+ 0 moreOutstanding Job! It was a "turn key" Project; i.e. not only were all windows and doors physically replaced, but I opted to have Anderson do the staining of new window woodwork. Stain color was a perfect match to existing interior doors and wall base molding. Technicians were very careful to protect/not damage large furniture items, which could not be moved. It was a multi-day Project and at the end of each day, all debris was removed such that you would not even know Anderson had been here. I would definitely recommend using Anderson Renewal.

+ -1 moreThe initial meeting with the salesman was understandable and thorough. The window installers were efficient, and they cleaned up after themselves. Also on the job, they were willing to take time to explain things we had questions about. We replaced all our windows in two sessions over three years. We liked our installers so well the first time that we requested and were able to schedule the same crew back for the second session. The company also sent follow-up personnel to be sure that everything was done correctly, and that we were satisfied with the job.
Description of Work: They replaced all but one of the windows in our 30+ year old house.

No more ice on inside of glass. Workmanship and products excellent. All my windows were replaced by Anderson about 9 years ago. Love them. These guys are great to work with. Highly recommend.

+ -1 moreWe did obtain quotes from another large window company and went with Andersen because they took care of the whole process from beginning to end. The pricing between the two companies was comparable. We like that Andersen installs the windows from the inside of the house. They took care of everything including the staining of the replacement windows. The work was done in a timely and very "neat" manner. We appreciated the whole process enough to place an order for the other half of the windows in the house for this upcoming June.

+ 0 moreJoe made several house calls to show us the various options and to make changes as we changed our minds about the various details. He was very helpful, happy to be there, and obviously cared we got what we wanted! On install day #1, two installers spent the day installing three windows on the second floor. It took a lot longer than anticipated due to the poor condition of my old window openings. Two of the sills were rotted out and the smaller hexagon window had to be installed in a difficult location overhanging a 12/12 pitched roof. The temperature was hovering around 0F and it was snowing. I was amazed to see them up on the snow covered roof installing the thing. I hope they're paid well!!! On day #2 they installed the two entrance doors. Unfortunately, there was a mixup in manufacturing and the factory made the incorrect doors. They installed them anyways and a month later after the factory made the replacements, another installer came out and quickly swapped the wrong doors for the correct doors. During the initial install I was able to see how well they crafted the jams and framing when the weather was as bad as it was and how well they insulated the empty spaces around and under the doors. From the initial sales calls, to the installation, to the followup and giving us a small discount due to the door mixup we were very happy the end product, their attention to detail, and their overall customer service! We will be using Andersen to replace the rest of our windows later this year!

+ -1 moreFrom the initial purchase to installation, the entire process was stress free and the workmanship was outstanding. The installers went out of their way to insure the installation process was as non-disruptive as possible. We had half of our windows replaced with Anderson windows by The Home Depot a couple years ago, and the quality and final installation is MUCH more superior from Renewal by Anderson. Bottom line, you get what you pay for!

+ 0 moreSo, 10 months after this all started 6+ months after the install and final monies from me....Andersond, product is s***, it terms of the final delivered product. I will again, need to storm into the retail location in Roseville.....demand...what the h*** is happening....and just maybe find they will (though I doubt it) get me the a sliding screen door that isn't dented all over the place. this much I can say...it's getting close to 1 year since I started something with Andersen through Angie's list. Andersen has not delivererd. and frankly I find this with Angies list...the people I've hired....and I've researched their ratings, have been CRAP. I will never again, go to anyone off of Angies list....best that I've purchased....and I've rad all the revues is "average" quality and service..so shame on Angies list..in my opinion...they are making money, but their reviews...same as Craig's list...Now Anderson...highly overrated...riding on their perceived image....customer service...b*******. totally unhappy. I know this product wise, lots of equal quality, Marvin, Pella...Anderson, they are riding in their reputation...greatly disappointed..Andersen is not what they used to be. Angies list...I sill not subscribe again. Now....back to nagging at the retail Andersens....how sad....it was about 1 picture window and a patio door....should it be this difficult...now a 9 month process? not again.
Description of Work: bought deal in about may/june...got "estimater" in July, early august 20 Estimater, easy schedule...though guy who did estimate...put on a pressurese to "sign" because he was going on vacation. I did delay until he got back from vacation. (first...uncomfortable feeling) then gave him 1/2 of moneies prior to 8/1/2013...couldn't get anyone in to install until first week in November...though I was told...when I went in shop in Roseville, could be earlier, scheduler would call me "john" never happened so I did do another in house contact (geez...John never got around to calling me until after I had this second confrontation at their retail location?L so scheduled visited was now another 2 weeks later...I am now into Novermber. Guys came to install all went well...they took my money for the total bill then told me, there was damage to the outer sliding screen door, and needed to be replace..(they now have all the money for the total job.)...OK things can happen. I also informed them that a window they installed, picture window qualification, had a great bit hand print predominent in the middle of the glass...2-1/2 stories up. Anderson said they'd take care of when they replace the outer sliding screen door. End of January came, Anderson called to say they'd put in the new sliding screen door...(general temps 20 degrees below zero)...they came out with the new door....no where close to a fit...height, over 8 inches too tall. They told me it would need to be reordered. Here I am, nearly the 1st of August...still the horrible bad paw print on the picture window, 2+ stories up, still a badly dented sliding screen door; no word from Anderson.

