LAWN BY THE YARD

I was very impressed with the person who came to do the estimate. He not only gave me a very fair estimate for the proposed work, but gave free advice about caring for different areas of the yard as we walked around. He even shared valuable experience and advice about dealing with wasp nests, as we spotted on in the back. I was looking forward to working with them, but when I called to schedule the work (after getting several other estimates) I never heard back from them at all. Granted, it was at least 2 months between the estimate and my calling them to schedule, but I was still surprised that they didn't even call back - even if they were completely booked and couldn't do the work, they could have called to let me know. Nevertheless, I plan to contact them again in the spring to give them another chance, because they made such a good first impression. (Were it not for the non-responsiveness, the grade would have been an easy A.)

Great. They were friendly and informative on the phone. And when I called to inquire if there was any chance they could deliver four days early, they could! And did! Delivery people were friendly and competent, asking exactly where I wanted the rolls placed. Really friendly and professional. Great value.

It was done professionally, quickly, and I hardly could tell I ever had those ugly trees and stumps in my yard. Great to deal with and referred him to my friend who was very pleased also.

He is outstanding. He showed up right on time. He told me what had to be done, the prices were very reasonable and I plan to use him again.

I inquired about a small job that I had started myself, but was having trouble completing. He was honest about the cost and scope of the project. We discussed what type of work he could provide for my budget, which was minimal. He then told me that I would be better off doing the work myself and proceeded to help me with tips and ideas of how to complete the project on my own. It was refreshing to deal with someone who was looking out for my best interest rather than selling me on a project that I would have likely not been happy with. I found him to be very honest and would not hesitate to hire him in the future for another job.

Very good. I would have them again with no hesitation. Nick talked to me right away and came out the same day to see what I needed. We agreed on the job and it was done within two weeks time.He came out when I first called, looked over my problems which were dead or dying shrubs. Helped with deciding whether or not to replace them and he replaced one and saved two more. He also did some trimming and cutting down of dead ones including two dead trees.

He was so good in explaining everything that needed to be done. He was extremely kind. He trimmed the shrubs perfectly.

Unprofessional and no communication after bid was accepted.

After heavy rainfall, we had water come into our basement. Area above water entry is a driveway set with pavers. Pavers were sunken due to heavy water from backed up gutters creating a depression when water pooled. We thought the pavers needed to be reset. Looked on Angie's list and saw great reviews. Nick returned my call within the day. He came out the next day to examine the area. After looking at our lot, setting of house, current driveway and sunken area, he recommend that given our particular situation, we use concrete to replace the driveway. LOVED his honesty.....he does not even provide concrete service!! He easily could have reset our pavers or sold us new ones which would have lasted for a while but eventually had the same problem. This type of guy in hard to find. He really went out of his way to come to our house promptly and give us honest information. Even talked at length when he knew we would not be using him if we went with concrete. Seems like an all around nice guy. Will be calling him after driveway situation is repaired to address other landscaping needs for sure.

I contacted Nick and scheduled an appointment for an estimate, he showed up right on time and got right down to business. I needed to have my large yard cleaned up for spring. He gave me an estimate and I agreed to the price so we scheduled to get it done. Before our scheduled work day I called him and asked him to also give me an quote for mulching the front landscaping beds and back yard beds (which are huge) he had someone out to measure the next day and gave me a call with the price shortly after the gentleman got done measuring. I agreed and he came that day to do it and stayed until 8pm to finish it and made sure we were happy with everything. I would call him for any of our yard or landscaping needs. Awesome job!! Four stars****

Nick came promptly (the very day I called him), to examine the problem, spent time testing the slope and the drainage and analyzed possible solutions, which he discussed with me. We concluded that building up the terrain was unfeasible, and that the only practical solution was to install drain pipe along the length of the yard. Because ground surface was sloping toward the center backyard and holding the water in puddles above the clay soil, he needed to dig out an artificial slope away from the house, on which he could lay the drain pipe. Nick gave me an estimate and after a few delays due mainly to the weather, he dug out the terrain, installed the drain pipe and the catch basin. The next day he covered the ditch with dirt and examined the best location for the exit tile. He took note of my concerns regarding an uncovered pipe exit and was able to cover it with a gridded cap. He was very polite, concerned with providing the best solution and always thinking ahead and open to any change of plans. The end result of his work is good, water drainage improved considerably. I would certainly hire Nick again, as I appreciate the quality of his work, his honesty and willingness to do what is best for his customer.

