Amazing company! Their prices are reasonable and they were careful of my home. They arrived on time and got finished early. They put down drop cloths to protect my new floor and explained all the switches and filters with the system. They really sized the furnace well as my home is more comfortable just a short time later. Great guys. I would recommend and hire them again.

They were a hour late but installed both units quickly. They were very professional and nice people. I would do business with them again.

When they came into install they did not have permit or know what regulations were for condos. The heat pump did not work right in the summer when installed I had to turn it off completely to make the air conditioning come on. Each time they would come out to fix it they say it was the wrong themostat. That was about 6 times! When winter came there was no heat. Again, saying it was installed correctly ( does it really sound like it was installed correctly?) I was going to be charged to fix the problem on this brand new unit. They did not stand behind their workmanship or the product they installed. I was told "we don't claim to be the experts with heat pumps." which was pretty obvious. They aren't very good with the customer service either.

When the technician arrived to do the tuneup, I asked him about a basement radiator that wasn't working. He offered to check it out, with no word about there being an additional charge for this work. When he left, he indicated that the radiator was working. Turns out it wasn't, so I contacted Metro and asked for someone to come complete the work. A different technician came, who was the person who had installed the boiler. He solved the problem in short order. I was surprised to receive a bill for this service call. I stated my case to Metro, who acknowledged the misunderstanding and removed the charge. I will happily continue my relationship with Metro.

Called Metro the day after Christmas when our furnace stopped working. They came out that day to check on it. They got it running temporarily for us. The next day they came back and put the new part in. Honest and reliable.

This company was recommended to me by my neighbor who she said did an amazing job of getting her octopus furnace out 10 years ago. Apparently she hasn't needed to do any maintenance on a system she said was installed 10 years ago, so at the last minute I decided to get a quote from Metro. Good thing I did, they had the best price and the most honest salesperson. For the same type of system by another company, I was quoted almost double of what Metro quoted, so I really appreciated how affordable these people are. They also didn't try to upsell me on some expensive monthly maintenance plan like another company I had gotten a quote from and just gave me honest answers to my questions. I was working during the time, and had my parents supervise both the duct cleaning and the installation. I have bad allergies so I opted for the duct cleaning before the furnace installation. It took several hours and they did a very thorough job cleaning everything. When my husband and I got home, we noticed the house even smelled cleaner after the duct cleaning. For someone with major allergies to dust, this is a huge plus! The installation went well. Metro sent an older "furnace technician" and a younger assistant to install the furnace. It was scheduled to take 1.5 days but they actually finished it in 1 with a major rainstorm over lunch and having to go back to the warehouse for an switch on the equipment. I appreciated that once they realized the first furnace they brought to the job had a dent in it, they took the time to bring it back and switch it for a new one. Some other companies would've tried to just install the one with a dent and hope no one noticed, so I appreciated that attention to detail. They were very clean and put a tarp down on the floor and even though it was 5:30 p.m. at the end of the day they took the time to explain all the parts of the furnace, how to work the thermostat, and what had been installed where which I really appreciated. When you have a high-efficiency furnace, a hole has to be drilled in the side of your house, and they did a very nice job with that. The only thing that freaked me out a little was that when they were testing the system at the end, there was a lot of smoke (enough to set off the smoke detector over and over again). They told me that this was normal and it was just "burning off the glue on the furnace" but I wasn't so sure. It hasn't been cold enough to run the system, but I guess I'll know if that was just an installation problem or a bigger problem. I also worried a little bit that maybe they rushed with installing the system since I was told it would be at least a day and a half, but they could've just been a really efficient team. However, the 10 year parts and 5 year labor guarantee helps to keep my mind at ease. Thank you Metro Heating and Cooling! UPDATE: Install was more than a month ago but I still have not received any contact from the City of Saint Paul for the permits I need. This is a concern. Hopefully it will happen soon--I was told it would be a few weeks but now it's been more than a month and a half.

Our contractor used Metro Heating and Cooling to relocate an AC unit that was placed in our 1920s bungalow attic. We were extremely disappointed in the service. Warning, I'm going to rant a little. If you read nothing else, read this: if you have Metro perform any service to your HVAC system, make sure it works before letting them leave and paying the bill. The central air in our home had always worked perfectly, but it needed to be moved due to renovations we were doing on our attic. We had installers from Metro come out to move it. Apparently, we needed to be more specific and tell them it still needed to WORK after moving it. The job was around $3000. It did not pass the first city inspection due to them using the wrong tubing in the duct work. They came back out to fix the tubing. Once that was updated to meet code, no one thought to turn it on to make sure it worked? Sure enough, 90 degree heat came to MN later that week and we discovered it was not working. Long story short, it took four ADDITIONAL service calls to get the AC working. Apparently, this company thinks it's perfectly OK to leave without having everything fully fixed. The most unprofessional response came last Wednesday, after we had arrived home from a long weekend at the lake. The AC had been working on Sunday morning when we left, after 3 of the 4 additional service calls. When we came home to a broken AC unit (again, on a 90+ degree day), I called Metro. Paul, who answered the 24 hour maintenance line (side bar: I called him one morning around 8:00 am and got a call back at 9:30 am, he'd been sleeping he informed me), asked me if I had changed the filter, and informed me that any additional work would probably not be covered by the original work warranty. Well, Paul, you've had 6 HVAC people out here in the last week, did one of them check the filter?

Overall, they were excellent. The two technicians who were on-site were professional and very courteous. They explained what they were going to do and went about their job. They took the time to lay tarps down in all areas where they were working to protect my flooring. They answered questions that I asked throughout the job. It was obvious that they were very skilled and experienced. When the job was completed, they took time to explain operation of the system and what I would need to do to properly maintain it. They cleaned up all areas in which they had worked. The only issue I had was that they were an hour late getting to the appointment and I had to call to find out if they were coming. I would most definitely use them again and recommend them.

Everyone we spoke to, from the front desk, to the estimator, to the technicians, were helpful and courteous. We got estimates from several companies for the furnace, and our experience with the estimator from Metro was by far our most positive. He explained our options, educating us about the different furnace and fan choices available to us without talking down to us, and gave his recommendations. It didn't hurt that the total price of installation was below the others, also. The techs arrived on-time and completed the installation within the estimated window. They were pleasant, got down to business, and didn't leave a mess. The next day I got a call from their sales guy. It turned out there was a mix-up setting up the job and the wrong model furnace got installed. They apologized profusely and scheduled a convenient time with me to switch out the unit, which was completed in just a few hours. This kind of error could have soured me to them, except that they handled the situation perfectly. I'm definitely starting with Metro for any other work that I need in the future.

They installed the new furnace within 24 hours of my call. Overall the service was good.

The work turned out good. I had a problem with the device but they came back out and fixed it. I had asked for a permit for the unit, but it took them several months to follow up with me and provide me with a permit, which was very frustrating. The installers themselves were professional, it was the office that I had some problems with.

Overall the experience was mostly good. The pricing was also very good. I had to get my air ducts cleaned, and I didn't understand that it wasn't part of the installation. If I would have understood this better, I would have had the air ducts cleaned ahead of time, instead of afterwards. Their clean up after the job was also a little sloppy. They did not explain to me how to use the system. But they did a very good job on the installation and the operation; I feel very confident with what they did there. They were also very nice to deal with over the phone.

I have had good experiences with them. They were reasonable prices and responded quickly.
