Requested information on a water softener for my 80+ yr old home. Harry responded to my email request immediately and we talked on the phone to determine when he could come and assess my home. Harry arrived on time and tested my water, listened to my concerns and made a recommendation. There was no pressure whatsoever. He was clear what the water softener would do and what it wouldn't do. I decided to go forward with the purchase and we decided on a price and installation date/time. Harry arrived on time and completed the work in a couple hours, left the work area as he found it. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Harry Runge was very responsive, both to evaluate the water quality at our home, as well as proceeding forward?after discussing options?to install both a whole-house water-softening system and a reverse-osmosis drinking water system for use in our kitchen. Harry performed the installation and some additional pre-softened water re-route plumbing (for outdoor spigot use) in quick order. Harry allowed me to ask many questions; was patient of my questioning and observation while at work; and was expert in his replies, and his work. We now enjoy all the benefits of his labor and knowledge, at very reasonable cost. We opted for his branded ?Advanced Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment System,? which features a large storage tank for treated water and which dispenses water much faster than other R.O. systems we have used in the past. Regeneration occurs quite rapidly and servicing of the three-filter system is required only annually. We use this water for drinking, coffee-making, the making of ice cubes, and for ionizing humidifier use. Our ice cubes are now clear and release easily from their trays, and our humidifier remains free of precipitates. The water softener system is compact?it had to be located in our laundry room along only one wall?and its electronic controls are easy to use. We have 21-grain hardness (Burnsville municipal water), with regeneration occurring only every 1,200 gallons, which saves on salt cost. Our water quality is immensely better now. We are fortunate that our kitchen is located directly above the laundry room, as Harry installed the R.O. system below the kitchen, including placement of the treated water storage tank between ceiling floor joists: we retain all storage space in the cabinet area directly below the kitchen sink. In addition, and upon his suggestion, Harry installed the R.O. water dispensing fixture a distance to the right on our stainless-steel sink (drilling a new hole) in order to preserve the original four-hole arrangement for other uses. The new spigot placement enables us to set our coffee pot or drinking glasses, etc., on the countertop for easier dispensing of treated water. Harry called us to ask about our experience with the systems some days later and to address any concerns we might have had. We had none. Harry also tracks the R.O. system filter replacement (and infrequent membrane replacement) schedules and will provide these services, too. We highly recommend Harry! Thank You!

Our water softener hadn't been working properly for over a month. I found Puretap and Harry Runge's listing on Angie's List and decided to contact him. I called and left a message on a Sunday afternoon assuming I would then get a call back come Monday or so. Harry called me Sunday evening! We discussed the problems and possible solutions. I thanked him for the information and told him I needed to talk it over with my wife. Harry told me he was going to be up for a while and said feel free to call back with any questions. About a half hour later I called Harry back and we made arrangements for him to install a new softener. He said he had time on the up coming Tuesday or Thursday. We went with Thursday at 11:00. On Thursday at about 10:40 Harry called and said he was a little ahead of schedule and asked if it was ok to come over, which he did. Harry removed and and installed the new softener including some pluming changes that had to be made, gave me instructions on using the new one, then hauled away the old softener. I am very happy with my experience using Harry and Puretap!

Harry came in to give me an estimate, as well as test the hardness of my water. He inspected the plumbing in the house and determined the best location to install the equipment and clearly explained why there was some plumbing work necessary with the installation as well as how that would be done. He explained the size of the water softener I would need and why, and did not suggest any extra equipment or work during our conversation. When I asked about a whole home water filter (reverse osmosis system) he clearly explained the process, cost and work needed if I chose to add one. The installation went smothly. He arrived on time, was careful when carrying equipment through the house to the basement and did not waste time on the job. The plumbing work he did was well done, clean and professional. When he was done he took the time to show me how to properly work and maintain the system, answering all the question I had with clear, easy to understand answers. I can't say enough about the professionalism and quality of the work done and Harry himself. I will happily refer him to anyone looking for water softener installations.

