He is very pleasant and trustworthy and he will do the work in the most economical way. He did not make any trip charges for the subsequent visits.

This was the second experience with More's Burner Service. I honestly had forgotten about the first meeting and was in an out-of-town desperate situation (my wife was home, but I was at a military training period several hours away, and I usually do the repairs). All that needed to be done is replacing a thermocouple for the pilot, as it wasn't sensing the pilot light so the burners didn't come on. You can find the part online for $45 and locally for $60. After performing the service, he informed me that the part cost $130, and labor was the same! It should've been no more than $130 combined at the very worst for something like this. Three years prior, the gas valve failed and he said it would cost $500+ to replace it since he needed to remove all of the pipes and fittings internal to the furnace since they were in a U shape (which is accurate). He overcharged that part by 25% as well (I suppose that's the nature of the business). However, I learned that there are flanges that can be threaded on the internal pipes and you can just screw them into the gas valve with O-rings between, which makes future replacement much easier. The Honeywell SmartValves are notorious for failing, so this should have been done, and was not. I was definitely taken advantage of with the pricing, and the quality was only to "get it working" and not doing it the right way. I'll never use this contractor again.