I called and left a message asking about an estimate for leaf removal and general cleanup. I didn't hear back from anyone after several days and called and scheduled to have them come out that day to look at the yard and get us an estimate. I never heard back. It did snow the day after I spoke with them but I would have expected a call to let me know what the estimate had been. Not calling, regardless of weather, is very poor customer service and they will lose out on our business in the spring.

The person (I don't remember his name) came out to see what I needed to have done. After surveying the situation, he suggested that I increase the foundation of my garage, that I would not need any landscaping to be done. I am extremely appreciative of his honesty!!!

They are very respectful of our property and do a great job.

Nick was polite, responsive and knowledgeable. He came out and looked at the property and listed to us describe the project and offered his insight. He wrote us a bid with two options (seed and sod). He also encouraged us to select the less expensive option because he believed it would work just as well as the more expensive option. He was also accommodating when the demolition schedule changed. We will be recommending Nick and Lawn By the Yard and will be returning to him for our landscaping and lawn needs.

I piled it up on the curb and they took it away. They came out the next day and hauled it away with no trouble. It took a couple months to get the bill, but that's fine with me.

Our lawns needed a lot of TLC. We got 3 estimates and Nick was the only one who asked questions and made suggestions during our initial meeting. He outlined the cost of each option so we could choose which services to pick. He was on-time for every appointment and got started earlier than expected. We're very happy with how the lawns turned out. His cost estimates were spot-on and he even provided trap rock for free. Our only complaint is that the weeding wasn't great but we would definitely hire again.

Nick was prompt in calling back and coming over to discuss what needed to be done. Explained it may be a few days before they could start work. Showed up fairly quickly and began work. Clean-up was great. I wasn't quite sure they had completed the work ... no call ... just an invoice a week or so later. I would liked to have discussed the job with him.

Very good experience, good price for the services provided. Only problem is Nick is slow on invoicing for services! We would recommend him for your yard work. We did not have Nick do any landscaping.

Nick and his crew (I met the guy who did my work) were very professional and friendly. Nick returned my call within a day, made a quote immediately after the call back, and was able to get someone over to do the work within days. The guy doing the work did everything that I expected to be done, and he was very thorough. I'm quite satisfied with the results, and the price seemed reasonable for what I got. I plan on using this service again in the future.

The work was pretty extensive as we have lots of trees. The price that they charged was a little less than what they estimated. They did a great job.

I think I called three or so landscapers from Angie's list and Nick was the only one that actually answered the phone (good hint for others) Nick came out right away and said the lawn part of job was no problem and then he began to offer ideas for the humongous eyesore. His idea was a large kidney shaped perennial garden that used some soil to raise the level nicely to help camouflage the access manholes... then bringing in an element from some existing landscaping in our yard (Bryan Red River Rock) he used the gravel for the bed of the perennial garden and interspersed some Red river rock boulders to give the garden a unique and finished look.

I called and set up an appointment with Nick to take a look at the job. Nick showed up as scheduled and gave an estimate for the rock work. He was hesitant about the timber stairway because I only wanted it repaired, not totally replaced, and he couldn't see what lay beneath the exposed timbers. We agreed on a time & materials basis for that part of the project. Of the 3 bids I got Nick was the only one willing to tackle the timber stairway; one wouldn't do it at all and the other insisted on complete replacement even though I did not want that. I respected the fact that Nick was honest about the repair and seemed to consternate on it because he was unable to give a fixed bid. They did a great job on the rock and Nick offerred to plant whatever we wanted for free or "almost free". Even said he'd pick the plants up if we wanted. Also, I wanted a combination of plastic and weedguard mesh to help with drainage, which Nick agreed to do for no extra charge. The other 2 bids I got did not want to do this because their crew wouldn't like having to mess with it. The timber steps turned out okay and the price was pretty close to what Nick had guesstimated. I'm very happy with the work and would not hesitate to recommend this company to others.

Great! Nick and his crews attacked the lawn and quickly took care of everything and hauled off the debris. All of our neighbors have commended us in getting the lawn back in shape. Nick had great creative ideas about what to do and what not to tackle.
