They were efficient from the very start, which involved loading the items on to the truck, all the way to the finish of the shift, which involved carefully placing them into my newly designated rooms. They arrived on time; they were accommodating; and the rate was very reasonable. I am impressed with their level of amazing sense of professionalism and expertise. The management responded to my requests in a timely manner. More specifically, they kept me updated and informed, every step of the way, which I certainly appreciate, since schedules tend to be in flux. I hired Lighthouse moving for a recent same city move. From the start to finish Lighthouse Moving exceeded my expectations. John the owner promptly returned my calls, explained in detail the costs, and was upfront and honest. The two professional movers: Cary and Tau were professional, kind, and just all-around great to work with! I will highly recommend Lighthouse Moving to any and all friends in need of an excellent moving company.

They did such an amazing job with the move. The movers were so friendly and professional. Before the move, they went out of their way to fit me into a hectic last minute change up as I had to attend a loved ones funeral and plans changed. Then again, on the day of the move they were flexible as the apartment I was moving into last minute had to install new carpets and they went out of their way to push back the time for me. Their flexibility made a very stressful situation less so for me and my family and their overall friendliness meant a lot. I wish more businesses were as human and operated the way they do. Their prices are fair as well and they got the job done quickly. I highly recommend this company.

My experience with this moving company was not as I expected. Not only did the owner, John, ask me how old I was in our initial conversation because I “sounded young,” he was rude leading up the move and his times for arrival kept changing. He also avoided my calls/texts. I had to get my mom to call him so he would answer his phone. Moving is already stressful enough and I did not feel as if I would be able to depend on him or his team. They surprisingly did show up almost on time, but John and one other mover came into my apt. with no mask on during a pandemic and did not have one- I had to give them both a mask to wear. Why didn’t he expect him or his team members to wear a mask? Also, my apt building does not allow people not to wear them. The experience was awkward and they wrapped all of my things in newspaper as opposed to neutral paper, which made me worry about my things being covered in ink. They also did not have any wardrobe boxes for my hanging clothes so they folded them in boxes. They also ran out of supplies when packing my stuff and did not tape all my boxes shut, but rather folded the tops and bottoms (can provide pictures). They also did poor wrap job on my reupholstered furniture (can provide pictures). Finally, they packed my things without thought or strategy and had to take everything out of my storage unit to repack it. When I mentioned this to the owner, he said “you and your mom were there, why didn’t you tell them how you wanted it packed?”- As if this was our job to direct the movers who you expect will do things the right way the first time. Instead they packed my bed (one of the largest items) last and it did not fit, hence the repacking. John quoted me $145/hr and changed it to $190 the day of. John’s team was nice and hardworking, but lacked what I would call common sense for movers. My conversations with John were uncomfortable, unprofessional, he made excuses and is condescending. He is also irresponsible with his team and I heard them arguing because they had not been informed about another job following mine. John also got in an argument with my mom when she asked him to pack my lamps. He said “Didn’t you see us putting the boxes and paper away? Now I have to get another box!” And he tried to make this situation feel like our fault. I’m a military Veteran with several moves under my belt and the most important thing to me is a company with integrity This is the worst pack job I have ever seen and it actually makes me sad to see my possessions treated this poorly. I also can’t believe I paid almost $1000 for one of the worst pack jobs ever- with pictures to prove it. Had I done a larger move, I could have seen this going much much worse than it did, SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE.

John and his crew did an excellent job with our difficult move. They were very professional, friendly and accommodating. They were even willing to take some of our items to the disposal site for no extra charge. Would highly recommend Lighthouse Moving to anyone in need.

Very disappointing. We needed to have furniture and equipment moved from 3 rooms to different rooms, to get ready for a remodeling project. Lighthouse Moving was scheduled to arrive around 10:30 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. that morning, the owner called and said that he didn’t have enough people to handle our job and he could not guarantee that he could provide moving services today. We opted to cancel.

Excellent work! The guys are so nice, careful, professional and strong! They moved us during a snowstorm and were so accommodating.

Great - John even repaired our dining table which got slightly damaged ( old item anyway). He did this free and delivered it back to the new home

My husband and I were very appreciative of the service we received from Lighthouse Moving. We requested movers to move all our bulky and large furniture from one two story townhouse to a three story townhouse. The movers arrived on time and both movers were very polite. The weather was blustery and snowy and they still kept a very pleasant and positive attitude. They handled our items with care and they were very efficient with the overall move, despite the weather conditions. We would highly recommend Lighthouse Moving based on rates and excellent customer service!

The movers were on time, couteous and professional. We had a lot to move and the mover provided the truck for moving and the men. Both of the movers worked very hard. They wrapped our furniture for storage and figured out how to fit it in to get the most use of the space. We had a few odd pieces such as a grandfather clock and a clavinova and they moved them easily. We will definitely use them again.

