For about a month my phone service had deteriorated with excessive noise on the line to the extent that I could not hear a caller. Noting that Qwest charges you if they determine the issue is inside the house wiring, my spouse, an electrician, tapped into the line at the entrance to the house to verify that the problem was outside the house wiring. I scheduled Qwest for a 2 ? 4pm visit, but the technician arrived at noon as I was leaving the house for an appointment. I should have had him come back, but instead I showed him what we had done to verify that it was a Qwest issue. He agreed and I left for my appointment. When I returned I found that the issue had not been fixed. Given this and previous customer service issues, I contacted another provider who quickly had my phones up and running. The other provider was able to use the existing internal lines as is and concluded that the problem was outside of my house, as I had previously surmised. They fixed the problem outside the house. To my surprise I received a bill from Qwest to pay for the ?lack of? service call. I documented my concerns on Dec 3 in a letter to Qwest, which was ignored. On Dec 28 having received no response, I sent the same letter via email to Qwest and received a request on 12/29 to call customer service. When I called, I needed to explain the whole story again and was informed that they had determined that the charge was legitimate; however the customer service person had no details on what the service tech had done to merit this charge. I was passed to the service dept and spoke with Fred, to whom I had to again explain everything and who pretty much repeated what the CSR had told me. He couldn?t do anything about the charge ? ?someone? had evaluated my case and determined they had charged me appropriately. I asked for a manager and spoke with Josh (story repeated again ? don?t they take notes??) who indicated that the company had to pay for its trucks and personnel and so had to charge for any service call even if the tech doesn?t fix the problem. I asked why another company could come in and determine that the inside lines were fine and use them resulting in perfect clarity. He felt they must have fixed something (they didn?t) and complained that since I didn?t call them back and allow them to come back out and fix the problem (at additional cost to me), there was nothing they could do. I had been a loyal customer for more than 30 years, so I expected a more customer centric approach. In the end, Josh offered to reduce the charges in half, so that I only have to pay $42.50 for a no service call. Wow ? what a deal! I recommend that anyone considering Qwest should look elsewhere. I should have switched months ago. My phone service with Qwest was never as clear as it is today.
Description of Work: Bad phone line with excessive noise. Qwest did not fix but charged for a service call. We had tested the inside lines at the junction box prior to calling, so we know it was an outside issue. Subsequent service provider confirmed. Qwest refused to reverse charges but eventually reduced them in half. Low level of customer service all the way around as documented below.

Every time, we had to change our phone service. They don t have an inexpensive low-level service, but their phone lines are relatively clear. They are very expensive for something that we basically use, so we have an emergency power out phone. Their billing practice is horrible. A friend of ours moved out of an old house 6 years ago, and he just got a bill. Somehow the phone was in his name, but they never noticed it hadn t been paid for 6 years. Their customer service is horrible, and if I could go with anyone else I would.

This is an all right service. I don't have long distance or anything, just the most basic plan. I don't deal with this company very often. Once they raised my bill so I called them and they added a service without asking me. I told them to take it back off. It made me upset because I don't want them to change things without notifying me. When you call in for help you can't talk to a person, you just go through tons of menus. That really puts me off as a customer. When I call it's because I want to talk to a person. My time is as valuable as theirs. The menu options didn't even match what I needed them to do. As a company I don't prefer them because of their service but their phone line is satisfactory.

I have caller ID and I can teleconference also. My experience with them has been fine. The service is what it has always been, nothing more and nothing less. The phone charges might be a little high, but the internet is very low, so combined it s a fair price. The internet speed is a little slow for my work though.

The customer service is good. The repair work is questionable. We were not happy with the repair work. The price is just a little higher the we would like. The time that they say will be there makes it a little inconvenient for us.