We had Harry come out the week prior to give us an estimate and determine if any extra work would need to be done on our house to install a whole house water filter. Our utility room, particularly near the main water line, is rather crowded. He came out and laid out some of our options, including an estimate of how much extra work would be needed for plumbing modifications. We had some other companies come out and take a look as well, but Harry was the most complete with his answers and provided us with the most options for our money. On the actual day of the installation, Harry was on-time and patient with my questions during the installation. Usual installation is 1.5 - 2 hours. Ours took closer to 3 hours due to the extra plumbing that was involved. He walked me through the basics of the unit once it was installed and what to do if something went wrong with it. Over the course of the first week of having the filter, we have noticed improvement in our water quality. An excellent experience all around!

My husband and I recently purchased a home, and we wanted to make sure that we were correctly maintaining our sediment filter and reverse osmosis system. I had already ordered all of the new filters and we needed someone to replace the old filters with the new. We called PureTap and I was able to schedule him for the next day. He did a great job. I was definitely glad that I called him to change all of the filters because it was more complicated than I had expected. He had quoted me $150 over the phone, and I appreciated that he also checked that our 20 year old water softener was functioning properly for no charge. I will definitely call him back next year to for our yearly RO system checkup!

Our water softener was leaking so I called Harry to come check it out. We determined a new softener was better than fixing our very old softener. We also got a quote on a reverse osmosis system since we have a well. Harry gave us a quote which we thought was fair but we wanted to get another quote anyway to compare prices. We called another company and they quoted us almost exactly double what Harry quoted us. Harry was professional, punctual, likable and not pushy or sales-y. We are very happy with our new set up and the work that Harry did. Stop looking and call Harry!

Harry arrived on time and removed the old softener and water filter. He then installed the new units with no problems. He was friendly and competent at his job. Afterwards, he showed us how the units worked and offered some great tips on performance and maintenance. He cleaned up the work area and hauled away our old units. Very friendly, very competent, highly recommended!

I am very pleased with the water softner system Harry installed. I needed a system in place that would deal with the demands of my water quality. I have well water so the water is quite hard and contains some iron. Before the time of my install Harry came out to test the water free of charge. He quoted me a price on a softner and pre filter that was at least $ 250 cheaper than the next closest bid. There was no charge for the labor install. He arrived on time the day of the appointment and the work was top notch. Harry gave me an overview of the system when the work was completed and showed me the programming particulars of the softner. He told me to call if I had any questions in tthe future The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. What sets him apart is his courteous nature and genuine concern for the customer and their satisfaction with the product.

I first spoke to Harry on the phone and he asked some questions and then told me what kind of softener I needed for my new home. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me on a more expensive model. I had just had another company out for a quote and I felt they were way too salesy. Harry was the opposite. He was able to come 2 days later, was on time, clearly knew what he was doing. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing a water softener. Great guy, great service.

Our drinking water system was no longer working Harry came out and determined it could not be repaired (it was 22 years old) so not really suprising. He gave us an estimate for a new system and offered to apply the cost of the service call to the new system. We did not end up buying Harry's system but were very pleased with his services

Harry was great - I really appreciated that he made time to come out and take a look not knowing if he would even get the business. In addition, he was on-time every time, did a great job of removing and cleaning the space for the new softener AND hooked it right up! Harry also took the time to explain how the softener works, what to look for in the maintenance of the system and was generally a pretty darn good guy! Thanks very much!!
Description of Work: I've been in my home for two years; recently it appeared as though the water softener wasn't working. I called Harry to ask if he would come out and a - determine if it was working or not and b - suggest next steps. Harry took a look and determined it was not working and explained my options to me. I agreed to purhcase a softner from him and within a week it was up and running!

