This company did ice dam removal for us. We were (pleasantly) surprised when we called on New Year's Day and the phone was answered. They were able to schedule us within two days and called to confirm, both the day before and right before the workman arrived. The person who did the removal was very professional -- professionally dressed, drove a vehicle with the company logo on it and got right to work. This company removes ice dams with steam, so water and electricity must be provided by the homeowner. The work took longer than we expected (4 hours), but as we had never had this done before our expectation may not have been realistic. Our workman did a great job of removing all the ice, front and back. Everything was cleaned up and we appreciated that he salted the walks before leaving. Based upon prices we have seen in other reports, this company does seem to charge the highest rates. I think we may have been charged the "emergency" rate (even though ours wasn't an emergency); perhaps the higher rate moved us up on the waiting list. Overall, the experience was positive. However, we would do a better job of price comparison before hiring this company again. They are rated as an overall "B" because of the price.

I called for removal of an ice dam that was causing a leak into the house. I was given a 36-hour window in which the technician could show up, and was told that he would call when he was "on his way," which meant that I couldn't venture more than about 10 minutes away from my home for the entire 36 hours. And, he showed up during the afternoon of the second day in the 36-hour window. IN addition, the person I spoke to wrote my address down as XXX Ave SOUTH, instead of XXX Ave NORTH, which meant that the technician went to the wrong side of town, adding an hour to my wait time. Once he arrived, the technician was very polite and did what he could to remove the ice dam. However, their equipment proved to be too much for the electrical system in my house (which is normally just fine), and the circuit breaker kept getting tripped. I had to reset it at least 10 times. Finally, the technician had to give up because my houses's electrical system could not run his equipment. He was able to remove most of the ice dam, but I had really hoped for better results. And, I should note that they only charged me for the time he was actually at my house, not any time spent in transit.

We have used this company at least three times before. The service is mixed perhaps because they use subcontractors? In future I will hire roofers who I have now discovered also do this work. Last year this company did an excellent job, but the year before that they damaged our gutters (roof and ground) and did not tell me. I discovered it after they left. The same thing happened this year despite the fact that I took time to shovel them out so they could be easily seen (based on the previous experience). Again they damaged gutters on the roof and ground. Also, I had contracted them to remove roof snow, as well as ice dams. They said over the phone they could do this. In the end they only got part of the snow off the roof. I learned later then this is not a good thing as it creates ice dams farther up the roof. He did not tell me this. He did a good job removing ice dams. This company charges more than others so is more likely to be available. They use a steamer which I gather is safer for the roof than some other methods, but you need a water source. They removed many thick ice dams to their credit. In the past it has cost much less (less than one-third of this year). I do not fault them for the hefty price this year because of the special circumstances, but I will not use them again because I have discovered other better options and because I am tired of fixing the gutters.

The price I was quoted was $300 per hour (Ironically the owner of the business was quoted in the newspaper the morning of my work as saying the rate was $290 per hour!). After the gentleman was done with his work he told me it would be $315 per hour! He also indicated that he was adding about 20 minutes for set up and take down time. I asked him if he remembered what time he started. He honestly said, "I have no idea." I told him when I thought he started. He agreed with that. The result was three hours and 20 minutes at $315. per hour. Fortunately he did not request payment on the spot. The following work day I went to Roof To Deck's offices and spoke to the manager and explained what I was quoted, the fact the worker did not know for sure when he started and that he took 20 minutes to fix the nozzle on his hose. He agreed to charge me the quoted price of $300 and did not charge me for the 20 minutes. Overall that was satisfactory but I was not happy with the differing quotes for the work.
Description of Work: We had ice dams removed. The gentleman removed about half the snow on the roof with a snow rake and used a steam/water jet to carve up the ice in the gutters and remove the ice. He came out on a Sunday. It took about three hours.

