Description of Work: Ward replaced all of the windows in my house with new energy efficient windows. In order to pay for this, I applied for a government sponsored loan which took several months to complete and secure. Throughout the entire process, Ward and Cindy were helpful and patient. When the windows arrived, they were installed quickly and professionally, with no drama.

Description of Work: He came to my house, installed a screen door in front, fixed two toilets and got my garage door opener to work. He did this all in 2 1/2 hours! Amazing and the work was very high quality! I will definitely be hiring again in the future. Great work, great price.

All three were done in a timely manner with much attention to what/how I wanted things (height, centeredness, etc.) My only criticism was that my side door only opens about 75 degrees now instead of 80. But it works now and is secure. That door has always been a bother; I was expecting a miracle. I am satisfied, but he should have charged me more.
Description of Work: Did three things: 1) installed table-top in garage. 2) attached wooden steps to brick veneer deck. 3) fixed side screen door.

Description of Work: Unfortunately,the door from the mud room to the garage did not open as the lock was jammed.I called Saturday morning hoping to get help and Ward was extremely helpful and was able to come within two to three hours, which for a Saturday was great. He was able to work through the complexity of the door and the lock, and was very kind to go above and beyond to ensure that the lock worked. He was very helpful, professional and friendly. He saved the day, since I had no other way to get to the garage to the car.

+ -1 moreOur home is built on a steep hill, so the garage is on the top level and you must descend a flight of interior concrete steps to get to the back door. We had procrastinated for years about installing a hand rail but finally decided to do it--in December in Minnesota. Ward Schwie arrived promptly first to discuss the project and give us an estimate and then to do the project. He purchased the materials and set about installing the railing as described by my husband, an architect. The railing was more complicated than most because of my husband's design, but Ward took it in stride and worked quickly and efficiently. The end result is attractive. He remained good-humored throughout the process, even though his hands were freezing. We will definitely hire him again!
Description of Work: Ward installed a hand rail from our garage down a full flight of concrete steps to our back door. The price included the cost of the materials.

+ -1 moreFabulous! The French doors were not a stock size so accurate measuring was required for the special order. Ward's measurements ensured the doors fit like a glove. He also picked up the necessary materials for trim, caulk, etc. Re: the bathroom - when we removed wallpaper we discovered that the walls were in terrible condition. Ward did an exemplary job of making them smooth & his sheetrocking was so well done you cannot tell that a repair was done in that area. Installation of the light fixtures, vanity & sink were professionally done. He is a perfectionist who believes in providing quality work at a fair price. Ward exemplifies what we all look for in a 'handy man' (i.e., professionalism and integrity). Would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Installed French doors (installation of the doors plus trim, caulk, flashing, etc.) Also used Ward in February of 2009 to do some work in a bathroom (cost of this work was separate and not included in the figure above). In the bathroom he applied several coats of a product to smooth the rough walls (this involved sanding between the coats). He also installed light fixtures, vanity & sink and sheetrocked the hole where we had removed a medicine cabinet.

+ -1 moreStarted on time and since there was a lot of drying time needed all projects were completed over the course of two weeks. Excellent communication, very neat and clean, everything was cleaned up on a daily basis. We did not start out with an exact estimate, and I added a few projects along the way, but he communicated very well about any additional cost or time.
Description of Work: Had a variety of "to do" list items taken care of including: install baseboard trim on one wall, repair water damaged kitchen ceiling, repaint ceiling, repair upstairs ceiling joints (all this included new compound, sanding, painting etc.) remove, clean, repair sill on shower door, install new weatherstripping on two exterior doors, and I may be forgetting something. He did a lot.