Harry was prompt in returning my voicemail, and scheduled an appointment to come out the next day. When he arrived, he spent over an hour investigating the water quality, softness, plumbing layout, etc. Turns out our home, originally built in 1938, with several additions, had a unique layout and the existing softener was only plumbed to the cold water line in part of the home, while the fixtures in the master bath were not hooked in to the softener at all. In addition, our chlorine levels were 3X the normal level. Harry recommended a smaller softening unit than the one we had been renting, as well as a whole-house water filtration system. We decided to go with the new softener as well as the water filtration, and I couldn't be happier. No more watering eyes or burning skin!! Harry was professional, prompt and extremely helpful. He knows his business. I was so impressed at the amount of time he spent investigating our problem, without knowing whether we would do business with him as a result.
Description of Work: I cannot recommend Harry highly enough! After moving in to a home that had no softening system, I contacted a well-known national water softener company to install a system. While their service was prompt, within a month I was convinced that the water was not being softened adequately. Their service technician came to the home 3 times over a one-year period to check on the system, and assured me each time that all was working. After a year with no soft water, irritated skin and watering eyes, I contacted Pure Tap.

Fantastic experience. Harry's service and price are unbeatable and the product is excellent. He even did the little things like removing his shoes on our new carpet. I was also impressed with his follow-up phone call a week later to make sure the softener was working well. Again, can't speak highly enough of the experience from beginning to end.
Description of Work: We moved into a new home with an old water softener. The house is in the country with well water and we were concerned that the water would be too hard for our new appliances. Harry went out and tested the water for free, collected other info from us about our family size and typical water consumption, and quoted us a price for a new softener. His price was much more reasonable than the "household name" companies in the same business. The price he quoted me was exactly the price I paid at the end of the job. The product he used was top notch and is working great. Pure Tap would be the only company I would use again for the same type of service.

Harry was on time when he came to our home to do the water test and when he came to install the water softener. He was very respectful of our home (removed his shoes, even in the basement) and left the area very clean after the job was done. Since this was our first experience with a water softener he answered all of our questions and said we could call if we had any questions in the future. He didn't pressure us into buying additional products. There were no hidden costs - we were charged the price he quoted. Harry was friendly and did a great job. We would recommend him to others.

I got bids from several companies for a water softener. Harry gave me a fair quote and clearly knew his product from experience, rather than as a salesrep. He came exactly when he said he would. He was polite, explained in detail what he had done and how to operate the softener, and left the area much cleaner than he found it. I would definitely use him again and refer my friends to him.

Harry did a great job. He arrived just as scheduled after replacing my parent's old worn out water softener. He took away the old beast and installed the new unit. He was very respectful of our home--shoes off, and of us. The installation looks great! I have more available space in the laundry room and no more bungee cords holding drain tubes to the laundry tub. Everything neat and tidy! We had some water flow trouble when the water was turned back on and Harry worked with my husband to resolve that. As he states, he is fussy about the job being done right and it certainly was. We're very happy.

I researched water softener companies on Angie's List and Harry and his co. came up first. I read all the reviews and decided to call him to get info and an estimate. He came out and walked through the process...product, plumbing and options. My first impressions of Harry were great! He is professional, nice and very honest. I decided that evening after his visit to use his product/services. In less than a week I have a new RO system. He made the process very easy, efficient and now I am enjoying great drinking water. We are looking to upgrade our water softener in the future and I am sure to call Harry.

Harry is the owner and installer for Puretap water softeners. Harry asked questions about our water usage when I called. From that conversation, he determined we needed a small water softener. He came on the appointed day and was quick and efficient. He took our old system out and get it upstairs and out the front door with no mess. He installed our new water softener and explained all the details of usage to us. The price includes the $25 coupon discount mentioned on his Angie's List page. Harry is so nice and a pleasure to deal with.

