Roof to Deck Restoration

We were very impressed with Roof to Deck from the first phone call to the final product. They were knowledgeable, professional, efficient and easy to work with. They did an outstanding job on our deck staining! They cleaned off the old stain and applied a new, much higher quality stain that has lasted perfectly. We will only be using them for any future projects!

It went well. Nearby plants/bushes got leaves damaged (turned brown for chemicals in cleaning) but expect they will recover next year.

I hired Roof-to-Deck Restoration for a two part job: restain the deck and powerwash the paver patio under the deck. The patio is about 12'x20' or so. The main goal was that it needed jointing sand and I needed the moss, grass, ant mounts removed along with a gernal cleaning. I infomed them of my intent prior to sending money or anything and they affirmed that the power washing would definitely prep the patio to the point where jointing sand could be applied. Upon completion, the patio was mostly good but there were spots that needed additional work. Not ideal but not a big enough of a deal as I could take care of them myself. The deck (which sits above the patio) desperately needed to be power washed and re-stained. It is a fairly small deck (10'x10' or so). The quote was a little high but I was OK with it as I was presuming they were a top notch company based on reviews. They first came out and power washed/cleaned the deck of the old stain. They had left some pretty large portions that still had stain on them. I contacted them and they commented that they were in fact big and someone came out and cleaned those areas again. The next step was to stain the deck which went well. There were areas that had a significant amount more of stain than the others and other areas that looked like it was barely even touched. Overall it looks good, but knowing about the variation in the amount of stain used in areas hinders my overall opinion of it. Upon completion, I noticed that there were numerous areas puddles of stain on the paver patio that lies under my deck from where the stain dripped from the above deck. Most of them were small (1"-2" in diameter), but they were everywhere. In addition, there were two large areas, one about 12" in diameter and another one that was probably the equivalent of 14-16" in diameter (it was an oblong shape). I informed them of this and they mentioned that they would be sending someone out to clean the stains. They ended up coming out 4 times to try and clean the stains (along with me power washing) but they are still noticeable. The patio bricks look much more worn than the rest of the patio due to the cleaners they have used as well. The manager finally stopped out to take a look at the stains. The overall summary was to just let them sit and hope that they come out over the winter: not exactly what I was wanting to hear. After all is said and done, the deck mainly looks very nice with some areas that could have used more attention. The patio stains though will be a reminder though that I won't hire them again the future.

Our experience has been nothing but frustrating and unfair. We signed their contract and gave them money in spring of 2016. Young, inexperienced guys in their late teens early 20’s just showed up at random times to stain the deck in 2 - 3 hour increments in a span of 3 - 4 months. Twice they did this hours after it rained. The job was complete in October 2016. By spring of 2018 (18 months of stain application) we contacted the company to get a refund and after several weeks heard back from the owner whom told us that it had been past the 2 year mark of a refund (In reality the deck had not been complete for 2 years but the time of signed contract to present had been, so…they got us.). We refused his offer to re-stain the deck at a discount. His reply back to us was, “this is what’s wrong with America”. We ended the conversation and have been stewing at the poor business practices, communication, craftsmanship and product we experienced with this company ever since. I don’t know HOW they have so many good reviews (which is why we chose them in the first place) but for that reason we felt that we needed to share our experience.

It was pretty good right now and I hope it will stays that way.

Went great! Cleaning was the easy part for them to do. Then it was wait for the rain to quit long enough for the wood to dry out. Then the stain and seal was done. Looks so much better than it was and quick and easy response from the office personnel. Workers were polite, friendly, and very helpful answering questions.

Excellent quality of workmanship. Very professional. I would definitely use them again and would recommend to anyone.

Barak and his team did a great job on our front and back decks. It rained unexpectedly and his team came out to touch up where there were minor streaks. He was very prompt with responding to emails. Very good communicator and high quality work done.

