It went very well. We purchased the discounted landscape plan via an Angie's list deal and then decided to hire them for the entire job given the complexity. We're interested in eventually doing a much larger project in our backyard and will for sure consider them for it.

He was very professional, seemed experienced. We didn't ultimately move forward with the project (the actual installation of the landscaping) due to other budget priorities, but will keep him in mind for landscaping when we do. His prices for materials and labor seemed very reasonable and fair.

He was timely, informative and knowledgeable.

It went fine. He answered our questions the second time he came out.

This was my first time using them and it was fine. They were no other charges beyond the big deal.

It went extremely well. Brian was there everyday with his crew. He followed up each day with me to see if I had questions and or comments. Brian was consistent and followed through with everything he initially indicated would take place. He as well as his crew were respectful and extremely hard workers. I liked the relationship he had with his crew, commending them. Brian has an enthusiasm for his work and it shows in the finished product.

Brian was wonderful to work with. He listened to our ideas about what kind of landscaping we wanted and educated us about alternatives and what would or would not work in our yard. He completed the designs promptly, visited with us and made adjustments that we requested. On the day work was to begin, he arrived early to accomodate our schedules and completed the job on schedule. He only works on one project at a time, so we were confident we had his full undivided attention. When the work was done, he sat down with us and laid out a plan to maintain the new plantings. We were going to be out of town for several days and he volunteered to come water the new plantings while we were gone. One plant appeared to be drying out and he rep;aced it. Brian is an enthusiastic, reliable, knowledgeable professional and we will certainly use him again.

My experience overall went excellently. The staff was very professional and professional. They were also very personable, knowledgeable and punctual. I could not have asked for better service. I would highly recommend this company.

Came out and met with me, looked at my yard, measured and then within hooked up his laptop and within an hour, had a landscape design plan printed out complete with tree, bush and flower varieties labeled. I plan to do the actual work myself so I was just looking for plan ideas. The whole process was professional and very time efficient and simple.

There were no problems. The workers were knowledgeable and hard working. I especially liked that Brian incorporated existing plants with the new. He split hostas and day lilies from an overgrown garden in the back .

Way overpriced and we would have to do some of the work. Also, though I sent him my dimensions ahead of time he sat in my house for an hour putting together the estimate.

It was okay. I like the fact that he seemed to be quite knowledgeable and seemed to have a lot of ideas to throw out which was very helpful to me.

Brian was friendly and professional. He gave us ideas for the area, sketched the plan, and suggested plants for the location - shady area with large exposed tree roots. Brian also spent some time with me answering questions about other shrubs we already have. He and the crew arrived on time on the scheduled day. Brian went over the site with the crew, headed by Dan. Brian had to leave but was available at all times by cell phone. The crew immediately got to work with the sod cutter and shovels. They worked carefully around the many tree roots, keeping any damage to the tree at a minimum. The boulders, soil, mulch, and plants were delivered on time. The crew was friendly and very efficient. After removing the sod, they leveled the area with fresh soil and cut the two sides for the edging. Dan worked hard placing the boulders so they looked good, fit among the large roots, and made a nice edging overlooking our patio. Dan also made adjustments to our in-ground sprinkler system for the new planting area. The crew divided and moved an existing peony plant to include in the area. They installed several shrubs and new perennial plants and watered them. They then carefully moved many loads of mulch by wheelbarrow into the area, taking care not to damage any of the plants. They were meticulous at cleaning up the work area, raking any scattered mulch and dirt. They also did an excellent job of cleaning the street where the mulch, dirt, and boulders had been dumped. All of this in one day's time. Brian returned the next day to check out the work. He spent time with us explaining what we will need to do going forward to maintain the plants, i.e., watering, fertilizing. Brian shared his knowledge with us re other plants/trees we have in our yard. We enjoyed working with Brian, Dan, and the crew and would highly recommend them.

