LIGHTHOUSE MOVING

It went fine. We’ve got everything moved. I didn’t really compare them to anybody with their price. They had ran out of the kinds of tools they needed so the guys still got everything moved but it was a lot harder than it needed to be. It was important for them to do a good job. They worked really hard.

Wonderful experience. The team arrived on time and worked hard throughout the day. It was hot out but that didn't stop them from doing things the right way. All items were thoroughly wrapped and placed strategically in the truck. The two guys did as much as what other companies said would take 3-4 guys the same amount of time to do.

The day of the move it was 10 minutes after the scheduled time for which Lighthouse moving was too move a couch for us 4 miles from one location to our home. I decided to call since they had not called to confirm the night before or even the day of. Good thing we did because he sounded surprised and said "we are running late". He said he would be out there a little bit later. I had to call the home owners where the couch was. Almost 1.5 hours later the couch arrived. We were quoted 110.00-120.00 max for the move and have the text message which shows this. He told us 125.00 was needed. We realize its only 5 dollars more but a quote is a quote AND he was late. We're also old fashion and believe highly in being punctual.

From my first contact, I was very pleased with the company, and service of Lighthouse Moving. John was personable, and able to move the loveseat when I needed it. He stayed in touch with me, and even answered my phone call after hours when I needed to touch base about a change. It turned out I was unable to be at home to receive the loveseat so a friend was there to receive it. After talking with him, I knew I could trust him to do what we agreed upon, even if I wasn't there, and he did. Moving the loveseat went smooth from beginning to end.

Guys showed up 40 minutrs late, but worked their tails off on a hot humid day and 2 long flights of stairs. Purchased the 3 hr deal for 379 and they finished with time to spare. I only had 2 bedrooms and livng room furniture to move and a freezer, but they wrapped everything and handled it with care.

The movers were great. There could have been better communication with the owner. We booked the service a month before. I expected a confirmation call, and the day before I had to make sure they were coming. The owner was going to call me on some within 2 hours and after 4 I called him back and he hadn't checked yet. Then the day of the move, the movers were an hour late because of extenuating circumstances that were understandable. However, despite the owner knowing they were going to be late, he didn't call me to tell me this. The movers were terrific guys, friendly, and did a great job. Based on them alone, I would hire them every time. I was very frustrated with the communication from higher up.

Several weeks ago, I purchased an Angie's List deal that included 2 movers for 3 hours plus a truck for $379 and originally scheduled the service for 9:30 am on 7-24. John, the owner, was very responsive to my questions both before and after I scheduled the service, which I really appreciated. When you call the business phone number, you get him personally, and he responds to emails promptly. A week before the move, John called and asked if we could reschedule for 11:30 instead of 9:30 so his crew could do an unload that morning. It wasn't ideal for me, but wasn't that big of a problem, so I agreed. Then he called the night before the move, as promised, and mentioned that we would be starting at noon. Again, later than I would have preferred, but not that big of a deal. The day of the move, I found out that the crew hadn't started the previous job until 11 am, and so they would definitely not be at my house at noon. They ended up arriving around 1:15. To their credit, they called me twice that morning with updates, so I was aware of the situation and not left wondering what had happened, but the repeated re-scheduling struck me as sort of unprofessional. Once the movers arrived, though, we were very happy with their work. The two movers worked quickly and easily handled our bulky dressers, a large couch, a glass table, and more. They meticulously wrapped each piece of furniture, and used moving blankets for anything that couldn't be wrapped. Once everything was loaded and we got to the new house, they continuously checked in with us to make sure they were putting everything in the correct rooms. We were hoping that they would be able to put the couch in the basement despite the very steep and narrow stairs (the house was built in 1923), and they did so with ease. As we've unpacked, we haven't found anything to be broken or damaged. We figured that the move would take a bit longer than the 3-hour Angie's List deal, and it ended up taking 4 hours, which seemed reasonable. Overall, we were very happy with the service, despite the initial scheduling difficulty.

They are a local company. They were fabulous. The cost of service was very reasonable. It took them the amount of time they estimated. They were fast. They did not break anything. They were professional and responsive. They showed up on-time. I like everything about them.

I purchased a special for my daughter's move to her home in Maplewood, not too far from my place in Lake Elmo. She had furniture stored with me and also with a friend in south Minneapolis (heavy stuff!). I had some concerns that the three-hour window would not be quite enough time, but the guys worked very fast and hit the two places with just about a half-hour overtime (half the normal hourly rate for two guys). I was especially impressed with the way they handled her not-new furniture (wrapped in plastic) and got the really heavy furniture from a cluttered garage in south Minneapolis! None of her belongings were priceless but they treated them as though they were. It was also about six months between my initial contact with Lighthouse Moving and the actually move date (she had extensive work done on floors and had all walls repainted), but I never went more than a day without a response if I contacted the moving company. I knew what any overtime would cost and how it would be paid, and I knew that there would be no extra charge for the miles driven, even though they had to get to three places. Information and communication were just excellent. I would certainly recommend this company to anyone who needs this kind of service.

