I use them all the time. They're okay and they always have parts available, but here they're sorry. One time I bought shingles for my roof from them. We ordered it and didn't do well delivering it. They even called me two days before that to tell me that they would be there first thing in the morning at 7:00 they will deliver the shingles to me. I had my workers, around seven or eight people, ready to put the shingles on the roof, but they didn't deliver it. The next day they still didn't deliver it. I went there and they said that it was delayed because they mixed up the schedule. I told them I had workers there and I had to pay them for one day even though there wasn't any work. I don't need that many people if the materials are not there. That's the only thing I don't like about them that they're not on schedule, but everything else is good.

They were very helpful. They made one error in the countertops that they delivered here after I had been to the store and ordered it. When they delivered it they found out that they had cut the opening for the sink in the wrong place. They had to come pick it up and replace it and I was afraid that I would be charged for it. I was going through all my slips of paper. They called up their computer information about my visit there when I ordered the countertops and they immediately thought that they had made the error. They just couldn't have been nicer about it and I was really very relieved. It was unfortunate thing to happen, but they came picked up the one that had been cut wrong put that back and replaced it rather quickly with a new countertop that was just perfect. I didn't pay for anything at all in terms of what happened during delivery. The other thing that happened was as I said I had ordered a kitchen sink and faucet I found a faucet that I liked online and they didn't happen to carry that particular one. They had that same brand or manufacture, but this particular one that I had found and wanted to order they didn't carry it, but they did order it for me. When that got delivered and I unpacked it I realized that it was way too big for my kitchen. So, I went back and asked them about it. Their policy would not have them to take it back. In fact, at the service desk a young woman told me that and I asked her if she would mind if I could talk to the manager about the permit and she told me to go ahead. When I spoke to him he also said that he acknowledged that their policy didn't carry that model. In the store it had been specially ordered and ordinarily they would not have taken it back and exchanged it for something else. In any case, they went ahead and did that for me as well and I was really looking towards that too. They were really very nice about the whole thing. I had a very positive experience with them. To me as a buyer it was important to establish a rapport with them in store because I think it helped a lot when I went back and explained that I needed to make some changes. The other thing is that going to a big store like that as opposed to a small place where we automatically get that super personal service I felt that they did a really nice job of customer service. They were friendly, patient and were thorough about things. When I came back about the countertop they made it easy to deal with them on a longer term basis on a project like this because it did take some time. I ordered things and we had a slur going in and some other things happening in the house and we didn't get around to installing all of this until sometime after I had ordered it. So, it was kind of a long term project and I thought they were really excellent at that.

Most the time, I am disappointed in this store.
Description of Work: Menards used to be such a good store. Now, cheap products, when they even have what I need. Want to get a replacement filter for a shop vac? You have about 50% chance they have the one you need.

I went to this retail location to pick up the framing materials to cap a foundation on a small addition we were working on in St. Paul. We ordered the lumber and and went out in the yard and loaded it all ourselves. No yardmen to be found to assist or help find materials. After about 45 minutes had passed (between ordering and loading materials), we couldn't find the microlam beam material we had been sold. After wandering aimlessly trying to find a yardman for a few minutes I wandered back in the store and found someone who followed me back out into the yard to look for himself. He confirmed that there were in fact no beams of the length we were sold but that there were beams four feet longer. I suggested that they cut two of them to the length we need but he couldn't make that big of a decision on his own so we had to traipse back into the store to talk with a manager who refused to work with me. By this point in the process, my employee and I had spent more than an hour in this endeavor. Without the beam material we wouldn't be able to do our work. I was so disgusted with Menard's responsiveness we dumped our load in their yard and I haven't been back. The relatively minor amount of money to be saved by dealing with Menards is more than offset by the time wasted sorting through poor quality materials and wandering around the giant warehouse and yard.

The sales guy helped me pick out 2 windows that I needed for my master bedroom. He made sure that I had the right windows for the space and was honest that I didn't need the window that I had picked (it was more expensive). I am so happy with the windows that he picked out for me!

Staff at service area desk in department provided advice on the appropriate materials to purchase for do-it-yourself concrete repairs. They were experienced and explained the differences between the different brands and types of concrete repair projects. I purchased the materials they recommended and did the concrete patching within a couple of weeks and was very satisfied with the results.

I had trouble getting help and advice. I stood at the counter while two guys chatted with each other and they both ignored me. I finally had to hunt down a supervisor to get someone to help me. They just showed me where the mortar was, but didn't have any suggestions/advice on what would be best to use when I asked for advice. (They said "anything will do.") I later found out I would could have used a different type of mortar that would have matched my stoop better.

THIS MENARDS CONSISTENTLY BEATS OUT THE PRICING AND SELECTION OF THE ''BIG ORANGE BOX'' HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE. FOR EXAMPLE, A PROPANE REFILL HERE WAS ALMOST HALF OF WHAT WAS CHARGED ELSEWHERE. THE ONLY TWO ISSUES - THE LAYOUT IS A LITTLE CONFUSING, AND SOME OF THE STAFF DON'T SEEM TO KNOW WHERE STUFF IS. AND THE PARKING LOT ENTRANCE/EXITS ARE CROWDED. HEAD TO THE ENTRANCE NORTH OF THE MAIN ONE AND YOU'LL GET IN and OUT MUCH EASIER.
