Merriam Park Painting

Fabulous! Excellent paint job -- thorough, precise and fast. The crew was on time, courteous, respectful of my needs, willing to answer any question -- and they cleaned up every single day they were here. No paint chips (from prep) or spills on any of my sidewalks or on my deck; no pools of paint-and-water from cleanup left anywhere that I could find; and no blaring radio or loud conversations. I could not be happier with the work that was done, and with the people who did it. They are pretty busy -- I first received a bid in September of last year, and painting started in late May -- but they never made a promise that they did not keep. Because of the additional work on my screens and storm windows, the cost I've shown here is likely to look pretty high -- the trim and shakes cost about two-thirds of the total. You might find a lower price -- but you absolutely will not find better quality or better people to work with.

Merriam Park Painting did an excellent job of repairing and painting eaves and dormers on our house at 969 Goodrich Avenue, Saint Paul, MN. Carpentry work was top quality as was the scrapping, priming, ad painting. Workers were courteous and thoughtful. We would hire them again if needed.

We were very pleased with the entire process. Ed's responded to our call and said he did estimates on Saturdays. He showed up right on time. He promptly provided a very detailed, professional, written estimate allowing us to select the specific things what we wanted the company to do and what we might choose not to do. He let us know how far out he was with scheduling, so that wasn't a surprise. Three college age men did the actual work, thoroughly scraping, priming, and painting our cedar sided home. It took a couple weeks and we were impressed with the work ethic. The painters were pretty careful not to make a huge mess and to protect the landscaping. We chatted a few times each week with the painters about various questions (e.g., how to paint the trim, replacing shutters, moving gutters, etc.). The end project looks just great, and we feel we have a paint job that will last quite a while.

We waited a long time from our first contact in the summer of 2014 until the work was completed in the spring of 2015. Provider was backed up by the time we called in the summer of 2014 which is understandable. Got an estimate and then waited. We were surprised that we had to wait past the estimated due date with such a beautiful summer for doing outside work. Someone came out to preview the job late in the fall, but then did not start job. A week later the weather turned and we had to wait for spring. As far as I can tell, the company has no one to answer the phone, so the only way to communicate is to call and then wait for owner to call you back. Must be a very small company to have no one in the office, but more companies seem to be going this route, sadly. We would like to say we would use them again (have used them twice) because the quality of work is good, but the communication aspect is frustrating and we are looking for better service next time.

It went well. The final work of the painter was good. They were very professional, they cleaned up well and the left extra paint marked for me that was left over from the project.

I liked everything. They were really professional. They protected all of the furniture in the room. They cleaned up after themselves. There were three people who completed the job and it took about three days.

Exceptional quality of work! The carpenter was near-genius in experience and knowledge of wood structures and materials for homes built in the late 1800's (mine was built circa 1889). Painting prep and finish painting were top quality, both in matching existing paint colors and in workmanlike expertise. Plus, they always cleaned up after every single task! These guys are the absolute best in the business! I've hired Merriam Park Painting and will hire them again . . . . and again, and again, and again! Plus, the detailed estimate provided before work commenced left no room for nasty surprises. Top-notch!

Prompt and professional estimate, very detailed, straight forward contract. Painter showed up a little after proposed start time and finished on time. He was a little disappointed with how the drywall patch turned out. Cleaned up fairly well, left some drywall sanding dust behind. Solid job overall.

I have an original appointment with the vendor for an estimate. He called me and moved it out from a Wednesday to a Saturday. We agreed that I would call if the appointment was to be cancelled. He did not show up, and I have called back twice with no response.

They gave the estimate for free. Nothing stood out to me about them.

I wanted to paint the exterior of my house, the trim and all the stucco. I asked these guys for a quote. Very easy to communicate with, very friendly and extremely professional. They came over the inspect the property, looking like they did a thorough inspection. The quote I got providing me a full description of the tasks they would be doing, how they would approach the job and they also gave me a couple of different cost options. Eg. $X for painting the trim, $Y for painting the stucco, $X+Y for the whole thing. It was really great. Unfortunately my wife and I decided to spent our money on a couple of other projects instead, so we did not proceed with the exterior painting project. However when we get to it will we definitely get back in touch with these guys.

They did a terrific job. My windows hadn't been washed in more years than I care to admit, and they were really, really dirty. Merriam Park Painting got them sparkly clean. My house is transformed! And John and Luke (the Merriam Park Painting staff members who cleaned the windows) were extremely careful to protect our hardwood floors and freshly painted interior window trim. I am so pleased. It was worth every penny!

This is the second time we have had Merriam Park Painting do work at our home and we are again very pleased. The quality of their work is excellent! Mr. Gross came to look at our house when he said he would come and promptly sent a detailed bid. The bid explained exactly what would be done and how it would be done. Mr. Gross was willing to fit this outdoor work at our home into Merriam Park Painting's schedule, which I really appreciated because I did not want to wait until spring. The two painters were careful, very attentive to detail, and did excellent work. One of the things I value most about Merriam Park Painting is their excellent communication. Mr. Gross and the painters were very good about explaining what they were doing and were able to clearly and fully answer any questions I had. I am so pleased with their work that I will be asking Mr. Gross for a bid on some interior work.

Did not use this service provider. He was prompt about setting and keeping his appointment for the estimate.

Based on a personal recommedation and Angie's List ratings, we contacted Ed Gross. We had to leave two messages to get a call-back. The call-back was last Friday morning and we arranged for him to come on Wednesday, August 21 between 9 and noon, explaining that we were not available on Saturday. He showed up Saturday, August 17 at 11:45. We told him, again, we were not available and that we would see him on Wednesday as arranged. He told us he was booked up for Wednesday and that he would call if he could not make it. Wednesday arrived - no Ed and no phone call. We left a message which he returned on Friday morning. He was quite diffident on the phone and told us they were booked through the end of October (he knew a week ago this was an exterior job). He asked if we still wanted the estimate and explained that they had added three jobs this week. We declined the estimate. I do not understand why our experience with this company was so different from everything we had heard and read about them. For a company that, according to its website, is committed to 100% customer satisfaction and communication with customers, we had the exact opposite experience - unprofessional and very poor communication. We wasted more than a week waiting for this estimate which now puts us behind since we have to start from scratch. Ed should have told us at the first contact that they were booked out that far.

Mr. Grose came, gave me a verbal estimate. Returned a complete proposal and contract. Completed the work in a timely and professional way - excellent work! I have recommended Merriam Park to many friends.

We contacted Ed at Merriam park painting to receive an estimate to repaint the exterior of our 2.5 story home in St. Paul. Ed was on time for the set appointment and a detailed written estimate followed the next day by mail. The estimate provided was in line with three others we had received. Our home needed an extensive amount of carpentry work to be ready for paint. It was in our best interest to install new siding instead of paint. Had we chosen to paint, we would have definitely chosen Merriam Park painting to complete the work.

They are good. They are very thorough statement of work. They aren't the cheapest, but they certainly one of the most expensive. Their quality of work is excellent. I would use them again.

MPP's owner visited home to look at the job, sent an estimate/contract and returned again on time, on the day scheduled to walk through the rooms w/ his painter. Painter arrived on time, did beautiful work & cleaned up on the way out. No paint flakes anywhere, walls fully protected by plastic. Excellent.

Ed provided very prompt communication and thoroughly documented all work as it was to be done, and as was completed. Work crew was friendly and thorough. Great quality of work and cleanup.