It turned out okay, they needed a little guidance in the beginning, I had to direct them to wrap things up before they started packing things. But once they got some direction everything was okay and they were able to get things done quickly.

They were helpful determining how many people we needed for the job. We really had no idea. We ended up with three people and the moving truck. The guys were very polite and very hardworking. They loaded up all of our furniture and any boxes that we had packed. They also stopped at our storage unit to empty as much of that as we could fit in the truck. They unloaded everything under tough conditions because the driveway at our new house was a mess. They were very respectful of the house and careful not to damage anything. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

They did a great job. They were a little late upon arrival, but stayed extra late to help carry things up stairs for my parents. One thing got dropped and broken (a sewing cabinet) but all in all they were very careful and professional.

Excellent. They were able to complete it with in the 3 hour time that I pre-purchased. The service provided included wrapping everything in shrink wrap. They were able to bring it into the new house with out a scratch on a wall!

Friendly and professional. Fairly priced and I used the coupon I found on angies list. They were running late but luckily they were fast and made up the time while we went to close on our house! Took great care when moving our stuff.

The guys were a little late but called to say they would be. They were very courteous and careful. I especially liked that they wrap all wood items in plastic. Over all it went very well for a reasonable price.

The men that helped with the move were extremely courteous, and very careful with the things. They were 2 hours late, so it was nerve wrecking, because they didn't call us to say they would be late, we had to keep calling them, then they got through, and we were reassured that somebody would be coming in an hour. It was a little nerve wrecking, but it ended up being fine. June and July are the busiest moving months, and they were the only company available on the Thursday or Friday that I wanted. They were good on price, they had a cash discount.

John and his crew came by for a small moving job. They were amazing to work with and very responsive. I appreciated that he took time out of his day for this small job and I will definitely be using his services for the larger job in a few weeks.

It was fine. They were on time. They were mostly professional, it was a really old truck and they weren't in uniforms but everything went fine.

We were stuck in the conundrum of needing to find a moving company that would hold our stuff for ~2 hours while we were closing on the sale of our house and then closing on the new house we were buying. This seemed to be an issue with other moving companies, but John made it pretty hassle free and actually gave us a $30 discount per hour while they were simply holding our items. The movers were running a little behind schedule and were about 20 minutes late. However, our double closings took a bit longer than anticipated and the movers did not once complain that we had further thrown them off schedule. The two movers were professional and friendly and were very careful with the items they moved. They just seemed like genuinely nice people and respected our homes and furniture. I would recommend staying in contact with John and confirming your appointment the evening before. This helped to clarify any issues and John was able to answer all of our questions. I've heard so many horror stories of people having awful moving experiences and I must say that we had a great overall experience with Lighthouse Movers!

The actual work was really good - no damage, packed well, lots of padding, and carpet barrier was put down before any moving began. The biggest issue was that the crew arrived over an hour late. Originally the owner said they'd be there by 9 a.m. The day before the move he called and said they'd be there by 9:15 a.m. The day of the move they showed up at 10:20 a.m. - not a great start. When the crew finally got there they worked hard and diligently. They didn't damage anything, make marks on walls, or get the floors dirty. I thought the price was fairly high and I still haven't received a real receipt. The lead crew member hand wrote a receipt, but the owner has yet to provide a true receipt. I was having a piano moved which required a special dolly, and the owner asked me to pay the two piano movers in cash for that portion. It felt strange, and I would have felt better just giving them a regular tip. The front and back end of the move need help - the scheduling, timeliness and receipts. The middle section was great - the loading - which is probably what everyone wants anyway. I think an office manager or better organization would make this company perform better overall.

I did some research and prior to picking Lighthouse and like the way John came across in talking with him. I liked their simplistic charging method and felt John was very honest in his estimate. Seemed like the other places had a lot of opportunity to add cost. The movers were very friendly and efficient. I was hoping to save a dime and help them move, but it did not take long for me to figure out I needed to stay out of their way and let them do their job. I paid after each day and after the 1st day the charge was much lower than I anticipated due to the movers efficiency. The only thing that was slightly negative was John contacted me before the start of the 2nd day move to tell me there was a 3 hour minimum charge when it was estimated to take 2 hours to unload. It turns out the final overall charge was less than his initial estimate. We had less than ideal winter weather conditions, yet the movers kept the both homes relatively clean and they did a good job of packing to protect our items. Overall I was happy with Lighthouse moving and would recommend them to others.

My experience with Lighthouse Moving was great from start to finish! John answered my phone call promptly and in a friendly fashion. He answered all my questions, and was able to schedule moving on a Sunday, which a lot of other movers I called were unwilling to do. His price and minimums were very reasonable. On the day of the move, the two fellows arrived promptly, and were very polite and pleasant. They were well prepared and careful with my daughter's belongings. They wrapped the couches in shrink wrap. The move went very smoothly. I normally don't keep business cards around, but I have kept a couple of the Lighthouse Moving cards to share with friends who might need their services. They were distinctly better than other movers I have used in the last few years. Thanks for a great move!
