Renewal By Andersen

Our first visit from Andersen was on July 22, 2010. The salesman made intial measurements and gave us a price for the windows and door. Soon after, another representative came out and measured the openings to finalize the price. Around August 15, we received a call saying that there was an error, and the $9900 price we were quoted was going to be greater due to the casement windows previously quoted not fitting into the opening. After some discussions about the price, we agreed to the increase. In early November, the windows and door arrived and were installed. This was significantly later than the eight weeks promised due to some problem with the order of the door. The crews (subcontractors for lead paint abatement and window installation) were very curteous and explained the installation process well. The windows are super efficient and attractive - a garbage truck went by the morning afterward and we couldn't hear it! Much better than the Marvin Tilt Packs we installed several years ago. There were about half a dozen punchlist items, which were completed in the next several weeks. The door that was installed was scratched and cracked and it appeared that something had been set on it to make it crack. So another door was ordered, and finally installed in January - nearly six months after we made the order. We went with Andersen since they are more than Joe with a pickup truck, and were willing to pay the premium price. Everyone we dealt with there was pleasant and tried to be helpful. We still had a lot of micromanaging to do with their various crews, and had to deal with miscommunication when the materials were ordered, and that was a disappointment. Sometimes dealing with the various parties at Andersen was a struggle. Also keep in mind that Andersen will not honor Angie's List coupons if you order more than five windows, since they already give you a "discount" for ordering five or more windows.

Sales associate and installers were very professional. We like the style and quality of product. First winter seems fine so far.

I would have them back and I am very happy with their work. We had our kitchen window done prior to that and we've been doing something every year for the past few years. We had a two double hung window, a large bay window, the sliding glass door, and the awning window all replaced. Their customer service is exceptional. The quality of the product and quality of the installation stands out. If you feel like their is a problem they will come out, look at it, and take care of it.

Overall it went very well and these were not minor installations. All I can say is my wife and I are patting ourselves on back for having gone with Renewal. Our initial attempts to go with a big box store and a "Joe and his pickup" did not go well. Home Depot couldn't figure out which kit to order for a dbl storm door set up and I gave up after spending weeks and getting passed to a 3rd person to attempt to complete the order. Menards quality just wasn't there to begin with and I worked with someone from Lamperts and got estimates on Marvin products but Lamperts showrooms closed their doors right in the middle of the bid process. So, we were all ears when our Renewal salesman - Russ Miller, who had come to give an estimate on the windows told us that Renewal carried quality door systems that he could recommend personally since he recently had a new one installed on his house . Once we saw the door and glass combinations, our months of anxiety and frustration changed to excitement. Renewal sent out a technician who actually drilled into the existing door casing to get the exact depth of the frame and jam, and from there it was pretty much full steam ahead. This is because we had been told by 2 other companies that Thermatru doors wouldn't fit, yet they never verified this officially. Yet, Renewal did make sure that they would fit. This provided a lot of assurance to us that they had the integrity to make sure they would work and didn't just want the sale. The entry door system did end up taking several visits (which was frustrating initially) to get right, but when you live in minnesota and the temps are changing, doesn't matter if it's or new construction. Things are going to shift and change they did. Renewal never questioned my repeat calls, and I would prefer a company that stands behind their product and service and gets it right, rather than one that undercut all others but won't take my call after the sale. This was my biggest fear. I knew we would need follow up service regardless of who we went with. Some examples of their dilligence are: They voluntarily replaced a couple window mouldings that were not perfect at time of install, a window scrrn, they came several times on the door adjustments, and then they even replaced a custom window ledge that they had made on site for our kitchen. The original did not accept the stain well and turned out awful when I stained it. They sent out their stain crew and actually stained that window for me at no charge. I was blown away. Again, this was a lot of money for my wife and I to spend on our 1964 rambler in this economy. But, we are both sleeping well at night knowing we went with a company that has been around a long time and we expect will be in the future. Not to mention how customer service oriented they are. This was our 2nd investment with Renewal and we will not hesitate to use them again to complete the remaining window replacements in the future. So, to Donna in scheduling and Dick with the stain crew and all the other folks whose names I don't catch, thank you all! Summary: Highly recommended products, service, and customer service.

Fine. The rep showed up on time and was very professional.

They came when they said they would. They did what they said they would. They cleaned up afterward. They did it in less than two days. A lot of the latches snapped off and they sent me a whole bag of replacements for free.

They are very reliable and they follow thru. I would recommend them to family and friends.

