THE TILES HAD MANY GAPS BETWEEN THEM. WE CALLED RON READ, WHO HAD DONE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE, & HE AGREED TO COME OUT AND LOOK AT THE FLOOR & SEE WHAT COULD BE DONE TO FIX IT. IT TOOK 5 WEEKS, & ANOTHER NO-SHOW, TO GET HIM OUT TO FIX THE FLOOR. ALL THE WHILE WE WERE LIVING WITH A PAPER PROTECTIVE LAYER ON THE KITCHEN FLOOR. HE FILLED THE GAPS WITH A WOOD PUTTY, & PUT THE 1ST COAT OF FINISH ON THE FLOOR. THE NEXT MORNING, WHEN THE FLOOR WAS DRY ENOUGH TO WALK ON, WE NOTICED HE HAD OVERSPREAD THE PUTTY ON ALL THE SEAMS. WE ASKED HIM TO COME OUT AND FIX, & APPLY COAT #2. 3 WEEKS LATER HIS CREW CAME OUT TO CLEAN UP THE SEAMS/APPLY COAT #2. WE ASKED FOR A DISCOUNT, RON REFUSED--SAID HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. WE SENT A LETTER, STATING THE TIMELINE & OUR CONCERNS W/ THE QUALITY OF THE INSTALL. WE WERE CALLED BY LEGACY & TOLD THEY WOULD PUT A LIEN ON OUR HOUSE IF THEY DID NOT GET PAID, AS 90 DAYS HAD ELAPSED SINCE INSTALL BEGAN. YET, ONLY 33 DAYS HAD ELAPSED SINCE INSTALL WAS COMPLETE.
Description of Work: INSTALLED CORK TILE FLOORING IN OUR KITCHEN. WE HIRED THEM TO INSTALL OUR CORK FLOORING, WHICH SHOULD HAVE TAKEN 2 DAYS, INSTEAD IT TOOK THEM 9 WEEKS. THEY DID NOT ARRIVE ON THE SCHEDULED DAY TO BEGIN INSTALL, AND COULD NOT COME FOR ANOTHER 2 DAYS. BECAUSE OF THE DELAY, THEY COULD NOT PUT THE FINISH ON, AS IT WOULD NOT HAVE TIME TO DRY BEFORE CABINET INSTALLERS WOULD NEED TO BE ON THE FLOOR.

Response from LEGACY TILE & MARBLE
We told them that before we would start any project, they would need to sign a contract that would outline the terms of the project. They took a very long time to sign the contract, and immediately after they signed we started the job. Then they went on vacation and interrupted the progress of the job and wanted us to jump right back into the project not understanding that in construction, the schedule needs to be planned ahead. We fit them into our schedule as soon as we could, and continued working. As far as the quality issues that they are mentioning, In construction there are always touch ups and issues to resolve during and after the project. This doesn't mean that for every change or rearrangement there should be a discount on the price of the contract. As of today, we have finished all the work that we have promised to do, and we have corrected every issue that they drew to our attention. In fact, we have asked if there were any more issues that needed to be corrected and they responded that there weren't. We are still not paid in full, and not only that, but we were never informed of any repairs or quality issues until we started asking them to pay us. We have a contract with them, and in our contract we agreed that we would do our part and they would do theirs. Our part was to do the work, and their part was to pay the agreed amount. We did our part, but we are still waiting for them to finish their part. Veronica Read-CEO
