Description of Work: In search of answers to the question of how to bring safety to the patchwork of wiring in our 101 year old home, I requested bids from 3 companies. I chose Luminous, not only because they were the most reasonable (the other bids/estimates ranged from $4,100 to $36,425!!), but also because they convinced me that it was fine to take a minimalist approach to my issues. (Obviously, the other two proposed much more extensive work.) | |Specifically, Luminous cleaned up the main panel and replaced several breakers ... added light fixtures in the basement ... an outlet in the living room ... re-worked loose Romex wiring in the attic, DIY work that was left incompleted by previous owner ... plus added wired lights to 2 closets and solved the short in wiring to detached garage by running new conduit.

+ -1 moreI started using them when we moved here in August. He did a very nice job for us. We had him come back a number of times for different things. There is a difference when you get a really good person in that gets the job done. I would use them again. I would recommend them. They were reasonable. They were here several times. The owner, I don't know if he has any body else working with him but it's pretty much him.

+ -1 moreHe was excellent. I would highly recommend him. There was a charge to the come out period and then do the work. I don't think he was the cheapest and he wasn't the most expensive. He was somewhere in the middle. I got his name from someone else and not from Angie's List. The person was very happy with him. We feel very comfortable when he comes to the house and does work. We have not been disappointed.
Description of Work: The new house had different issues and so, he came out and gave us prices for things.

+ -1 moreThey called me back that running the one wire would take an extra 200 or 300 dollars. I had them do half of what I wanted them to do. I was annoyed, however they finished more than what they told me they were going to. So their upfront to me made me very unhappy but they finished off most of what I wanted. I was okay with it but it's just that when I started I didn't like what they told me to start with. The work they did is fine.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Luminous Electric for two hours of electrical labor. I had them move a wire.

We threw Ben a couple curve balls with weird requests, timelines, and last minute changes. He and his crew never skipped a beat. This is the third time I've called Luminous and have been impressed each time. I highly recommend.

+ -1 moreBen is great to work with. He listens well, remembers details and basically oversees the whole operation. Performing most of the work were his brother Ted and another electrician. Overall I am thrilled with the work done - I'd basically sat down and written up my and quot;electrical wish listand quot; and Ben's estimate was doable. I'd just purchased this house - hence all the new light fixtures on top of the rewiring. The transformation of and quot;this old houseand quot; is amazing. The work quality, the mess minimal and the final product beautiful and safe! I would definitely call Ben when I have my next electrical need!
Description of Work: Entire house (minus kitchen) rewired - replace old knob and tube wiring. Install 6 new outlets in basement, set up circuts for unfinished upstairs (to use when finished), install ceiling fan, install exhaust fans in bath and kitchen, install exterior house lights front and rear, replace front porch light and switch old front porch light to rear porch. Organize circut breaker box. Move electrical conduit from blocking laundry shoot in basement. Install new bathroom light fixture and dimmer switches in both bathroom and dining room. Install new light in hallway.

+ -1 moreI was referred to Luminous electric througha carpenter (Dady Construction) who'd been referred by an exterior painter I had hired. Ben of Luminous Electric were able to schedule within a day of two of the painting completion date. Ted arrived to do the work right on time, spent time answering a few other questions and fixing a ceiling fixture where I'd only scheduled for the front light work, and swept up both locations before leaving. He completed both in two hours. The work looks high quality and both Ben and Ted were easy to communicate with and they connected to the carpenter directly and helped me make decisions on the projects.
Description of Work: I had a ceiling light fixture reconnected (loose connection) and a rewiring and relocating of a front porch light. Ted discussed the issues and possible solutions with the front porch light, and was able to find a reasonable approach that worked fine.