The salesman from the Roseville store was great, informative, not pushy, very helpful. He showed up on time and was very responsive to our phone calls. We had a large living room window consisting of four casements and a stationary picture window, replaced with two large gliding windows. The job was done when it was very cold out but they only had it open a short time. All the trim work, insulating, replacement went great. They did a wonderful job and were very meticulous about keeping the floor clean and cleaning up after wards. I would definitely use them again. We love the window and the job was great.

Wonderful...From sales to staining each individual was professional, helpful, and pleasant to work with. They always cleaned up after each procedure. Since I'm handicapped that was a big plus.

The experience was very positive and I would recommend them. I did a lot of comparison shopping, fully expecting to get price quotes from other providers that were significantly less than Renewal. I bought a casement window from Renewal a year ago and loved the quality and the look of the window, so I know that they sell a quality product. And I know from that experience that they are very friendly, professional and prompt (not even a minute late!). So price was the question. I shopped and shopped, got quote and quote, and was surprised that many of the lesser quality windows were more expensive than Renewal. The entire experience, from the sales call through the installation was seamless. Everyone was very professional, and the windows are beautiful!

We had a satisfactory, but not an outstanding experience with them. When they came out to measure the windows, they measured them incorrectly. They made assumptions of what was and what wasn?t part of the window. So, when the first batch of windows came, they didn?t fit. They had a really nice installer, though. We were impressed by his abilities and his attention to customer service. He was fabulous. The salesperson wasn?t so great. The company assured us that our problem would be dealt with on high priority, but it took time for the replacements to arrive. So, we had to use temporary windows for two months, until they came out with the final windows. Our opinion would have been different if it were for the salesperson and the person who came out to take the measurements. However, their price was reasonable and competitive and the installer was very good. In the end, we were satisfied. We will probably use them again in the future.

I thought they were great. The salesman was super and spent a lot of time getting us the information we needed. The door and windows that we ordered were installed on schedule and we didn?t have any issues. They had to replace the wood underneath the door and they didn?t charge us for that. The company was easy to use. Whenever finances allow, I have many more windows to change and I?ll be using this company. We looked at a bunch of companies and they came out ahead as far as value for price.

While Andersen windows cost a few bucks more that we wanted to spend we are both pretty happy with them. We could only afford to do half of the windows now and the other half hopefully this year. We took advantage of their 90 day financing where if you pay in full within 90 days you don't have to pay the accrued interest. We were both pretty sure we wanted to go with Andersen from the beginning, but we looked into Marvin and Pella as well. We only met with 1 rep, Andy Woessner. He is very professional and answered all of our questions without any pressure to buy whatsoever. He printed out a quote to replace all of the windows but said there was no pressure and that we could have however many installed our budget would allow, even if it was just one. We decided to go with the most expensive ones first, which also were the ones in dire need of replacing. We had the windows installed a few weeks before Christmas. The contractors were professional and very personable. Their work was very neat. The project took all of one day and most of the next. Upon installation, they saw a small crack on the frame which would have been invisible to me since the decorative trim would have covered it up. As a result they ordered a whole new window. When the new window was in after the holidays, they called me and set up an appointment to have it installed the following week. This crew was also very courteous and professional. The work took 3-4 hours. I had them replace a screen which I saw a minor defect in and also look at a slight icing problem I had in the gliders. They installed an additional piece of insulation inside the widow frame near the bottom of the track and that seems to have to taken care of the problem. I'm very happy with my overall experience. You pay more, but the service is top notch and that is in part what you are paying for.

One of their salesmen came out and gave us a quote on two doors. He was very professional and understanding to our desires. The bottom line is that their quote was the highest of the three quotes for the exact door. He said they could not reuse the existing storm doors, the other two companies assured us they could and would. We wanted the door frames wrapped at the factory (at an extra charge), He said it would be better if they wrapped them in the field, the others agreed the factory wrap would be better and included it in their final price. The decision not to use them was based on total cost and what was included and what was not included in the door package.

Fine. I really like my salesperson, Kelly Klein, as she is flexible (she came to my house on a Saturday), thorough (she always asks lots of questions about what I want), and prompt (phone calls are returned quickly). I highly recommend her. The installers came on time, explained what they were going to do, and things went mostly as planned. The installers thought that my city's inspection department was going to do the inspection that same day, but no one showed. Seeing how I have had problems with my city's inspectors before (on a totally different job), I am fairly confident that the schedule mix up was their fault. The inspection did get done the next week, and the work done by the installers was great! I am very happy with my new window (and so are my bird-watching sunbathing cats!)

