I was very, very pleased with their painter who came out. He was very easy to work with. They did a very good job, they cleaned up and everything. I have expensive gardens and they didn't damage anything. I would give them an A because I looked into some other people who advertise in our local neighborhood newspaper and had them come out and bid the job and this service provider came in much less.The completely cleaned up afterwards, I didn't find anything.

I've used Spartan before for a 1/2 bath remodel. This time I had them take care a bunch of small projects that needed to get done. Spartan quickly got me on their schedule and all the work was completed within a week. I was very happy with the work done and their professionalism.

It went great. The biggest mistake I made in this kitchen remodel was not to call Spartan first. I called just to have existing cabinets installed. Most companies scoffed or didn't seem interested. Mike came over right away assigned his cabinet maker to the project and ended finishing the rest of the project including floor, trim, countertops and glass tile. They finished the project off nicely. They will be my company for any other work I will be doing over the next few years.

Mike showed up as scheduled. I have never done a remodel so had a lot of questions, Mike put me at ease and was very thorough in explaining everything. I also got an estimate on some door and deck work. Within a few days Mike emailed separate detailed estimates. Circumstances have forced me to postpone my remodel but I plan on using Spartan when the time comes.

The initial visit to estimate the cost and supplies needed was great; Mike came out and did an assessment for me. He was very nice and easy to talk to. The two guys who came and did the work were excellent. They were very professional and very courteous to my wife and I while they were working. They cleaned up very well after themselves which was great. The finished product was amazing! Even with an uneven floor and walls that were not level, they did an incredible job making the entire basement look amazing. It definitely looks like it was done by professionals and has really made the basement look nice. I would highly recommend these guys based on this job. If you need excellent trim work done anywhere, they are very good at it. If this job is any reflection of what they can do overall, then I would definitely hire them again.

It didn't! I started calling and/or emailing on June 6th and a couple times he left a message that he'd "call me back", but never did. Finally on June 20th, I'd had enough. All I wanted was a **** estimate! He was very unprofessional! I shouldn't have to chase after him! Maybe he's good at what he does, but getting there to find that out wasn't worth it.

I called and Mike answered right away. He was very nice but unavailable to get the job done as quickly as I would like. He was honest and upfront about this. I certainly would call him again for future work

Spartan was unable to do the work within the time frame I required. The representative I spoke to was professional and honest. He offered to help me get a refund from Angie's List if I needed assistance. I would have hired Spartan if they could have done the work I needed before I put my house up for sale. He had just taken on two major projects and was unable to commit to mine. I appreciated his honesty. He promptly responded to my request, explained his situation and then called me back the next day as he said he would. If you aren't on an immediate time schedule, I would recommend Spartan.

Painting was not done. Not a good experience, particularly communication was at a snail rate. The initial estimate provided was cost prohibitive and I made multiple attempts to negotiate for a limited scope of work based on my pre-paid amount and it resulted in a failed appointment. The pre-paid amount has been refunded by Angie's.

I was very pleased with the work done. The work was outstanding and the guys were professional and were extremely nice. They answered all my questions and made me feel at ease with the entire project. I would hire them again!

I took off work early to meet Mike to look over my project. Mike came off very professional I was excited to work with him. Mike took pictures, took dimensions and built rapport. I told Mike I've got other jobs also if this works out. I waited weeks, heard nothing so I text Mike. I was told he'd try to get it done early in the week as it was a Sunday I texted him. After another week went by I heard nothing. I text Mike again I told him you must not be interested. Mike text back and said big projects took him away from doing my bid but it'd be done by late morning. End of day, no bid from Mike. I text Mike and tell him forget it, if this is how you treat me on a bid I am sure you'd treat me the same way on the project. I told Mikevid be dropping this note on Angie's list. Mike sent a final text back playing it off that perhaps even though all I wanted was a bid he thought it was to late. Clearly an excuse, I'm told he fell behind when big jobs needed him. Then I got the old "good luck with your project". As if to rub it in my face. CAUTION if this guy Mike gets a better bigger job he will leave you waiting. Nothing not one word from him unless I reached out. Just left hanging and wondering. Now I've lost almost a month on my project. Mike could have cared less for professionalism or good communication. Just left hanging because my job wasn't big enough or important enough. Good luck if you have a big job in your mind, little job in Mike Svenson. President of Spartan Inc.

Arrived as scheduled on both days and everything was completed on time. Dave did a very nice CLEAN job with the vanity top--looks/works great! Appreciate he even went the extra mile adding in missing shut off valves! Mark also did a nice job with the kitchen faucet and it's great to finally have the unfinished trim work completed! Both handymen cleaned up after themselves. Would hire them again.

