MOLDEX

Moldex performed a mold inspection on our home prior to purchase. We hired them because we were purchasing our first stucco home, and were aware that these homes can have mold issues. At the time of testing, the Moldex inspector indicated to us and to our realtor that there were no significant issues of concern. No follow up report was provided. Based in part on that inspection, we purchased the home. Following our purchase of the home, we discovered extensive mold and water problems. We contacted them to find out why they had not indicated any of the problems at the time of inspection. They responded two months later with a report written after the fact, and refused to refund any part of our money. At one point the owner of the company sent us an email stating that he would refund us for the useless, post-purchase report, but then failed to do so. After a year and a half of remediation, we have resolved our mold and water issues at a cost of $100,000. We decided to walk away from Moldex and leave our money on the table, as it was clear that they were going to continue to avoid refunding our money or taking any responsibility for their shoddy pre-purchase mold inspection of our home. We would NEVER use their services again or recommend them to anyone else.

They were incompetent and some ways made the problem worse. Their people were fine but they just didn?t know what they were doing. They did a poor job.

Although Angie's website says Free Estimates, within first 30 seconds of phone conversation, Moldex said it would be over $100 for an estimate. "He doesn't do anything for free."

They did not complete the job, they never checked behind the drywall, and this was where the mold was in the home. They did not do a thorough job and I had to move out until I can find a company to fix this problem. They have not returned the paperwork, (i.e) warranty for their work, description of work. When they came to do the work they did show up on time and were professional, more professional than the owner.

Michael and his team are caring, experienced people. Michael came out within one day to do an inspection and provided the bid within one week. We chose them based on their experience and the education they provide to consumers. We had a minor problem that was quickly addressed to our satisfaction.

Polite crew, finished project on schedule. Their quote was higher than alternatives, but I hired them anyways given their willingness to get the job done according to my schedule.

BROUGHT IN DEHUMIDIFIERS AND FANS TO DRY THE AREA. SHOWED LITTLE INTEREST IN THE CONCERNS WE'D CALLED ABOUT, AND BEGAN GETTING US SO WORRIED ABOUT OTHER THINGS, THAT WE WERE ABOUT TO LET THEM GO TO WORK IMMEDIATELY--UNTIL WE REALIZED THAT THEY HAD NOT GIVEN US ANY WRITTEN ESTIMATE (OR EVEN A WRITTEN GUESS) ABOUT THE NATURE AND COST OF THEIR PROPOSED WORK, OR ANY WRITTEN INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR COMPANY AND ITS' WAY OF DOING THINGS. WHEN WE TOLD MICHAEL WE WOULD NOT HIRE THEM TO DO FURTHER WORK, HE DEFENDED NOT GIVING US ANY WRITTEN INFORMATION AND CLAIMED THAT NO ONE IN THEIR LINE OF BUSINESS WOULD DO SO. HE DID PROMISE A WRITTEN REPORT ON THEIR ASSESSMENT A FEW WEEKS AGO--WE'RE STILL WAITING.

TALKED A GOOD GAME, GREAT EQUIPMENT, PERFORMED INITIAL INSPECTION ON TIME, AND ASKED FOR FULL PAYMENT UP FRONT. THEY HAD TO BE REMINDED MORE THAN ONCE TO COME BACK TO FINISH THE INSPECTION. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN 3 MONTHS TO ISSUE THE REPORT. WE STILL DON'T HAVE IT. I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT USE MOLDEX AGAIN.
