Roof to Deck Restoration

I found this company to be completely professional and courteous. They do a great job of informing the customer of the process of deck cleaning and restoring. My deck, which had not been touched in at least a decade, was completely gray and awful looking. It now looks great. I would definitely use this company again.

Deck looks GREAT and they speak very professionally. However, I am VERY disppointed with the experience. The bid doesn't include replacing wood. Had I not called, I wouldn't have known. I got the wood myself, after 5 phone calls and 3 weeks to get the measurements and wood type from them. I'm not a carpenter, I rely on them. After wood repair, they said 3 weeks until cleaning. After 4 weeks, I called. From the girl's response, they had forgotten to schedule the rest of the work. I accepeted the bid in early May, they finished in mid-July. I paid promptly as they did work. I was away after the stain, they had the nerve to call within 2 weeks wanting payment for the stain. I can understand 4-6 weeks, but 14 days after I waited 2 months with NO apology is ridiculous. AND the invoice was backdated 4 weeks to June appearing 6 weeks overdue. I repeatedly asked them to call me at work with answers to my questions, which they never did UNTIL they called me for money. The hassle isn't worth it.

Overall an A from answering phones, to giving an estimate to completing the work as promised.

A real person answered the phone. I requested an estimate and was told I would receive one by mail within a couple of weeks. I received a brochure prior to the written estimate within the promised time. I scheduled the work and they arrived and did the work when scheduled. I was not home when they did the work. The roof looked great and they cleaned up very nicely. There was a lot of black on the north side of the roof with just a few clean streaks and it really looked awful. It was bothering me everytime I drove by my house. It now looks like new and, in fact, I've been asked if I got a new roof.

They came out and said they would send an estimate, that turned out to be 3 times the cost of anyone else. Later said that was due to a math error. They scheduled a time to come out and do it. I had to call 4 times to have them bring samples out for the stain on the deck and never saw anything until the day before the staining was supposed to happen, only after talking to Mgmt. When the samples finally came, they seemed to be wrong and the employee wasn't sure why. When we finally got the right samples, I had to pick between two that moment before they started the work. After the staining, I noticed several spots where the wood was not stained, a few places being under gates that they had stained as well. I talked to the manager, Steve, again and he said he would come and check things out. He did not show on the date we set, he said he forgot, then did not show when we rescheduled an appt. He has still not come out and I have been trying to get a hold of him with no success.

I tried to schedule my deck project in August last year, but had no luck getting 2 separate companies to even call me back, despite the fact that a neighbor highly recommended one of the companies. It got to be late in the season, so I waited until this summer. Based on my frustrations with these 2 contractors, I decided to join Angie's List! I selected Roof-to-Deck based on the good feedback here, and I wasn't disapppointed. They sent someone out to give me an estimate within only a few days of my phone call, and told me upfront that it looked like they wouldn't be able to schedule my job until 5 weeks out. I was pleasantly surprised when they called to say they were able to come out after only 3 weeks (I think good weather helped). They power washed the deck on a Tuesday and came back on Thursday to stain it. They do a very good job of giving you information about how to care for your deck and the process they use to clean/stain it. I am very happy with the job they did.

They were prompt in giving me the estimate and said it would be about 5 weeks before they could do the work, weather dependant. After 4 weeks they called to say they were going to be out the next day to clean the deck. The young man was polite and did a good job, even washing off my deck furniture and side of the house. A few days later I received a call early in the morning saying they would be out in 45 minutes to stain/seal the deck. I rushed out of bed to sweep the debris that had fallen on it, but they didn't actually arrive until 6pm. The girl stated they had another job to do before mine. They were finished in half an hour and left the empty bucket for me to dispose of. This is fine, as their literature states this, but they left it on the freshly stained deck! They also did not pound the protruding nail(s)or leave me a spray container for touch-ups as their literature states they would. Overall, I am satisfied with the service they provided and would use them again.

My roof looks great, and the moss is all gone. A coupon for 10% was missed, and I let the company know my discount had not been taken off my total. About a week later, I received a check for 50.00 and a coupon for a free pie from Bakers Square. How cool is that? I was very pleased with the work done as well as the oversight in my discount, which was taken care of very quickly.

See report of October, 2005, in which I issued grade of ''F'' because promised quote was not received. Rep called today (2/8/06) to call on my grade of ''F'' for not sending promised quote last October. Rep claims quote was promptly mailed. I never received it. Rep complained because I didn't follow up last October with call asking why quote had not been received as promised. Of course, Rep didn't call me either - until today.In view of this, in fairness to Roof To Deck Restoration, my grade of ''F'' should probably be retracted and replaced with ''undetermined'' or equivalent. As of this date, I have no work experience with this contractor on which to issue a grade. House has since been sold.

