The front faucet pipe was fairly easy to get to as it extended into the basement laundry room which has a drop ceiling. The backyard faucet pipe, however, extends into a finished part of the basement which meant Charlie had to cut a section out of the wall. He cut a nice neat square allowing access and then put a fairly invisible access door over that. No need to get someone in to do an additional repair on the wall and no need to cut into the wall again as now there is that little door. He was here a couple of hours. Replacing two leaking outside faucets sounded easy but when they are frost-free faucets, not so easy. Charlie is an amazing, affable, very competent and likeable guy. He's done a lot of work in my house over the past decade.
Description of Work: The outside faucets, front and back, were leaking badly.

On time, fast, answered all of our questions. Professional and clear, communicated early about arrival, wok duration. Total downtime was a couple hours, not a problem even though we have only the single bath. Cleaned up and disposed of packing. We had also asked for a price for tub replacement (1950's vintage) which we chose not to do since pricey -- would need several trades in to repair affected tile, walls, marble floor, etc. St. Paul Pipeworks gave us a clear bid, and also recommended a commercial/residential tub refinisher, whom we later hired. It was a good lead to another quality outfit.

Compared to other people that we had priced out, their pricing was much better. They were very helpful. They were able to spot some other issues ahead of time that they were able to recommend for us to fix. They were very timely. So we had very good experience with them. The work turned out very well. We haven't had any issues since.

He generally did a good job and accomplished his work. We've used them several in the past and they're good people. They were cheaper than the bigger plumber that escorted us. They did a little extra job and they're above and beyond their duty. They were punctual that they were there when they said they would. The confidence of their work is also improving.

They were good. They are willing to work with one brand of material, which is a giant advantage. The service went pretty well. I am actually thinking of hiring them again real soon to fix some plumbing some other plumbers did wrong. Their price was cheap. They are always professional - use shoe covers when they do the work, even if it means taking them off and putting them on several times during trips to the truck for parts. I trust them to do professional work that will last. They are also located in my neighborhood and I like to support local businesses.
Description of Work: Water was leaking through the kitchen ceiling recessed lights. They diagnosed the cause - leaking from upstairs bathroom - consulted an outside company to pinpoint the leak - and fixed it the same day. While they were here they also replaced the water shut off valve in the basement.

I believed this trap to be the cause of the bathtub backing up. The company took a look and deduced that to properly replace the trap, they would have to cut to the main line, which would have involved cutting through the kitchen ceiling and driving the cost above $1000. I had $350 in mind. Luckily for me, and thanks to their expertise, they deduced that the problem was not with the trap, but farther down the line. They cleared the line, replaced the cap on the drum trap, and tested to make sure the line was unclogged. They also recommended a product I could get to keep the pipe clear of organic material (hair primarily) without damaging the pipes. They were diligent about laying down floor mats and keeping the house clean. They were also friendly, courteous, and punctual. I gave the price tag a B because it was high for a drain cleaning, but that's the plumbing industry for you. All in all I was still impressed.
