PATES ROOFING

Twice we scheduled an appointment for an estimate to repair a leak in our roof. He never showed up and never called. The first time when I called to find out what happened he was rude on the phone. We never heard back the second time.

They did a great job. The owner came to the house and talked about the options for the roof.

Pates responding quickly to my request for help with a roof leak. He spent about 15 minutes on the job and charged me $175. He told me he had fixed the leak and would return if the roof still leaked. The roof leaked immediately. Despite 2 phone calls to Pates he never returned to fix the problem, as he had promised.

He was prompt, courteous, and professional.

I was very pleased with the work they did. It ended up being only 10 minutes of work for them. The price was fair. I think it could have been less considering the time it took for them to do the work.

Contractor was polite and clear about proposal. Went with another contractor because of his (claimed) expertise in gutters.

Got many estimates and chose Pates based on cost and recommendation from friend. Agreed on contract 11/05, but bad weather forced us to wait until 4/06 to start and complete work. Greg Pates needed to coordinate with another company hired to install replacement skylights. He kept us well informed of scheduling, but workers showed up a day early and I needed to call Greg to have them stop because the materials had not been delivered. There were problems with the tear-off, we'd told Greg that our garden along the foundation was important to protect, but the workers did not use plywood and only laid down tarps after we asked them to be careful. They were careless in shoveling off old shingles & left black scratch marks on the garage siding, picture window, and window frames; Greg later cleaned these marks. A window screen was also ripped in the process and Greg worked to resolve this to our satisfaction. Workers were polite and cleaned up well. Work quality seemed good- no leaks so far.

I contacted Greg and he said he'd drive by and look at my roof. Just under two weeks later I got a quote sheet in the mail. The quote was about 40% higher than another I received for fairly similar specifications so I opted not to choose him. Assuming the price were to change in the future I would work with them, that is why I said I'd use them in the future.

Greg was on time, and seemed sincere in his desire to find out why my roof was leaking and to fix it if at all possible. When my tenants did not show up as they said they would to show us exactly where the water was coming in, Greg climbed up on the roof anyway and addressed all the minor problems he could find. He charged me $75, which I felt was reasonable and the roof has not leaked since. Greg said if the roof did leak after the work he did, the $75 I already paid would be applied toward any future work. Sounds good to me.

They seemed to be very thorough the clean up was excellent. We have an issue with one part of our roof so he put up ice guard further on up on our. Offered great advice. He had really great technical abilities when it came to working around the joints from additions we have made to our home. I would highly recommend him.

They did a very nice job. They worked fast and the roof looks great. Greg is very professional and responsive to phone calls and questions.

I called Mr. Pate in the middle of a rainstorm about a leak around 6 PM on a Tuesday evening. He said he would meet us at our home at 10 AM on Friday morning. We waited until noon. He never showed up. I never followed up because I never would have hired him after that anyway.

I called Pates to identify the cause of some water stains in an upstairs bedroom. Greg returned my call the same day and came out to the house that afternoon. Initially, he thought that the damage was caused by an ice dam since the roof had been reshingled in 2000 and it looked like it was in good shape. However, after a rain storm, I noticed that the ceiling was damp--so it was clearly not caused by an ice dam. I called Greg and asked him to take another look. Upon further inspection, he found that several popping deck boards were to blame and recommended that I nail-down the popping deck boards, install down new plywood decking throughout the dormer, and reshingle the entire area. Since we were in the process of skim-coating the upstairs ceilings, I didn't want to take any chances. The crew completed the work in one day and did a great job cleaning up the site. I was very pleased with the quick turn-around since I had other contractors scheduled to work on our home's interior.

He told me that I needed a stucco person, because that was part of the problem.

The workers were excellent and took great care to protect my gardens. The job was done quickly and the cleanup was excellent. We are very pleased. We were also pleased with the cost.

Called for estimate on roofing job on house. Was told by Greg Pates he could be there tomorrow, which was a Friday, or Monday. He never came out to the house.

Greg Pates came over himself to look at the job. He let us know when he had to change the appointment time and he was very professional. He quickly diagnosed the problem and scheduled the work for the next day. It was completed while I was at work, so I never even saw the crew. The work was done well. There is no more leak and the flashing looks good. The work area was kept clean. The bill arrived promptly and was exactly the amount quoted. Overall, a very good experience.

They were a little slow to respond, but they were very helpful and professional. I will use the services of Pates Roofing in the future and highly recommend them for their honesty and reasonable pricing.

EXCELLENT SERVICE AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

VERY GOOD. WE CALLED ON A SATURDAY AND INDICATED THAT WE'D LIKE THE WORK DONE ASAP. GREG CAME OVER THAT DAY, GAVE ESTIMATE AND SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY. FORECAST SHOWED RAIN ON WEDNESDAY AND GREG RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY! COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

MOST OF THE CLEANUP WAS DONE WELL. THEY DID CRUSH SOME OF OUR GUTTER EXTENSIONS, BUT REPLACED THEM WITHIN A WEEK. THE ONLY THING WE WERE NOT HAPPY WITH WAS THAT THEY DID NOT PROPERLY REPLACE THE GUTTER COVERS. I SUPPOSE WE COULD HAVE ASKED THEM TO COME BACK AND DO IT, BUT WE JUST DID IT OURSELVES.
