KING SCAPES

They are scheduled for work later this month. I wasn't real happy with the "sort of" estimate. It was a little too inexact. I didn't remember it quite the same way he did when he wrote down the estimate in terms of what he was going to do. It is hard to schedule anybody over the summer. I feel like he has the experience and I want a professional job so I am going to go with him.

It went well. I thought it was a fair price.

They were great. Don was totally on the ball and personally came to give the estimate. We negotiated a bit in terms of the project size and price, and he was extremely professional, reasonable and fair about it. Great follow-up as well. His crew was clean and punctual and did a great job. I've had numerous compliments on the patio. Of course, I always want things to cost less, but they did a fantastic job and landscaping work isn't (I've realized) cheap. They accidentally knocked a hose spicket off my house during the excavation and Don pointed it out that day and set-up a plumber to come out and fix it free of charge. That was done very quickly after the project was completed. I'd use KingScape in the future without hesitation, as well as refer them to any of my friends or neighbors.

Don had to fit me into a very busy schedule. We had a couple of days and times for the job. On the day they came, they arrived on time and got right to work. I was extremely impressed with these guys. They were hard working and very kind. It was an extremely positive and pleasant experience. I am thrilled with the results. I am satisfied with the work, however there is a sloped area in my back yard that is washing out due to the unususlly heavy rain we've had prior to the new grass establishing a mature root system. The garden mulch looks great--I was pleased to see that they weeded too. Being early spring, they accidentally weeded out some sprouting plants that look kind of like grass. When I let Donovan know, he immediately delivered replacements to my door. Donovan was easy to work with, called to follow up on the work and even charged me less than the quote when the job came in under budget (he really wasn't under any obligation to divulge that since I agreed to his quote, so I appreciated his honesty.) I would definitely consider using King Scapes again for future yard projects since one of these years I'd like to add garden edging

Don was very knowledgeable pleasant when he came out to give us an estimate. He toured the grounds and exchanged ideas with me on how to achieve the best results on our budget. He created a plan and gave assurances that the work would be done quickly and efficiently, and he delivered. His team was there bright and early on the day work was to start. Don showed up around the same time and we went around the house again with the team so they knew what to do. The team worked the entire day with no incident. They did a few unexpected extra things like ringing a pine tree in back with extra mulch, and cleaning out window wells. They also hauled a bunch of accumulated branches and yard waste at no extra cost. They removed all of the lava rocks and liner that surrounded the house, and replaced with mulch. They installed rubber guards in appropriate areas. They removed weeds, bushes, and saplings from our long-neglected terraced garden (previous owners let it go) and even removed a chain-link fence that had once been a dog run. They salvaged the "good" plants and layed mulch. They tore up an old garden bed that ran then length of the driveway and layed sod down. At the end of the day I did notice that they had left two 12" posts in concrete that we remains of the chain link fence in the garden. I requested that the crew remove those as well as per the agreement. It was after 5 at this point and they agreed, albeit a bit grudgingly (I can understand wanting to go home too but this project was not cheap and should be done right!) The next day I noticed there were some other cut-corner issues such as an area that was not sodded; and no rubber liner around the bush area in front of the house. I called Don about these issues and they were fixed within a few days. Overall I was very pleased with the work and quality, and our neighbors thanked us for cleaning up that old eyesore! We would definitely use King Scapes again, though I am hoping it will be a while!

We were selling our house and my husband is always out of state w/business. I tried to start our lawnmower before the first showing of the house, and it wouldn't work. Looked up lawn care on Angie's List and called a few. KingScapes was one of the few that called me right back and worked with me on a temporary contract, until our house sold. Awesome to work with, do a very good job.

The crew turned up on schedule, and worked steadily all day long, even in hot weather. The whole process was done in less than a week- and it was a huge amount of work. He had the right number of people on the crew. Don and all his crew were friendly, professional, and Don and his project manager were very knowledgeable. I love my new backyard.

They arrived on time and applied herbicide to the lawn killing all plant material. Returned a few days later to prep and reseed the lawn. Restoration was successful.

King Scapes performed a miraculous makeover! It went very well, We were pleased with the work and the people who did it. Only one part was not good: Quite bazaar, but every single Purple Emperor Sedum that was planted all died (there were 12! of them around the yard) and now we have big holes to fill. It may seem small in the scheme of the work done, but for our not-light investment and care for the plants, losing all of this one kind of plant has been really unexplainable and disappointing for us. UPDATE: We received this lovely note from King Scapes! THANK YOU! I was sad to hear about the crop failure on the Purple Emperor Sedum and wanted to make sure you were aware that everything is under warranty, we are happy to replace them! Adam will be by in the Spring (let us know when would be most convenient for you) to go over everything and make any necessary replacements. They are responsive. As far as the company is concerned, they are helpful. In terms of responsiveness, they are quick; he came the same week and turned the quote around in a few days. I would use their services in the future but I will get a couple of more quotes because their pricing is a bit high. We would probably use them but I will see what other people have to say too, as it will come down to pricing.

