When I called the first metal recycler and asked if they would take my old wood stove, I was told that they only accept metal(??). I explained the stove used wood as fuel, at which point I was told that I would have to remove all electrical components prior to taking it to them. I called another metal recycler, this one located in St. Paul. Bob answered the phone and as soon as I said I had an old wood stove and verified it was beyond usable life, he said, ''ah, the chimney's shot, isn't it?'' My confidence level went way up. Further, he offered to pick up the stove, as he understood that a solid cast iron wood stove is going to approach the weight of a radiator (several hundred pounds) which is not the sort of thing you toss in the back of the car yourself. The guys showed up the same day they were called and made sure to take everything, even the smaller pieces that had fallen off into the snow.
Description of Work: They picked up a cast iron wood stove and all chimney piping and metal fittings.
