KING SCAPES

Donovin came out to discuss the project, and, with his input, came to an agreement as to how it should be laid out. His quote was promptly sent and we agreed to his doing the job. The job went very smoothly with the crew being very friendly and professional. We are very happy with the results and would recommend Donovin and his crew as someone who will work with you to make the experience as trouble free as possible.

They were great - exceeded our expectations. Not only does the design look great, I was very pleased that they took care of several little things that I didn?t even mention. I really can?t say enough good things about the experience. I?ll be using them again for clean-up and maintenance work.

They were prompt and cleared out snow in good time. They payed attention to my request details using only poly shovels on my stamped concrete sidewalk and porch. Due to lack of space in my yard, they used only shovels or snow blower to clear snow off the driveway as I requested. Clearing the snow away from my mailbox was also completed. Getting in touch with someone was never a problem.

I found King Scapes using Angie's list and called them. I explained to Don what I needed done to my property. We set up an appointment and he came out to review the project. I had an estimate back from him in just a few days. Compared to other landscapers I had talked with, Dons estimate was very reasonable. I decided to move forward with the project and hired King Scapes. Don set up a schedule with me for the work. Don and his crew showed up on time and completed the work on schedule. They were very professional, helpful, and well mannered. This is by far the best landscaping company I have ever worked with. I highly recommend them for any landscaping job. I had a concrete driveway, sidewalk, stoop and patio installed in 2012 by Joseph Construction (also highly recommended). I hired King Scapes to fill in with sod, dirt, and grass seed around all the concrete where the forms had been removed. I also asked King Scapes to tear out a section of sod in front of my house, remove a dead bush, landscape the front of my house, square up a lilac hedge, raise the elevation of my back yard and re-seed any areas needing it, trim back branches overhanging my yard, and do a winter cleanup. They did a beautiful job that exceeded my expectations. Our house is now one of the best looking properties on our cul-de-sac. The landscaping is beautiful. I have hired them twice now 7/2012, and 7/2013 (The $3000 includes both visits). Both times they have exceeded my expectations. I would certainly use them again. Thanks Don!

We were unsure what to do with our overgrown wooded lot and needed expert advice. Donovan made good suggestions, but we decided to use a local nursery that seemed to meet all of our concerns.

Unfortunately, we are outside of the *maintenance* area for this company. Angie's List have them listed as providing service for Anoka County, however, that apparently is only for landscaping services and not for regular maintenance services like lawn mowing. Unfortunately at this time that is what we are looking for! However, I received a reply to my email within an hour, after 5 pm so they will remain on my list of favorites should I ever reach that point where I am ready to do the overhaul my yard truly needs! =) A good communicator is always appreciated.

They came out and gave me an estimate that was way expensive so I didn't use them. They seem alright though, I haven't seen them after work but at least they came out and gave their bid, a lot of people who won't even come out. I guess it was a big job so what we ended up doing is we are just having a guy and maintains it that way.

They are here before the weekend so my lawn looks well-kept when I am home to enjoy it!

Was a little late but not noticable. Recommended seeding 1/2 of shadier area instead of sodding, and then sod the last half, which was sunnier. The representative was very professional and knowledgable however he indicated due to the late spring this year they were booked and did not have availability until July, I needed the work done in May, so even though they were $100 cheaper than competing bids I ended up going with another vendor who could complete the small job in a more timely fashion. They did not seem very intersted in my "small" $2000 project.

Donovan came out quickly and gave a very accurate estimate with many different options for the grading job we wanted done. I originally wanted the grading done so we wouldn't get water in our basement anymore, and Donovan was able to describe what needed to happen, including an underground drain tile, and offered to make the end result look landscaped. I couldn't have been happier! They crew came and got the job done quickly and professionally. They left our yard looking better than when they arrived, and delivered everything they had promised they would. I couldn't be happier with the results, especially for the price which compared to other estimates was reasonable.

The job quality was very poor. Just after a few day of work, a heavy rain washed off the dirty and seed, leaving ugly trenches. They then came to repair it but another rain washed it off again. They were supposed to use something to hold the dirt and seed, instead, just a layer of top soil. Up to date, there are still a lot of area not growing grass. The front yard trenches are there and looks ugly. When they did the job, they were supposed to lay hard board to run their tool so not damage the lawn. But the lawn was ruined badly. For the charge and the quality of the work, I will rate it big fail.

They would come so late that I ended up clearing my own sidewalks all but once and my driveway half the time. I would leave in the morning and come home in the evening to the same snow. Maybe I was last on their route, but I did expect a faster turn around.

Incredible job! Bid came in quite low, and included some very creative ideas I was not getting from anyone else. Started and completed work totally as planned and on budget. The workmanship on the placement of the hardscape and plantings was amazing. The team was clean and courteous--and they really seem to enjoy their job and answering questions. What a pleasure! Will be asking for another bid this summer to work on another area in the back yard.

King Scapes moved quickly and expertly and had our lawn looking brand new in no time. We had some of our seed wash away due to a flash flood days after the initial seeding. Don and crew were back out with seed the next week to replace what had washed away. Talk about service! We never thought our lawn could look so good and now have neighbors that come up and compliment and THANK us for having such a nice yard within our neighborhood.