It disappoints me to have to leave such a negative review because things started out very well. John, the owner of the company, was initially responsive and cooperative about scheduling my move on fairly short notice. He was also flexible with the scheduling of packers since I didn't know for sure how much time it would take to do the packing. He told me that I could have two packers to help until the packing was done and two movers who would continue working all the way through and see my belongings to their new destination to be unloaded and some items set up. John himself ended up being one of the packers. Everything went pretty well with the packing and loading of the truck. John's employees were courteous and efficient and got everything loaded in a reasonable amount of time. The first problems I encountered were 1) in our conversations prior to my scheduled appointment, I informed John that I had a Bowflex exercise machine that I would need to have disassembled to a point that it could be moved out of the apartment and onto the truck. When they arrived and saw the Bowflex, he simply said that he was under the wrong impression of what a Bowflex was and that they would not be able to disassemble it for me. Since I needed to have everything out of the apartment THAT day, it left me with no choice but to give the building's maintenance man a $500+ gift by leaving the nearly brand new Bowflex behind. 2) In regards to the package that I purchased through Angie's List, it specifically said that boxes were included in the package. John's answer to that: "Oh, no, that's their error...boxes aren't supposed to be included." So, he provided me with some boxes...but he charged me extra for them. On the other end, at my new apartment, things did not run as smoothly as the loading had. The team seemed to be rushing, I'm assuming because they had another appointment scheduled. Even though John had told me I could have them as long as it took to get everything unloaded and to do some set-up of things like my bed (and I of course would be billed the hourly rate accordingly for the extra time.) In their rush, the movers broke a large piece of wooden art (a carved giraffe). When John could tell that I was a bit upset that this had been broken, his reply was, "Well, nobody told us that this was something particularly valuable." I found that reply to be a bit disconcerting. Had he expected me to point out all items that I considered to be "valuable" so they would handle them more carefully? Anyway, instead of offering to pay for the damaged piece of art, John stated that he had a friend who could repair it and return it to looking good as new. I agreed to let him take it to be repaired. That was two and a half months ago and I still have not received this item back. I have contacted John on multiple occasions about this and his reply is always something to the effect of, "I'm sorry...the guy's been really busy, but he should have it done in the next few days." Not once has he proactively contacted me about this. My other disappointment on the unloading end was that I was to have as much time as necessary (at my cost) to have them do some set-up and even a little bit of unpacking. Only because I stopped them before they could rush out, I got them to set my bed up...nothing else I wanted assistance with was done. Lastly, and this is where I would warn for prospective customers to beware, John does not provide you with a clear idea of what you are going to be charged in addition to the package you buy through Angie's List. When it came time for us to settle up, he had a pad of paper on which he scribbled some things, did some calculating and then came up with a total I was to pay. It was WAY higher than I expected. I had to look through what he had done and after much calculating realized that he was trying to charge me again for money that had already been paid upfront. The rest of the charges were not itemized and I really don't know exactly what I ended up paying for, but he got it to a point that at least seemed in the ballpark of what I was expecting, so I paid it. If you are working on a strict budget, GET IN WRITING FROM JOHN IN ADVANCE what your charges will be. Again, I'm not happy to be writing a negative review because John really seemed like a decent guy and he had good workers on his crew...just a bit careless in handling some items. I'm disappointed that I lost a piece of art that while not overly expensive, had meaning to me and that there was no responsibility taken by John or his company to make that right. I would also suggest that a more professional system of estimates/invoicing be implemented so that customers are aware of what they're being charged. And lastly, if something is listed in the package you're selling on Angie's List, HONOR IT...and if it's wrong, get it corrected by contacting Angie's List. Not honoring something that's right there in black and white is simply wrong.

With each of my four moves, Lighthouse Moving has always been there for me. The movers have always arrived on time, did an excellent job at wrapping/moving my furniture on and off the truck, plus they are very cordial, hard-working and keep at task to get the job done without incurring additional cost(s) to me. I would definitely recommend that you try this wonderful company the next time YOU decide to move!

It went well, the movers were polite, friendly and competent. The move required two trips, over two days. Thus, it was more expensive than anticipated. Nonetheless, nothing was damaged or scratched. A successful move!

I had the absolute worst experience with this moving company! They showed up late, truck was not big enough, held my stuff overnight because they didn't finish because it got too late, left me and my son stranded at old apt without beds and 75% of our items on the truck. The next day they showed up with another truck and then charged me so much more in order to have all my things unloaded from both trucks at new house. Complete nightmare, not compensated for all the issues and inconvenience and then charged more putting me way out of my budget for movers. Worst company! Don't know how they have a good rating here- I was taken completely advantage of! I'm writing this review now I'd of time if services because I wasn't an Angie's list member then, and I'm in the process of moving again and looking for reliable good movers- thought about how horrible my last experience was and didn't want anyone else to suffer as my son and I did!

Great for the most part. It was a very hot day to toward the end everyone was slowing down and not being as careful. However they did go the extra mile to make an additional trip from the storage unit. While they may not have been as efficient as I would as expected (they broke one lamp and did not try to move one heavy piece of furniture to he basement), they did keep working through the heat. I felt the price was high for the level of work done but I am thankful it is done.

While the overall service wasn't great, I had a few issues with this that could have been better. Most important item was the truck that was brought did not fit all the items. I have had to ask friends to help move things for me and drive back and forth numerous times with a full vehicle. They covered the 1st and 2nd floor, the basement and garage was left for me. This was the most disappointing part. The guys and John were otherwise great to work with. courteous, polite, willing to help. While I would likely not hire them again, the people I worked with were great.

Very well. John was very personable and also willing to fit me in between other scheduled jobs. His prices are fair. Both movers were very professional and worked diligently to get everything moved in a 6 hr. window. Nothing was broken and or damaged.

Fantastic! From the first phone call to the final say everything was smooth. They far exceeded our expectations for how much they would get done in the time allotted. They were worth every penny!!

Not only did they do a great job with wrapping and protecting everything but they also took good care of our very delicate and very old Steinway piano. The guys were professional and friendly and took good care of our stuff. They were very flexible when, after moving all of our stuff onto the trucks, we found out that our closing date was pushed back 5 days. They were really helpful with scheduling around our needs.

The loading, transporting, and unloading of my stuff, happened quickly, without incident. Nice crew.