This is our second time in a few years working with Renewal by Andersen (we are replacing the windows in our 100 year old house a few at a time). Every contact I have had with Renewal has been a positive one. The sales representative, Chad Winter, is great at his job; courteous, informative, not in any way pushy. I had some service issues with a few windows that were replaced by the previous homeowner almost ten years ago, and they sent someone out right away to take care of the issues. Everyone that worked at our house was courteous and did a great job! When people hear we worked with Andersen, the first thing that comes up is usually price (after that, it's always quality). It's true, the price we paid to Renewal by Andersen was more than any of the other bids we received, and it was ENTIRELY worth it! We still have several more windows to replace and would not think of working with anyone but Renewal by Andersen!

It worked out well. We are waiting for them to come and put the windows in, so the job is not completed yet. It takes 10-12 weeks for the windows to come. I think it was a fair price.

They were competitively priced, but they did the job quickly, cleanly and efficiently.

The temp was about -10 when the work started. The guys laid down tarps so they wouldn't mar the floor coming in the house. They planned their work and prepped the window space before removing a window. This meant the window opening was open for a limited amount of time. The temp in the house didn't fall that much while they did the work. They did a great job cleaning up both inside and out - even with all the snow on the ground I had used Renewal by Andersen on 2 prior occasions, replacing other windows in my house. This installation completed the replacement process. If I had more windows to replace, I would certianly use them again.

(01/08/2010) I had a very good experience with them. UPDATE (06/03/2010) Overall, the service was excellent.

The salesman was very clear and helpful during the selection process and applied all discounts. He also gave us a general time line for both the measuring and installation. The crew, headed by Mike, was fantastic. He arrived at 8am, half hour prior to the crew and laid drop cloths. The whole job was done by 2:30pm including the clean up. They hauled away the old windows and storms and the windows looked fantastic....just like the old ones only insulated properly. They arranged for the city inspector and got all the permits. I plan to have them replace other windows.

Anderson personnel acknowledge a manufacturing defect with wood veneer windows, but not until after you are dissatisfied and the windows are installed. Wood veneer is laminated onto the Andersen window - which is made of a plastic like material they call Fibrex. With wood laminate windows the Fibrex extrudes through the mitered corners - essentially a gap between the wood where white plastic shows. The sales staff and installers also acknowledge that if the customer doesn't complain they make no effort to "fix". Additionally, a second manufacturing defect exists; the finishers also freely acknowledge that with oak veneer windows there is a problem with the grain raising. While this is hardly noticeable from a distance, the fact that they do not tell you this unless you complain speaks to the company's integrity and ethics. I was thoroughly disgusted with what I consider to be "bait and switch" tactics. I viewed their windows at both the Minneapolis home show and at the Burnsville showroom and of course the windows they have on display are perfect. Very unethical and complete disregard for delivering a quality product and being upfront with the customer. The one non-veneer window I had installed in my garage is perfect, but who knows what else this company chooses to hide about their product. Window installers were excellent and finishers were top notch too.

Our experience with Renewal by Andersen went better than we ever could imagine. Their salesman Andy Woessner was knowledgable, polite, and low-pressure. They had several payment options which allowed us to pick one that worked for us. The people who came out to measure the job were professional. The installers arrived on time and completed the job with no problems, at least none that we were aware of. They were very considerate of my wife who is blind. When I came home from work, the area was so clean that you could not even tell any work had been done except for the three beautiful doors in place of the old unit. Their stainer (Wall Trends, Inc.) made an appointment to complete his work on August 11 but called on July 30 and finished the work that day. He did a nice job of matching the trim closely to our existing trim. He was also friendly and considerate to my wife.

From our first contact with the Edina showroom, the estimate and care from Justin Hennessey, the measurement visit, the installation of all pieces in a day and a half, excellent staining of window trim, to two visits from service to correct slight imperfections in a screen, a door lock which was the wrong color, and the final visit to replace two wood piece imperfections, Andersen Renewal has been an incredible company to work with. The windows are beautiful. Justin helped make some suggestions that added to the look of the windows that improved how they were from the originals. So far I am impressed with how they insulate for noise and heat. I can't wait to see what happens to my heating bill. On the exterior they match the existing trim color and you would never know that we replaced them. We have not needed to do any repainting. All the crews were wonderful. You would never know they have been in your house when they leave. Clean-up is incredible.