We had water come through our kitchen ceiling on Christmas Eve and called Roof to Deck on the 26th for service . Service appointment was scheduled for either Thursday or Friday because they had so many calls. Quoted price of $350/hour. SErvice provider arrived at 11:30 and left a little after 4:30 as the ice dams were very solid on a very steep roof. He steamed the ice off the gutter and created gully's on the roof to make sure the water flowed there rather than into our ceiling in the future.. there is still some ice on the roof but not in the gutters.... Since it was a rather warm day we were planning on having the snow racked and the front of the house done but these had partly melted and the back took a very long time because the ice dams were huge so we decided not to. The only complaint is that we got charged to the penny including time spent caculating the bill and a little time talking to another individual who had arrived to provide an estimate to repair our ceiling... this wasn't surprising as it was consistent with other reviews. The service provider was very professional and nice.. hopefully his actions will eliminate any future issues with ice this winter....

I have serious ice dams this year, bad enough that there were icicles coming through the soffit vents. I called or emailed several service providers. This company and also another one both quoted me about $300 an hour (Roof-to-deck is actually $315). And both said that they couldn't estimate the time on the phone but that average jobs have been 2 to 3 hours. This seems to be the going rate, although some are higher. I had to stay home or close to home for the whole day because they could not tell me even what part of the day to expect someone, but I am able to work at home so that was more or less OK. I gave up a gym workout. When the worker arrived, he expressed shock at the amount of ice dams and said he didn't think he'd have time to even do the back of the house completely. He said it would take 10 hours to do the whole roof. I don't have that kind of money. So he worked for a little less than 3 hours and removed the ice dam from about 1/6 of the roof. The ice was thick. And I assume the equipment was expensive, but for $300 an hour I was expecting more results. I thought maybe there would be a team of 3 or 4 and that was why it's so expensive. I know it's cold and icy out there, but the price just feels like gouging. At least water is able to drain off at least part of the roof now. But I'm praying for enough rain to wash the rest away before it snows again.

Overall, they did the work they were hired to do, with a few hiccups. Would I hire this company again...No.
Description of Work: Woke up Sunday morning to water dripping in through front door frame. Called and they weren't able to come out until Monday morning (not a big surprise - no other company even answered the phone on Sunday). They showed up on time and did clear roof of ice dams, but their hose leaked on the back side of the house causing water to enter the basement (luckily my husband caught this pretty quickly) and they also took one of our good snow shovels and left their crappy shovel behind (we didn't discover this until a few days later). Price was comparable to other companies, but why so expensive??? We didn't have much choice in the matter though.

They did a good job removing the snow and clearing the ice dam. Their estimate matched the final bill. They cleaned up nicely. They came when they said they would and performed the job even though I was not able to be present. I'd definitely call them again (and probably will soon due to all the snow we've been having).

I was desperate. Water leaking thru the kitchen soffits and the sheet rock was probably ready to fall, so, I could not effectively search for other alternatives. They showed up within 1.5 hrs after phone call after I agreed to pay for expedited/emergency service. Went very well. He worked diligently and got the job done. My only complaint is two-fold: 1) he had some sort of equipment problem and I had to pay for that time while he fixed it [they billed me right down to the minute 4hrs & 5 min], and 2) In addition, when I paid by a Visa card they had no means to give me a receipt. I had to write the billed total on a piece of scratch paper. Come on. This is 2010 and they should have the simple means of giving me a written receipt, yet alone a visa receipt. Kind of a rookie outfit from the billing standpoint.

the deck washing went well last year. The ice dam removal went well last winter. I completely trust that the ice d*** prevention they are installing now will go well too. I also trust that if i have a problem they will come and fix it. The only down side is that with the steam process the ground and steps got icy and it took a bit to clear them off. But it was not thick ice and they left salt on the surfaces before they left. I'm not sure if there is a way to prevent that. Perhaps putting down a cloth or something? Minor inconvenience that doesn't last long.
Description of Work: RTD are installing heat tape on my roof now to deal with the ice d*** problems we have. They are removing the snow and ice that accumulated with this weekend's snowfall and then applying the electrical lines where those ice damns were accumulating. They use our water and their equipment (I am glad they added this service of preventing them.) I have also used RTD to wash our decking. I will call them again for whatever they offer that I need. they show up on time. they call with a reminder that they are coming. The workers are cautious and they work hard! No wasting time. They have a big job to do and they get the right people out to do it.