It was great. I didn't pay more than the deal. He was very good and efficient. He didn't charge me when he needed to run and get equipment which I appreciated. He did a very good job. He cleaned up after himself.

It was very difficult to schedule a time (it took over a week of inconsistent communication), however the guy that came out was fantastic! I needed a ceiling fan installed and he went out of his way to buy extra pieces that were needed (that ultimately saved me money) to do the job correctly. He spent close to three hours installing my fan---it would've taken me 6!---and I was so happy with the result. The unresponsiveness seems to be from the increased business they have been getting and not the resources to deal with it. Good problem for them!

Did a very nice job and the crew was knowledgeable.

Installation went great, expertly done, great clean up followed by explanation of how to use. Had some difficulty scheduling the work. I purchased the service and did not hear from the company for a week. When contact was made I was told they had been very busy, and that someone would be in touch with me. There was another misunderstanding on scheduling when I requested a Friday no one showed, but I heard from them the following Monday. Work was then scheduled for Wednesday and completed.

Great. The service was prompt. The work was top notch, and the workman super competent. We've already brought them back for one additional project.

It went really well They showed up at the precise time they told me and everything I wanted to do. I even changed my mind on the color and thy accommodated me. I am happy I went with Angie's list. Now I know where to go when I need things done. That's a great comfort to me.

Scheduling was fine. Mike is very responsive. However, John's painting could have been better. We needed three rooms painted and I wish he would have said he needed more time to do second or third coats. He got the three rooms painted, but the coverage wasn't great. We needed it to look good for realtor showings. I don't know if this was more of a communication mix-up or what. We hired painters because we thought that they would have a good idea of what was needed for coverage. I think he worked hard to get everything done within the allotted time which is nice, but it maybe made more sense to try to schedule more time and have a better final product even if it costs more than the original deal. I would only hire again if I talked to the painter and knew what could really be accomplished well in the allotted time.

Mike came out to inspect the repair work the same day I called. He had a repairman out the following day to complete the work which involved removing gutters, soffit and facia to get to the rotted area. Great job, done quickly and professionally at a very fair price. Will use Spartan again when needed.

They have been awesome. They are real easy to work with and to schedule time and everything.

I had tried to get this done on my own, and couldn't find anyone to do it. Mike, at Spartan Inc., in North St. Paul, not only found someone that could supply the door, but in addition removed the old door, disposed of it, and installed the new one. It saved my a lot of money, based on what I was told from other sellers and installers.

We hired Spartan to be general contractor for our bathroom remodel job. Spartan was very accommodating and flexible with the planning... willing to work with us at any level, doing all the work or working around what we were willing to do ourselves. We eventually settled on Spartan doing about 90% of the work. This included demoing the bathroom, removing all fixtures, installing a shower system & bench, all the tile, moving the location and installing a new shower fan. We had a bit of back and forth with deciding what to do with the tub, but eventually decided to them replace it. We purchased all the fixtures, tile, tub, sinks, vanity, exhaust fan, shower door. We kept only the toilet, which was newer. So the price mentioned above was primarily labor/install costs of all these items. Seemed a bit high to us, all said and done. On the other hand, Spartan is very detailed in their billing and invoicing, which allows you to see specifically where your money was spent. Let's dispense with the bad first (and the reasons for a "B" grade). We originally hoped the messy parts of the job could be done while we were on spring break vacation. But during that time, a leak went unnoticed, resulting in basement ceiling damage. To their credit, Spartan took full responsibility, cleaned up and fixed the basement ceiling, but it was a timing setback. So when we returned, the job hadn't really started. That issue set us a week back... but even after that, the job seemed to plod along slowly, in the end taking about twice as long as we had hoped & planned (taking two months as opposed to one). After the pipe leak, there were a few more water related issues. Several times during the work, our toilet in the master bathroom stopped working (pressure changes in supply tripping a supply line shutoff). There was also an issue with the sink shutoff placements that resulted in another leak toward the end of the job (no damage this time - but annoying). So it was demoralizing to see how much we were paying the plumber (sub-contracted by Spartan, but we paid them - Manship Plumbing - with separate checks). Again, Spartan felt bad enough about the issues that they offered to paint the bathroom for free for us. Something we had originally planned to do ourselves. It was a nice "service recovery" by Spartan. So... onto the good. As I mentioned before, Spartan was incredibly flexible and accommodating in planning/designing, using those ideas we came up with, providing valuable input and guidance. Additionally, the quality of the work they did (tiling, wall movement/repair, ceiling patching/spraying, etc)... was all top notch. We're especially happy with the tile work on the floors and in the shower. So... would I hire them again? Recommend them to others? Yes. I especially appreciated the honest approach and taking responsibility for those things that went wrong. I do wish things would have gone smoother... and quicker.... but we're ultimately very happy with the results.