Our home is built on a small hill and water from the snow melt in spring runs down into our home's foundation. We decided to have two ponds built to trap the water, and were eager to have Brian come out and help us with a design layout for our existing landscape. In addition, we wanted a design around what are to be the ponds, as they have not been built. Just to give you an idea, our lot size is approximately 3/4 of an acre so there's a good amount of landscape. The previous home owners greatly neglected their outdoor space, so we're in need expert advice. We called Brian to set up the appointment. He showed up promptly and we took a walk around the property as I explained what our vision is. At the back of the property we have a challenge due to a major pipeline running through it. We can't plant trees or obstruct view from the air. During our walk I got a little concerned because of what I perceived to be a difficult task due to size of our lot. I didn't know whether Angie's Special would cover the time to create the design; I expressed my concern to Brian, but he reassured me that it was covered. Also, during our conversation I learned that they don't do ponds. I want to emphasize that the ponds are not the focal structures in our landscape, but rather one part of an overall goal. At the beginning of the consultation, Brian asked for one of our land surveys which was okay with me as long as it wasn't destroyed. It was folded multiple times which I think it was really unnecessary; it was used to start the design layout. From previous experience, we know that plots can be obtained on-line. The design layout was started after our walk through. I didn't really think to track time, but I would guess that it took approximately an hour from beginning to end. To make the review short, Brian was kind to print the design for us on the spot. He made a commitment to send me the image via e-mail right away so that we could have a electronic copy, but we never received it, nor did he follow up with us. That evening we sat down looking over the design, and we feel what we received was poor work. Note that we are not landscape developers or have any formal training, but we are nature enthusiasts, we have done our research and we know what we want to accomplish with our landscape. The document that Brian provided was not professionally completed. The design really has no concept in our honest opinion. And if we were to compare it to other landscapes, it would be a cookie cutter design. We feel that the time invested in creating the document was drawing in the standing objects, such as trees. We expected to receive fresh ideas to help us achieve a beautiful and exciting landscape. Instead, we received a document with lines that can't be implemented due to the aforementioned pipeline. To be fair, we did mentioned that we would be doing much of the work ourselves. We have hired someone to help install the ponds. And large part of the disappointment, we feel that Brian neglected to capture us as potential clients.

So far so good...easy to talk with...has great ideas...was here when he said he would be here.

Went well. Have worked with Environmental Design in the past which is why we had no hesitation to re-engage when Angie's List Big Deal came out. Brian is very professional. We are not an easy customer as in the are of landscaping we usually have only general ideas of what we want. Brian is very good at listening to those general ideas and turning them into smething tangible and doable. We look forward to finishing our project with Brian and his team.

Brian met with us at the house we are building. He was VERY knowledgeable about Minnesota plants and what would grow here. Important since we are moving from Colorado. His set of questions established what style and type of plants we wanted and how to set up the slope on our walk-out basement. He included hardscape for the patio, deck, water features and saving trees on the lot already. Next update after design is done.

The plan was executed exactly as laid out. The workers were great, the communication excellent and the end result is beautiful. Working with this company was a very positive experience.

I would be happy to hire him in the future and would recommend him to anyone not because of the free service but because he is knowleable, professional and friendly. This is why I like Angie's list. You get the good people and the good people get the job.

Very professional and polite. Received a design that had all of the plants I had asked for included. He seemed very knowledgeable at knowing where plants should be planted (sunlight, watering) and how to arrange them so that they could block out anything we did not want to see from our property.

Bryan called within a few hours after I purchased the 3 hour consultation to set up the appointment, he arrived promptly and was very receptive to our ideas and help put our fuzzy vision into a tangible plan.

The previous owners of our house had filled the front yard with so many levels of sand and rock that it made planting impossible. I had estimates from four different companies, but I went with Brian because he was extremely friendly, punctual, and I could tell he really cared about the quality of the work done. During this time a recent wind storm had severely damaged our roof and we were concerned about putting in landscaping without gutters. The roofers pushed the dates back several months, but Brian was patiently checking in with us every few weeks to make sure we could get it in this year. This means a lot that he was following up because we had already paid him at this point, so I think that says a lot about the company and their work ethic. Since we were incurring so much extra cost from the roof issue Brian also helped us scale down the project a bit and offered us cost-saving methods which was really helpful. When time came to do the work his team was on time and ready to go. They were careful not to harm our existing grass and were all very professional. When it was all said and done Brian came out a second time to go over maintenance. The only reason I give them a B on price was because I requested an itemized bill so I could see where the costs went and although it was provided... it was really just a general bill, I couldn't see the prices of plants and installation so this was a mystery for me. I do feel like I got a good value, but I am one of those people who likes to see the budget to the penny and I felt like that just didn't work out in this case. I also received quotes for less from other companies, but lets be honest here I don't think the quality would have been nearly as high and you get what you pay for and it is worth it for a job well done. In the end I would go with this Environmental Design again and again because it is worth it to know you are getting taken care of and the work is of high quality. I should also mention Brian was kind enough to do a sketch for our back yard to help us budget for next year's project. I really appreciate that he went out of his way to do this so we could more easily budget our future plans. Great guy! Great company!

Brian was very good at helping us come up with not only a design that worked but one that was within our budget. I was very impressed with his concern that the patio not interfere with the health of a nearby tree. He came by and checked on the progress each day. His crew worked very hard and did a top notch job with making sure everything was lined up level. I would definitely do business with them again!