Harry, I apologize for the late entry :-( I had an old water softener that wasn't working - I had added salt and it was not being consumed. I saw a broken plastic tube, which I suspected was part of the problem. I reviewed Angie's list and decided to call Harry Runge, the principal of Puretap. I explained the situation and he asked some questions, including about the age of the system (It was in the house when I moved in about 20 years ago). Based on this, he suggested replacing is the best option and quoted a price. The price was comparable to the prices I had seen for other water softeners, so I agreed and made an appointment. Harry arrived on the day of the appointment and went to work. He prepared the stairs to the basement, to make clean up easier. Unfortunately, the old softener had too much heavy, wet salt to carry it out, so Harry had to cut it up to get to the salt. He carried the salt out in buckets and then had to carry out the pieces of the old softener. He installed the new unit and set it up. Then, he instructed me on what needed to be done to keep the softener in running shape, what kind of salt to use and how to keep the salt level up. He hauled away the pieces of the old softener for disposal. he offered to haul away the salt, but I had another use for the old salt, so I declined. The area was left as when he arrived, with the exception of a NEW WATER SOFTENER!!!! Harry was easy to work with and, if others ask, I would recommend him.

My 2004-installed water softener system in my new construction townhome had begun to leak all over my utility room this autumn 2011. The builder's sales representative sold the Water Softening System and an R. O. System to me for installation by their subcontractor, Water Doctors. Water Doctor's personnel never contacted me about either system until their initial installation of the R. O. System failed. Water Doctors proceeded to do damage to my brand new home through their various "fixes" to their failed installation of my R.O. System, which I ask them to remove, to refund my money and to compensate me for the damage done to my kitchen hardwood flooring and my brand new KitchenAid refrigerator, all of which Water Doctors refused. I'm not surprised the water softener system they sold me was of poor quality and has also failed. After the water softener began to leak, I contacted Water Group, the manufacturer of the water softener, to collect on the 10-year warranty on the defective water softener. Water Group told me unless Water Doctors did the work, the warranty was void. I tried to explain to Water Group due to the damage already done by Water Doctors to my home I refused to allow Water Doctors to ever enter my home again, but Water Group didn't care. I was forced to accept that my warranty would not be honored by Water Group. At this point, I turned to Angie's List to review the "A" rated companies that installed water softeners. I found Puretap Water Systems, LLC to be what exactly what I was looking for: - a reputable licensed, bonded and insured company - providing an easy-to-understand, straight-forward explanation of water softener systems - at a competitive all-inclusive price with the caveat of no hidden charges (which actually makes the price slightly less than their competitors) - with a personable, customer-friendly and very knowledgeable expert who answers the phone or calls you back shortly, if you must leave a message (no middlemen, indefinite holds, or marketers selling other products or services) Puretap, owned by Harry Runge, was able to fit me into the schedule the next week. As described above, everything went perfect with the removal of my old system, the installation of my new system, the education I was provided on the system, the expected price for the system and the work involved, and the assurance of support for the system being only a phone call away. My new metered water softener system definitely uses less salt than my old system, which was not metered. An added bonus is the shut-off valves are easy to find because they are red and easy to reach. They also are easy to turn, if I must shut this system off for any reason. My old system required a contortionist to reach the shut-off valve and turn it. In addition, it was not easy to recognize which plumbing valve belonged to the water softener system. It looked like all the other plumbing valves.
Description of Work: Puretap Water Systems, LLC, a licensed, bonded and insured company owned by Harry Runge, provided a priceless positive experience in the area of water softeners for me. Harry enjoyed educating me on water softeners and showed complete respect for my home, me (and even my dog.) After explaining the different types and sizes of water softeners, so I could narrow my choices, Harry quoted a set price (with no hidden charges added during installation) for two sizes of the new metered water softener system I was considering. Both quotes were all-inclusive. Each quote included removal and disposal of my old system, any plumbing changes required, his time and labor, and the price of the system (the equipment). He informed me that he would provide one bag of coarse solar salt and I would be required to supply the remaining salt. I stress once again, there were absolutely no hidden charges! This was unlike other companies I called only to find if you didn't ask all the right questions additional charges would mount up when the installation of the system actually took place. (For example, the extra charge of $100-$150 to dispose of your old water softener system.) Harry called me 10-15 minutes before he arrived slightly early for his appointment to install my new system. I should also mention upon his arrival at my front door, without being asked, he removed his shoes before he walked through my home which has light-colored carpeting, only to learn that my water softener was in my heated underground garage. He was able to back his truck into my garage, which made the loading and unloading of equipment and tools very easy. Harry looked at my old system to see if it could be fixed. He explained and demonstrated to me exactly what had failed on the Water Doctor’s system. It could not be fixed due to the poor quality of the system equipment which was cracked all around its neck and was leaking water all over my utility room. (I had shut off the water to the system when the leak started.) Harry removed and disposed of the defective 7-year-old unmetered cracked Water Group manufactured water softener which had a 10-year warranty (which I was unable to collect on) that was installed in 2004 by Water Doctors, the builder's subcontractor. Next, Harry installed a metered Puretap water softener with a lifetime guarantee on the softener unit and 5-year warranty on the rest of the system. He tested the system and then explained it to me. This included how to change the settings, what type of salt to use, how much salt to keep in the system, where the instructions for the system were located, how to shut off the water to the system and how he could be reached whenever I had questions. He left me business cards both in my utility room and upstairs on my main floor for my files. He left the work area as clean as when it was when he arrived. I found Harry to be extremely knowledgeable in his field. He explained the water softener system in easy-to-understand detail and told me to call anytime I had any questions. I was never made to feel stupid, no matter what question I asked. I find this to be the true meaning of excellent customer service. Never once did Harry try to snow me with technical jargon. Harry is a regular guy and I mean this in the most complimentary way. He is the polar opposite of the self-serving "I'm-the-expert-how-dare-you-question-me" attitude used by many insecure service providers who refuse to use everyday language often in hopes of intimidating customers into purchasing equipment and services they do not require. Harry was honest and straight-forward with me regarding my needs in terms of a water softener. I happily and whole-heartedly recommend Puretap (Harry Runge) to any Twin Cities Angie’s List subscriber. Harry is pleasant, easy to work with and has a genuine interest in his customers. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a quality water softener installed by a reputable company that stands behind its work and respects you and your home.