Normally, I would not take the time to provide a review for work not performed however, this is such an absurd situation that I feel compelled to share with others. I have had Roof to Deck refinish multiple decks and a play station about 3 times over the last 10 years. The first was an insurance claim related to storm damage. They sent someone out to provide an estimate. Price was reasonable and insurance covered so we had the work done. Then, a couple years later, we had them do the same work except we had removed a section of our deck so they charged $200 less. The third time, the price went back up to the original price but we requested not to do the play set. They made a mistake and did the play set anyway but because their error, did not charge for play set. I just reached out to them again this year to provide a price quote. They told me I would have it by end of that day since I was already on file and should roughly be about the same price. Days went by and I had received nothing so I called back. Received the estimate the next day and it was over double the price I had been paying over the last 10 years. When I questioned it they told me that I had been paying the price for one deck refinishing versus two over the past. This sounded absolutely absurd to me as someone had come out originally and provided the estimate based on the multiple decks. I really can not understand how they have supposedly been mischarging me for 10 years. They seemed firm with their new number(and story) and the most they were willing to do was provide a 10% discount which is already provided as an Angie's List member. I do not know what the deal is with this company but seems to me like they really need to get it together. Was never 100% impressed with their work or scheduling but since they were reasonable and they decks looked ok I just continued to go with them. Now that this has happened and they actually expect that I would come back and pay over double what I was paying I will never use or refer them to anybody. I have used a lot of contractors in my lifetime and never have I come across something so absurd. They should be absolutely embarrassed to provide that kind of explanation for trying to hike the cost for their services.

Roof to Deck Restoration was a very professional and responsive company to work with. They were also more affordable than other local companies. Their communication was great and all of my questions were clearly answered. They did an amazing job on my deck and I am very happy. I look forward to hiring them again in the future to keep my deck properly maintained.

They did a great job overall although we did run into some glitches. The first stain application did not come out very well. But when I sent photos to the company, they agreed to redo the entire job: stripping the old stain off, cleaning and reapplying two coats of stain. There is no doubt that this is a company of integrity that stands behind their work! They redid the deck and applied a different colored stain. The stain they use is ReadySeal, which is a semi-transparent oil-based stain and a very excellent product. For the redo, they sent their two best and experienced workmen and they did an excellent job. Even though it took a long time to finally get the job completed (mainly due to all the rain we had this summer), the final product is excellent. I highly recommend this company!

Went well. Joe was friendly and explained everything to me. They came when they said they would and did a nice job. Everyone I talked to on the phone was very nice.

There was about a month between cleaning the deck and staining/sealing. This was probably mostly due to the amount of rain we had. Then someone came and did the deck posts; a few days later, it looked like the railings had been done, but the deck floor and top of the railing didn't look like they had. I called them and asked if they were finished with my deck. They were, but very professionally and politely said they would send someone out in the next 2 days. He came and agreed the deck needed another coat. It looks pretty good now, but is not quite the quality job I had from them a few years ago.

Perfectly! The people I worked with gave clear instructions in taking care of the deck and railing in the future as well as providing me with a product I can use to make touched up as needed.

The company did a great job starting with booking the job. The office staff was very responsive whenever I called and explained the process. They could not give an exact date to do the work due to the weather but it really didn't matter as no one needed to be home for the estimate or the actual work. The office did call several days before the work was done to advise they were coming and to give instructions as to what we needed to do. (Close the windows). We were not home when the work was done but we were so pleased when we saw our roof. It looked new! They were very thorough. There was no trace they had been there except for the roof itself. We did get a follow up letter after. Very professional. We had used them previously to clean our deck and they did a great job then too.

The representatives in the office and the technicians who did the work were very friendly and answered all of my questions. The work performed was to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, there were problems with scheduling the deck work. I was told the technician would come on a Monday or Tuesday, but unfortunately no one showed up on either day or called to say the job would be delayed. When I called the next day to find out what happened, the office staff did not realize the job wasn't completed. They said they would check into it and get back to me. When they did not respond, I called them,. They had no explanation as to why the technician didn't show up, but rescheduled the job for that Friday. On Friday the technician arrived on time and completed the job. My deck looks great.

The deck turned out beautifully! The office would call and let me know approximately when they would be out to clean the deck and stain the deck. Son came out to inspect the deck before staining and after his report they decided to clean the deck again. Son came back to do the cleaning and staining. Son is very nice and professional and he does a meticulous job! We are very happy with the service! No disappointments here.

The workers were polite and efficient. They were punctual.They wanted to make sure the deck is moisture free before they could seal and paint. They came twice and had to postpone because of moisture. They did a great job and Deck looks new. I also got 10% Angie's discount. Great deal.

Fantastic! The guys at Roof-to-Deck were great! They did a nice job of cleaning up all of the debris that came off of our roof and they took care with the outdoor furniture to make sure it was out of the way (or cleaned). They repaired the shakes that needed it and then came back and stained, the roof looks new. The bidding process and all communication was quick and easy. I would definitely recommend these guys and would use them again not only for a roof project; but, I would also use them if we had a deck project in the future.

It looks wonderful. The price was a little high, but I wanted to make sure they'd protect all my planting. They were super careful. They made sure the stain didn't get on my outside surfaces so that my dog didn't step into it. The quality was excellent. They were super efficient. They came out to give me an estimate almost immediately. The professionalism was outstanding.