Don (the owner) came out to discuss our plans with us and to give us an estimate~he was quick to talk to us about the necessary permits required for lakeside work (not something all the contractors had felt necessary, even when we had questioned them about permits)which we appreciated. As we were concerned about the effect that the work may have on several old trees close to the lake , he was able to put our minds at rest as to how we could best lay out the new patio. Once the work started, Adam (the foreman) and the crew working on the project were faced with one problem after another resulting from being short staffed (due to inclement weather prior to starting our job),difficulty in accessing the site due to the proximity of the lake,and an assortment of other problems resulting from the previously mentioned trees, and their very large roots. Throughout this, they remained positive, cheerful , and most importantly, productive! A larger drainage problem, close to the completion of the work was rapidly evaluated and work done to solve the issue. The team impressed us with their ability to be flexible with the plans,and to work with us to achieve what we were looking for. Arriving on a Saturday morning, they were delayed is starting their work as a very large snapping turtle had climbed to the top of the soil pile and was laying her eggs... On finding a wildlife expert to give me some advice they then helped me relocate the eggs to a safer site! All the above was approached with a positive attitude and whilst the work went slower than we had anticipated, it was the result of genuine unexpected problems and the quality is excellent. Kingscapes, was not the least expensive of the estimates that we received however the professionalism of the staff, particularly that of Adam the crew foreman, the quality of the workmanship and the attitude of the crew definitely made it the right decision for us.

Overall, they do a pretty good job. Could be more responsive during larger snow storms (try to come out in the middle vs. just at the end).

Called on a Monday and received a voice mail; call returned and I was not in and message was left. Called back on Tues and scheduled work for that week . Work performed on Friday and at a cost lower than quoted on the phone as I had a small yard.

I liked the pre-sale consultation, attention to details, and coming out to really get on the same page with us in terms of the service that was going to be done. I believe that they did more, and we had agreed upon with how to make an increase with the cost. Things came up that were not foreseen, and they did not use it as an opportunity to gouge their pay with.

They charged me per visit and it depends on what they are doing. One time they took a tree down for me. Another time, they did some landscaping for me. They give exceptional service and are fairly priced.

Excellent - Donovan was extremely professional from initial contact, to estimating the job, to performing the service. His crew was excellent in their work performed and demeanor. We look forward to a satisfying ongoing relationship with King Scapes.

We were extremely pleased with how this project turned out. We expected Kingscapes to remove the old landscaping materials (tarp and chips) and put down new mulch. They did this (and it looks fantastic), but they also trimmed the hedges and trees on the entire property, mowed the grass, and in general made the lawn look fantastic.

Don was very clear and understood what we really wanted to do with our landscape. The crew did a very good job and our landscape looks very neat and beautiful now.

Kingscapes designer Adam Shaw worked with us to design a plan for our landscaping project. Adam was great to work with; he was knowledgeable and had good ideas but was also good at listening to us and making changes in response to our input. Adam and his crew did the actual landscaping and constructed the paver walk. We watched the walk being constructed and were very impressed with the pains they took to get it just right. An example of how Kingscapes dealt with a problem which reflects well on them: during the preliminary demo of the old walk which was replaced with the paver walkway, one of the workers inadvertently broke a chuck off from the adjoining walkway. Kingscapes dealt with this problem by extending the paver walkway further at no cost to us, resulting in a better final result than the one they contracted to do.

I spoke with Donovan after receipt of estimate and gave him the go ahead to complete the work. He said it was a small job and they could fit it in on Friday August 10th. My sister stopped by my house on Saturday August 11th and called me immediately when she saw what they had done, as I was in Tampa for the weekend. She said they had thrown mulch all over the top of my beautiful large hosta bed, and the hostas were crushed under the mulch and additionally, they had left a mess of mulch on the steps and driveway. She then proceded to text me pictures. I called Donovan Saturday August 11th and told him I was mortified by the pictures my sister had text me. I told him they were only supposed to weed the hosta bed and why would they smother the plants in mulch? His response was that they were probably trying to give it a fresh look. I told him I was mortified by his crews work and wanted him out there immediately to look at it himself and correct the mess. He said he would go to my house on Monday August 13th to check it out, and he would contact me afterwards. I came home from out of town on Sunday evening August 12th and saw their work for myself. I was extremely upset at seeing the destruction of my hosta bed. I waited all day Monday to hear from Donovan and finally called him myself late Monday afternoon. He said he had taken a crew back to my house tried to blow some of the mulch out of the bed and cleaned up. When I got home on Monday after work, the only improvement was that they had blown off the sidewalk and driveway. My hosta bed remains destroyed and what used to be a huge beautiful bed at the entrance to my home is now an eyesore of dead hostas throughout the entire center of the bed where they threw unwanted/unneeded mulch. I received a bill in the mail dated August 13th for $295. ($395.00 estimate less $100 service discount????) I have not paid the invoice and have no intention of doing so until King Scapes replaces the bed of hostas they destroyed. Donovan told me several times that King Scapes stands behind their work and would make things right, I'm still waiting.

Donovan was both professional and personable in his review of the job. He asked specific questions and then provided a bid within 24 hours. His crew arrived on time and his crew chief Adam was equally professional. There were 6 people who worked quickly and creatively making sure that my input was incorporated. The weather was extremely hot and humid and they never lagged behind. In the course of a day they rearranged several gardens, removed an entire garden bed, prepped it for sod and then laid the sod. They also cleaned up several areas and then mulched. They had creative ideas about where plantings should go and designed the new garden plans as they went. The project took a little over one day. The clean up in the end was meticulous. It was enjoyable to work with them and are delighted with the results. I would highly recommend King Scapes.