This company has exceptional customer service. They are prompt and courteous with appointment scheduling, provide pre-appointment materials that include stain color selections, information on the refinishing process, and after care. Their work was excellent and they took care not to get any stain on either our light colored siding, or the white rods in the railing. They even left a small bottle of touch-up stain. I will definitely use them again!

Roof-to-Deck came promptly, squeezing me into their busy schedule after a freeze-thaw cycle which had affected many homes. They worked efficiently on a ladder using a pressure washing device to clear the roof, and also cleared the gutter. They advised about ways to prevent the problem in the future (keeping clear gutters and possibly installing heat tape down valley and along edge of roof) and were professional and courteous. The work took just over one hour.

Due to the weather the project was later than scheduled. Deck must dry between cleaning and staining. After cleaning and drying the stain crew came to do the job and would not proceed because they didi not think it was clean enough. The deck was then recleaned (with stronger chemicals) at their initiative and cost and then stained when dry. Great appearance and final result. The only reason they did not receive an "A" is that the first cleaner left the job only half cleaned. The stainer "caught it" and took the initiative to correct the situation,. I would use them again.

They arrived in a timely manner and completed the work in about five hours. The worker told me a price that was less then I thought he would ask for. But I assumed the longer they worked the less the hourly wage was. I paid and then two weeks later I received a bill asking for an additional $200. I called and was told that either he has misspoke or I misheard. They said that they had noticed the mistake that day but no one called me to explain. Just sent the bill. They took $50 off the bill which I felt was too little but I paid the $150 and will not work with them again.

As the member mentioned above, we showed up on time and did quality work. We quoted the member an hourly rate when the work was booked and scheduled. When our technician finished the job, he calculated the total job price incorrectly. We contacted the member to correct the billing mistake and lowered the price by $50.00. The member said he was an Angie's List customer and said that if we did not go with the incorrect price he would write a poor review on Angie's List. We would rather do the right thing and get a poor review than be threatened and receive a poor review.

It's an outstanding company. They are really good. We just got back from vacation and noticed an ice dam that had come over the roof in the front and created icicles in front of our front door and damage in the back of the house that came through the ceiling. I didn't know that the company did ice dam removal. They came out right away and they remembered me. We love them. They are charging us on an hourly basis, but I don't know how much it's going to cost us. It may end up costing about $600.00. I didn't even know about the ice dam in the back. I noticed it just this morning. I called them yesterday and they came out today. The guy has been in business for 28 years. Last year they sanded off the entire old surface and re-did the whole floor of our deck. They also instructed me how to do the railings. That was really nice and it saved us money as well. They were expensive but in the scheme of things, I think it was good value. I would call them in the future if we needed to, and I would recommend them.

I called the company and told them about the ice dam. The woman who answered the phone told me (without me having to ask) what the charges were( $240 per hour/2 hr. minimum) and that they used steam. I agreed and they came out the next morning. They did an excellent job, steaming the whole dam and to the end of the house. Nearing the end of 2 hours, they asked if they had done everything I wanted done and finished up.

The best thing about the experience was that I never had to be home for them to give me the quote or do the work. I requested a quote, which they quickly provided. When I requested that the work was to be done they scheduled it immediately and provided clear, easy instructions on what I needed to do next. The work was completed exactly as scheduled and promised. We were very happy with the quality of the staining and sealing. They were extremely clean with no visible mess or overspray. Obviously, since we just had the work done we do not know about how the staining will wear over time. They made the appropriate number of follow-up calls and were courteous.