+ -1 moreGreat experience. We have used Renewal in the past, and would again. Chad our salesperson was very punctual and accurate, let us know what to expect in the process. Schedulers that called us were polite and detailed, letting us know who would show up and when. Installers Seth and Keith were punctual, cleaned up nicely, did an excellent job on the install and trimming. Aaron the stainer did a great job on matching color, stain and poly. We love our new maintenance free windows, it makes the house feel new!
Description of Work: install 10 replacement windows, remove and haul away old, containment of lead in old paint, caulk outside, trim with new wood frames inside and stain.

+ -1 moreWe had an excellent experience. The sales man was friendly and knowledgeable. We live in a large townhome complex with rules about what we can put in. The salesman knew what we needed and the color that we needed to be in compliance. He suggested a couple of options that were allowed, gave us more light and saved us money. We did have to wait several weeks since the windows are all custom made but they gave us a date a month ahead and were here on the day promised. Communication was good, letting us know what we needed to do to make installation easier. The two fellows who came were friendly and efficient. The only thing that was somewhat inconvenient was that the fellow who does the staining couldn't come for a week after the installation. That meant that all window treatments had to stay down until he came. But he was a very nice man who did a great job so in the end we are completely pleased. We knew that Renewal was going to be more expensive than some companies but we wanted the job done right the first time. It was worth it.

+ 0 moreThe windows were ordered in November and installed in January (during a huge cold snap).? The sales team did a good job to set expectations up front in terms of timing of the installation.? The job lasted 5 days - 3 1/2 days window installation and an extra day and a half to finish the interior staining.? The crews worked hard and were very considerate in keeping the area clean and asking permission to leave some of the equipment overnight for efficiency.? I telecommute, and they worked around my schedule for the most convenient time to install and stain the windows in my office.? There was a glitch with one of the windows installed on the first day - there was a crack in the outside trim, and the crew noticed that and had a new one brought in from the factory the next day. The windows themselves are beautiful, and very easy to work. In terms of price, we took advantage of sale coupons, plus there was a volume discount.? We were very happy with the experience and would not hesitate to recommend Renewal by Anderson to others.

And the difference in comfort throughout the house is amazing. It is warmer and the temp is consistent. No cold spots. Love them. My only complaint is that they are so busy it was ten weeks from the time of our order until installation finally began.

The windows and patio door are high quality and well sealed against infiltration. These windows are better quality than the brand we had installed on the second level of our house last year. That brand is the other popular replacement window brand, for which we have some infiltration and whistling noise issues.

+ -1 moreThe first time I called Renewal by Anderson I was told to call Anderson's service department. It was suggested that they might be able to replace just the glass and not the entire window. I called the service folks and was told that they don't do that, that they never have. I called Renewal by Anderson back to schedule am appointment. I got the stall treatment. I was told that replacing just one window would be "really, really" expensive. When I asked if they were interested in doing the work I got a "well, uhhh". It wasn't a no, but it wasn't a yes either. I called these guys because they were listed on Angies. Now I wonder why they are listed here.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate to replace a window who's glass had been broken in a hail storm.

+ -1 moreFirst the salesman measured, and then he said there would be someone else coming out to measure again..better safe than sorry. Unfortunately when the windows arrived they were the wrong size. How could that happen? The measure guy thought the windows in the front of the house would be the same as at the back of the house. WRONG. Isn't that why you were going to measure? Ok, so wait for new windows of correct size. Great. Now where's the stain? Oh, you didn't order stain...but oh yes I did. Salesman and helper came back in order to get my window frames stained. OK.. unfortunate problems, but like the windows. However, when I rehung my drapes and blinds...they all lost 2". They didn't tell me that part. And we didn't think to order handles on the windows..guess we didn't think about it. They are sliders and it's pretty tough to get hold of the edge of the frame wtih your fingertips to open and close. I requested a review sheet, for over a year. No one seemed to know how to get one to me. No wonder they have a high satisfation rating- they don't give dissatisfied customers a chance to weigh in.

+ -1 moreRenewal has a great product and great warrantee. However, their price was the higher than competitors even with the same materials. The biggest problem was the contract that Renewal requires customers to sign. I read the contract - and I believe that cirrcumstances could arise that would require the enforcement of the contract terms - and therefore I could not sign it. Renewal asked for me to agree to terms that favored them in revery respect and under any cirrcumstance. I was poised to hire Renewa untill I was sent the construction contract. I asked that several terms that I could not agree to be deleted. I discussed the contract with my sales person. He clearly had no ability to change the boiler plate. I selected different to install renewal windows at a marinally lower price. Thier construction contract did not contain onerous terms and I was happy to sign their contract with one addition, a date certain for installation. Hopefully, Renewal will have their legal staff remove unnecessay terms and conditions and thereby retain more potential customers.

+ -1 moreGreat. Don did a fine job. UPDATE: Installation was good. On time. This review follows an earlier one which I submitted before the cold weather arrived. Now that the temperatures have dropped I noticed each window has gaps and they leak in copious cold air.. Upon investigating I could see right through a corner joint to the outside on a couple windows. All of them leak in cold air. All the seams leak. I have had to use as much rope caulk to deal them as I did with the old windows they replaced. I spent $900 per window for absolutely no improvement over my 50 year old windows. I would never recommend the windows to anyone.
