It went great. Brian and the crew were very professional.

Brian from the beginning to the end was very easy to engage. E-mails were returned promptly, even on weekends. There was a lot of coordination with our plan (electrical, concrete and irrigation that we handled ourselves) before the work could begin on the actual landscape redesign. When asked, Brian would work directly with the irrigation team to ensure that the installation of the drip lines within the beds were coordinated when it came time to plant. Brian met us early in the morning (our request) and his team worked through probably the hottest stretch of this summer. Despite the heat and tough conditions (hard clay soil - required a pick ax at times!) his team did a great job at installing our plan. They were very careful to minimize damage (had to travel between our house and neighbors) and they even took the time to water our lawn since our irrigation system was turned off during the project. Like most projects, you discover the need to make some changes along the way. These changes never threw Brian or his team for a loop. It was helpful that one of us was able to work from home a few days which helped keep the project moving along as questions could be answered. The project pretty much was done in five days - including the installation of the drip line. Brian's team did a great job in cleaning the last day. They worked themselves out of the backyard cleaning up as they went - putting down dirt to repair a few spots along the edges of the beds, sweeping up the patio, picking up all the fallen leaves where the plant materials were stored waiting to be planted. Brian was very detailed in his explanation of watering schedule, fertilizing, preparing for winter and pruning. I would highly recommend Brian and his team. He was a pleasure to work with and I'm very pleased with our new backyard. It's great to come home each day and wander through the beds seeing what has bloomed during the day.

The entire process was hassle free and very easy. Brian called back on the same day and we had a consulting session to go over my ideas and needs. Within one week we met again to review a design plan. Brian's design was perfect and matched exactly the requirements I had laid out. The price was broken into easily separable portions in case I wanted to break up the work. Work began the next week and took about 4 days total. The entire process was flawless and I am looking forward to doing my back yard in the spring. My yard now looks updated and fresh and I can't wait until spring to see how the new plants come in. My neighbors have all commented on what a great change this is and what new look my house has.

Arrived when they said they would (after having to cancel the previous week because of so much rain). Cost was exactly as estimated. They did alot of work in 1 1/2 days and all looks great.

We wanted to do something about an area losing its grass because of a shade tree. Bryan came out to help us plan a design and give us an estimate. A couple of weeks later his team of four men came to put it in, and it is gorgeous. We liked Bryan and his team very much. Our back yard is transformed.

After our house burned down, we re-built on the same site, and need new landscaping to enhance and fit the house we had just built. Brian met with us several times and designed a landscape plan that used our his ideas and our visions. What we got was a great plan that's really very simple but well thought out, and fits our needs beautifully. He knew that our budget was limited, and designed accordingly. We had an idea. They listened attentively and involved us in plan. They were punctual, profession and within the budget that we were looking for. There were no surprises and we found them extremely pleasant to work with.

I met probably six different contractors and he was the most prompt and professional. He had really great ratings and he really seemed to want to do it. We wanted him to help us with the erosion problem. He even suggested another contractor to do some work on our side yard because he said that they would do it a little bit faster and cheaper than he could. He was very honest and was willing to work with us on a payment plan.

We are very pleased with our job from start to finish and the end result looks great. I found the company by reading the reviews on Angie's List and got a quote from Brian, in addition to obtaining some other quotes. Brian listened to what we wanted and came up with a design that would add some visual interest and have plants blooming at various times of the year, while keeping within our budget. Brian suggested adding some "flower gardens" in mulch cut into our existing river rock areas. We are very pleased with how that came out. After the initial quote and before the install, Brian came out and went through pictures of the proposed plants and we decided on what we wanted and where it would go. The work was delayed a little by the recent rains, but Brian kept us informed of our install date. On the scheduled date the crew showed up right on time and they finished the job by the end of the day. Brian went over all plant care instructions with me once the job was completed. The crew was careful not to damage our grass and did a complete clean up when the work was done. I would not hesitate to recommend this firm to anyone else.

Environmental Design was the highest bidder, but I went with Bryan for a number of reasons. Bryan was responsive and replied promptly when I had questions about the estimate. He listened to all my concerns and suggested alternatives for my consideration. He made me feel like I was his #1 priority and his primary goal was to make me happy. Bryan kept me infomed every inch of the way. He explained the process that would be followed. For example, he let me know that he would call the utilities 2 days before work commenced so that the gas and water lines would be marked. Bryan walked through the entire job with the foreman and me multiple times. He came by every morning and followed up in the evening to see how things went and if I had any concerns. He also spent significant time with me laying out the plants to insure everything met my expectations. After the work was completed, Bryan walked me through a set of written instructions on next steps (what I needed to do and when to insure everything flourished) Environmental Design provided items not included in the bid at no extra cost. For example, 2 additional boulders were provided to "finish off" a bed. In addition, some areas of the yard were seeded that weren't included in the original bid. I was impressed with the crew doing the installation. They arrived on time, behaved in a professional manner and treated me in a couteous manner. I am very happy with the job that was done. My yard looks absolutely beautiful! It brings a smile to my face everytime I look at it.

Brian from Environmental Design came out and listened to my ideas about the look I was trying for with the new landscaping. I didn't know much about the plants I wanted but I was specific about the size, height and overall look I wanted. Brian did a good job listening, asking questions and suggesting plants that would accent our existing deck, house and yard and supplying suggestions on colorful foliage that would last throughout the season. Brian's estimate was considerably less and his scope was close to my vision versus the other company we asked to give an estimate for the same job. They were able to start the job quickly and completed it as soon as possible even through some extremely wet and rainy weather conditions over a multiple day time frame. The work crew was polite and hard working and also asked good questions throughout the job. We needed drainage improvements around the perimeter of the house due to settling issues and burrowing animals and they did a nice job adding dirt and filling problem areas. I was particularly impressed with how they cleaned up at the end of each day including attempting to remove clumps of mud generated by the demo work and the wet conditions from surrounding lawn and concrete areas. At the end of the project when we gave final payment, Brian spent time with me answering many questions about the care and maintenance of the plants and landscaping and had a care plan prepared that he went over with me specific to the plants we had used. The completed project is exactly what I envisioned and is proving easy to care for and low maintenance and much admired by my neighbors.

ED gave responded within a day or two of my call to give us a bid and set up a meeting for a bid. Shortly before the agreed-upon time, Brian called to ask if we could reschedule and explained why. This was no problem, and I appreciated the notice and the request. Once we did meet, he listened to what we required, made a few measurements, and drew up a plan on the spot. We did a bit more looking, but ultimately decided to go with ED because of their professionalism. Once I called back to tell them we wanted to work with them, Brian came out again to talk over plant and mulch choices, answer questions, and get a down payment. He told us we were on the schedule for shortly after 4th of July weekend. Ultimately he called to ask if he could move us up about a week, which was great for us. Brian showed up right on the nose with a 4 man crew, with which he worked the whole time. Also, he checked with us once the plants were in to see if all was as we had expected and desired, which it was. They finished the job within about 4 hours, and he took extra time to give us a precise maintenance schedule and instructions. The area looks great and ED was a pleasure to work with.

However, when comparing competitive quotes, his was 50% higher than another highly recommended Angie's List contractor. We simply could not justify that large a price difference. I gave Brian a chance to re-look at his quote, but I never heard from him again.
