Owner came within a few days, once we called to schedule an appointment per our Big Deal coupon. He thoroughly inspected the roof, spoke with my husband and provided a detailed report via email. He identified several serious issues with existing 10 year old roofing job that had not been done well, and was a second layer of shingles (for example, shingles coming loose and sliding down from not having been nailed down, nails poking out in places, holes where caulking had dried out around satellite dish installation, not enough air vents in attic or in soffits, etc.). Original scheduled date to do the work was delayed by freezing drizzle, but he quickly returned emails and phone calls, and was respectful of date and time requested, so one of us could be home. He completed the work quickly. We will definitely consider him to install a new roof once we can afford it. Meanwhile, we are confident we won't have leaks this winter. We would also consider him for interior home remodeling jobs.

Tom from Lake Region Home Improvement was very prompt, professional, and thoroughly answered all my questions. He also gave me a very competitive bid on a larger project. I would definitely consider using him again.

One call brought them to the house for the estimate on time and everything was clearly explained. Once the deal was made the job was scheduled quickly and to our needs. They arrived on time and worked very hard to complete the job in 7 hours. The trimming and flashing were done very nicely. Much better than what was torn off. The "ice and water" protective layer was wider than required by code and was also used around the chimney. They took great care to avoid damaging plants around the house. The roof modification around the chimney was done very well and a very attractive flashing was used on the bricks. Once the roof was done the cleanup was so good you couldn't tell anyone was even here. We are very happy with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone else.

After I selected Lake Region to handle the work at my house, Tom Halbur was a consummate professional. We arranged a date and time for the work to be done and on the day of the job his team was an hour early and they were done with most of the work in less than a full day. The siding professional was on a separate job and had to come later in the day or the next day. The billing of the work was very smooth as well. Unlike other contractors that I have worked with, Tom didn't require any money down for materials and he didn't require payment until all of the work was completed. Once the work was completed I called Tom and he came over for the check. After all of the work was completed, the Lake Region crew did a detailed job of cleaning up our yard. My wife and I have 3 dogs and we treat them like our children; the crew was thorough in cleaning the front yard, back yard, driveway and surrounding areas. All in all, I am very satisfied with the level of quality and service from this company. Moreover, Tom is a good guy. I have a swinging kitchen door that is quite old and I needed it removed today because we have a new refrigerator arriving on Thursday. I called Tom on Monday and we planned on doing the removal today. After Tom did the work for me he told me that it was on the house because he was closeby at a job in Fridley. He did show me how to put the door back on but I'll probably have the appliance guys help with that.

The job went very smoothly. It was a three day job due to the rain. Tom and Jay built a very beautiful deck. Even the building inspector was impressed with how sturdy it was. They caulked and used flashing under the deck door. They made sure the stair was placed exactly where we wanted it. The job site was picked up every day. When the deck was completed there wasn't even a screw or a nail left on the ground. We can't say enough great things about our experience with Tom and Lake Region Home Improvement. We will continue to give his name to family and friends. When we have projects that need to be done in the future, Lake Region Home Improvement will be the company we call. Job well done!

We chose to use Lake Region because they had replaced all of the windows in our home the year before and we were very happy with the work that was done, and felt that we received very competitive pricing (they were lowest)After deciding to hire Lake Region Home Improvement to replace our roof, We decided on the roofing material. Tom was very helpful, suggesting which colors would look best with the color and trim of our house and why.The entire job took 1 day. From start to finish, starting in the morning, the old roofing was removed (2 layers), replaced with high quality, warantied roofing materials. The contractor (Tom) came by in the morning at the start of the project checking to make sure everything was as ordered, and that the site manager understood the plan. Everything went exceptionally well. The entire project was completely finished in one day. The mess was cleaned up even though there was some snow on the ground. The roof looks great. After the snow was gone from our yard, the contractor came back to make sure that every staple from the tear off was removed from the yard. They used a large magnet throughout both front and back yards to make sure that no staples remained. I am very happy with the results and I didn't have to wait until spring to have it done.

We needed to have our windows replaced as they were the original windows and were drafty and many of the crank out handles broken. We chose to go with Lake Region because the windows that they sell are very high quality and the quote was also the lowest. They seem to be as good or better than the "name brand" windows that are much more pricey. We chose the color of windows we wanted (inside and out) with suggestions from Tom (I would have chosen the wrong color if he hadn't helped us as they don't look exactly the same as you expect). Tom showed us the different types of windows and did not try to sell us the highest priced windows, but what was reasonable for our home and what we were looking for (in the basement in a room that was rarely used, we went with the less expensive version). The windows were ordered. We purchased the stain that we wanted used on the wood surrounding the window on the inside, gave it to Tom, and he did the staining so they were ready when the windows were replaced. All of the windows were replaced in less than a day. We are extremely happy with the windows. They look great (inside and out) and they are much more energy efficient than our old windows. A year or more after the windows were finished, I broke one of the safety locks (my fault, not defect). Tom came over and replaced the lock. We would definitely recommend this brand of windows and Lake Region Home Improvement.

We can't say enough good things about the job Tom and his crew did. The windows were removed, trim was wrapped, new windows installed and caulking done. The old windows and materials were removed making sure the work site was kept clean at the end of each day. We were kept apprised of the progress of the work at all times. Tom was patient with us when we had questions and allowed us time to make a decision when we made a slight change. We have used Lake Region Home Improvement on a previous home. We had significant storm damage in 2005. Tom replaced our roof, windows and some siding. We've also used him to enclose an open stairway. We are so happy with Tom, we will be having him install a small deck in a few months. Lake Region Home Improvement is company we have referred to friends and co-workers. You can count on Tom to do an extremely professional job, be on time, answer your questions, and work with your insurance company all at an affordable price.

I would be just repeating what wrote before. He and his crew cleaned everything up to our expetations and did a very nice job. We expect to have him back to replace more windows in the near furture.

The experience went very well and I have recommended Lake Region Home Improvement to several friends and family members, who are looking into buying windows. While the work was going on they were very polite and neat. They cleaned up after both days work. They picked up and removed all of the debry from the tearout and also from the install. They worked in a very timely manner and I would not hesitate to use their company again.

They did the job very efficiently and they were personable. We had the leak in February of last year and that’s how the ice dam started. It builds up and then it melts. We had water leaking; so we called our insurance provider and let them know if they could contact someone who can melt all our ice. Then we ended up choosing Lake Region Home Improvement. The owner himself came out that same night and talked to me about it. Then they were here pretty quickly the next day or the next afternoon. They got the work done for a reasonable price. The price was covered by insurance. So, I don’t remember the price, but I think it was very competitive with the others and maybe a little less. There were some pretty strange competitors who came out and claimed that they had the ultimate tools to do it. Their tools looked dangerous to me and their prices were higher too.

Lake Region was great throughout the whole process. It was nice to work directly with Tom, the owner. He really explained everything - what options were needed and what would make the most of my remodeling dollars. I felt that he really cared about what I wanted, I didn't feel like it was just another job.