I had been using the Culligan tank replacement softener for sometime, and was not happy with it at all. Where I live, the hardness is 23, so you could hurt someone with the water if you hit them hard enough with it. I researched the reviews on Angie's List, and was impressed with all the positive reviews that Harry had received. I looked over his site and called him Tuesday (2 days ago). He discussed my home size and habits with me and gave me a quote on a softener with a 1.25 Clack head (I didn't know the head style at the time, but found out later). I asked Harry when he could do the install and he suggested today at 11AM. At 11AM exactly Harry was in my driveway, ready to begin. It took him 2 hours, start to finish, and he answered all my questions along the way. At one point I had to laugh. He is so careful to make sure every pipe is plumb and level that they are probably the best looking pipes in my entire house. He cleaned up entirely after himself, secured the pipes so they don't rattle, gave me a complete tour of the new softener and charged me exactly what was quoted on the phone. As he was plumbing to the softener, he did it right, taking out more pipe than absolutely necessary so that the installation looked clean and proper. I would absolutely recommend Harry and Puretap to anyone needing a new softener.
Description of Work: Purchased a new water softener and had it installed.

We hired Harry based on his other Angies list ratings. He did a great job and we would very much recommend him to anyone. We were most impressed with his quality of service and attention to detail. When i first spoke to Harry, he provided good information regarding costs and expectations over the phone and was very responsive - he had an opening the next day and i had a water softener installed within a day of when I first spoke to him. The installation went smoothly, and Harry was also careful with the carpet and left our utility room cleaner than when he arrived. His prices were quite reasonable as well, especially since Harry had to do some extra work based on how our plumbing was set up.
Description of Work: Harry installed a water softener and ran a line to keep soft water from going outside