We had used another company in the past and were somewhat disappointed when we found out that they had gone out of business. However, we were very impressed with Roof to Deck. They were very courteous. When we called early in the spring they were just getting started. They seemed to loose our info and we had to call again in which the owner apologized. They came out and gave us an estimate right away. We agreed to the service and they did a great job on our deck and also the fence in our backyard. They both looked like new. We noticed some fading after a couple of months in certain areas and they came out the same week and put another quote of stain on the area at no charge. We were extremely satisfied with the service and the follow up.

ESTIMATOR CAME OUT WHEN PROMISED, BUT DID NOT WANT TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS, HE TOLD ME TO WAIT FOR THE ESTIMATE. TWO DAYS LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER SAYING THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE WORK BECAUSE MY DECK HAD A COATING THEY ARE UNABLE TO REMOVE.

ON 10/13/05 UPON MY CALL TO COMPANY, FOR ROOF CLEANING SERVICE (ALGAE AND MOSS ON ASPHALT SHINGLES) WAS ADVISED REPRESENTATIVE WOULD VIEW ROOF AND OFFER A QUOTE FOR WORK. ON 10/17/05 REP VIEWED ROOF AND LEFT LITERATURE AND NOTE SAYING QUOTE WOULD FOLLOW BY MAIL. AS OF 10/26/05, NOTHING HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

INITIALLY WE CHOSE THIS COMPANY BECAUSE OF THEIR CLAIMS TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT OUR DECK, WHICH IS A LARGE PART OF OUR HOME. THE FIRST LOOK AND EXPERIENCE WAS VERY GOOD, BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY CAN STAY IN BUSINESS AND OPERATE THIS WAY. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT MOLD THE SECOND TIME, MY CALL WAS NOT RESPONDED TO AFTER TWO WEEKS, SO I CALLED BACK AND INSISTED ON SPEAKING WITH A MANAGER. STEVE EVERHART WAS THE PERSON I DEALT WITH. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH OUR DECK IN ANY OF OUR PRIOR CLEANING & STAINING.

I GOT THE BID DURING THE SUMMER AND WHEN I DIDN'T RESPOND I GOT A LETTER IN LATE SUMMER OFFERING ME A DISCOUNT FROM MY EARLIER BID. I GUESS SOMETIMES PROCRASTINATION DOES PAY OFF. THEY CAME AND DID WHAT THEY WERE HIRED TO DO IN A TIMELY MANNER. I CAN'T COMMENT ON THE PRICE BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET ANY OTHER BIDS BUT I ORIGINALLY DIDN'T HIRE THEM BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED HIGH.

THE COMPANY'S SERVICE WAS GREAT. THEY PROVIDED EFFICIENT AND ACCURATE BIDS FOR THE WORK. THEY SCHEDULED OUR SERVICE QUICKLY AND THE GUYS WHO DID THE WORK WERE METICULOUS. WE WERE DELIGHTED WITH OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY.

THEY DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB. TOTAL PROFESSIONALS FROM BEGINNING TO END. THEY WERE WONDERFUL.

POSITIVE! PLEASE CONTACT US EARLY NEXT SUMMER TO REDO OUR CEDAR ROOF.

WHEN I CALLED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE MY DECK WASHED AND STAINED, I ASKED FOR ONE-TWO DAYS NOTICE, BECAUSE I HAD TO FIND SOME PLACE TO STORE THE DECK FURNITURE AND LOCATE HELP TO MOVE THE DECK FURNITURE. TURNS OUT THEY CALLED AT 6 PM AND SAID THEY'D BE OUT THE NEXT MORNING. THAT WASN'T GOOD. THE FIRST VISIT WAS TO POWER WASH THE DECK. I HAD TO LEAVE WHILE IT WAS BEING DONE, AND ASKED THE TECHNICIAN TO BE SURE TO POUND IN THE NAILS, WHICH HE SAID HE WOULD DO. THIS WAS ALSO PROMISED IN THE MARKETING MATERIALS. ON THE SECOND VISIT, TO STAIN THE DECK, DIFFERENT TECHNICIANS REALIZED THE NAILS HAD NOT BEEN POUNDED DOWN. I WAS DISAPPOINTED, SINCE I'D NOT ONLY BEEN PROMISED THIS IN THE MARKETING PIECES, BUT HAD ALSO ASKED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS TO BE DONE. OVERALL, THE DECK LOOKS GOOD, AND I WILL USE THIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE. THEY PROMISE THEIR STAIN/SEAL PRODUCT IS THE BEST, SO WE'LL SEE! HOWEVER, NEXT TIME I WILL BE EVEN MORE SPECIFIC IN WHAT I AM ASKING FOR.

WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY RESPONDED QUICKLY WITH THEIR ESTIMATE. ONCE WE ACCEPTED THEIR BID, THEY LET US KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD DO THE WORK. IT TOOK THEM ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS TO GET TO OUR JOB BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER, WHICH THEY TOLD US UP FRONT. THEY SHOWED UP RIGHT WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. OUR DECK LOOKS GREAT, THANKS FOR A GREAT JOB!!

WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE QUALITY OF WORK AND THE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.

RESPONSIVE WITH BID AND WORK SCHEDULED. DECK WASH LOOKED GREAT, I WAS CONCERNED WITH THE STAIN COAT. CALLED TO ASK HOW MANY COATS WERE APPLIED AND FOR THE 10% CREDIT ADVERTISED. WAS TOLD 'TWO COATS ARE ALWAYS APPLIED, THREE IF NEEDED'. I FELT ANOTHER COAT WAS NEEDED, STEVE OFFERED TO STOP BY AND LOOK. I CALLED BACK AND SAID HE DIDN'T NEED TO VISIT BUT PLEASE APPLY THE CREDIT. THE WORK WAS DONE THE END OF APRIL, WE DIDN'T RECEIVE THE CREDIT UNTIL THE END OF JULY, AFTER MANY TELEPHONE CALLS. ALONG WITH THE CREDIT, THE OWNER CALLED WITH AN APOLOGY AND SENT A WRITTEN NOTE WITH A CERTIFICATE FOR A PIE AT BAKERS SQUARE. THAT WAS APPRECIATED. THOUGH THEY WERE RESPONSIVE WITH THE BID AND WORK, THEIR RESPONSIVENESS IN WRAPPING UP THE PROJECT, WHICH INCLUDES BILLING, AFFECTS MY RATING. A LESSON LEARNED FOR ME, NEXT TIME WE HAVE DECK WORK DONE, I WILL BE HOME.

THIS COMPANY DID VERY SATISFACTORY WORK FOR ME TWO YEARS AGO AND DID A GOOD JOB FOR ME AGAIN. PERSONNEL WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL, AND THE RESULTS OUTSTANDING.

THEY WERE VERY NICE ON THE PHONE AND DURING THE ON-SITE ESTIMATE. WE WEREN'T HERE WHEN THEY DID THE WORK, BUT THE RESULTS ARE GREAT. DESPITE WHAT I'M SURE IS A BUSY SUMMER WORKLOAD, ROOF-TO-DECK WAS VERY ACCOMMODATING OF OUR SCHEDULE.

WHEN MAKING ARRANGEMENTS, OFFICE PEOPLE WERE VERY POLITE AND RESPONSIVE. WORKER WAS ON TIME AND DID A GOOD JOB CLEANING THE ROOF. BUT, HE SPLATTERED DIRT ON PORCH FURNITURE AND DIDN'T CLEAN UP STUFF FROM THE GUTTERS THAT FELL ON PATIO & YARD. AFTER WE CALLED, HE RETURNED PROMPTLY TO CLEAN UP. HOWEVER, WE HAD CUSHIONS CLEANED. ROOF-TO-DECK WAS VERY APOLOGETIC AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR CLEANING PLUS A $50 REDUCTION ON BILL. I'VE USED THIS COMPANY BEFORE AND WAS HAPPY WITH THE WORK. EVEN THOUGH THE WORKER SCREWED UP, I LIKE THE COMPANY'S ACCOMMODATING ATTITUDE AND THE WILLINGNESS TO MAKE AMENDS.

I CONTACTED ROOF TO DECK FOR AN ESTIMATE ON CLEANING AND SEALING MY DECK IN LATE MAY. BY MID JUNE, I HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING SO I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN. MY REQUEST MUST HAVE BEEN LOST ON THEIR SYSTEM, SO THEY APOLOGIZED AND SAID THEY WOULD SEND SOMEONE OUT. A FEW DAYS LATER, MY NEIGHBOR REPORTED THAT SOMEONE DID STOP BY TO INSPECT MY DECK (HE EVEN REMINDED THEM I WAS A MEMBER OF ANGIE'S LIST!) AS OF TODAY (JULY 13TH) I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING. I'VE HIRED ANOTHER COMPANY (WHO TO DATE HAVE BEEN GREAT!) TO DO THE WORK.