Everything went quite well. The crew was exceptional and responsive. The work was very well done. The only very minor negative was that we had to sweep some rock pieces from the street after they left.

Everyone in this company was great to work with! They worked in 100+ degree heat, were nice to our kids, dog, and neighbors, and did a great job on the yard. My only complaint was that our patio had slight drainage issues, but as soon as they heard that, they were back to fix it free of charge and with no hassle. HIGHLY recommend.

I sent them an e-mail in May and they came out the same week but they never provided me with a bid. The guy who came out was very nice but he was not comfortable giving me an estimate based on the size of the project. He told me that he would have someone contact me for giving the estimate but no one ever contacted me. He came when he said he would come and he was very nice and very professional. They were responsive but didn't come through with the estimate. I didn't follow up with them and ended up finding someone I felt more comfortable with.

We used Gertens design service. Mary Lou did an excellent job with a plan for plants, shrubs and trees. She provided 3 landscape references. After consideration we decided to use none of them and instead went straight to Angie's List. There we found 3 highly rated landscape companies. We were impressed with all 3 companies, but selected King Scapes. Donovan Tegg president of King Scapes was easy to work with and provided a reasonable price. He said they would do the work on June 29th and at 7:30 in the morning they were at work just as they said. Ours was a rather small job and the workers were able to rap it up by 2:30 that same day.

I have signed up with them again but the work hasn’t been done yet. They were pleasant to deal with. They did what they said they were going to do. I thought they were of good value. I will use their services again in the future.

Don was professional throughout. He came when he said he would, He and his crew worked very efficiently and carefully. They communicated any issues or concerns well. They were amenable to our minor last-minute requests. King Scapes followed up to make sure we were delighted with all the work they did, which we were. All that, and a significantly lower bid than other contractors.

Overall, it went well. They were always on time. They did a good job. I would use their service in the future.

It went very well from start to finish!

Called and came to make estimate when I wasn't there. Price seemed good so went with them. First attempt was pretty pathetic - job half done. I called back and they came out and tried again. Then I did some of the worst of it - getting creepers off trees up a ladder. Called them to come a third time and they finally did what I would call a B grade job. They didn't want to get any of the weed trees out by the roots basically because it was "too hard to do that" - they claimed that putting some chemical on the stump was an acceptable substitute - a claim I'm dubious of. The job was a bunch of hard work and in the end they did it reasonably well for the agree price. But I had to have them come back twice.

I called on Saturday to schedule an estimate/bid for yard work ... I left a message and Don Tegg called back quickly (very refreshing!) and we scheduled an appt. for him to provide an estimate for the following afternoon (on a Sunday no less!). Don arrived on time and we walked the property and I addressed what I wanted done ... he asked questions to ensure he didn't overlook any aspect of the job, and after we covered everything he took the necessary measurements. He told me he would send an estimate via email the next day (and he did!). I called upon receipt of the estimate (Monday) and asked when, if I selected his company, he would be available to do the work. He indicated he could work me in the following morning or the following week if the next day didn't work. I was WAY excited that it could be accomplisd so swiftly and said I wanted to move forward and how would we work the payment process? Don indicated he would send me a bill AFTER the work was completed (what a refreshing change!!). When I came home from work on Tuesday my yard looked great!! King Scapes did a fab job from start to finish! I will definitely use King Scapes again (... my neighbor told me she wanted their name/number as well). I have had other companies provide yard work and this experience was hands down the best!! Yeah! I am very happy with the entire experience!!

There should be more companies like this in Minnesota. Yes, I've had some bad experience in the past that had me wondering if there were still any reputable companies out there. Kingscapes emphasis is on service and quality. I have a cabin up in Northern Minnesota and spent a fair amount of time away from home in the Winter. This does not give me much time to concern myself with plowing snow in the Winter. I could rest assured that if more than an inch of snow were to fall that the snow plow crew were on their way. Arriving at home after a weekend to find a driveway cleared of snow was definitely the answer. The past Summer was no difference when it came to lawn care. I spent my time caring for the lawn up at the cabin and once again relied on the Kingscape crew to maintain and care for my lawn at home. Last but not least. The suburb I live in has natural drainage and over the past few years the erosion had caused some extensive damage to the side of my property. Donovan and his team built a boulder wall approximately 30 feet in length and installed drainage to control the extensive amount of water that was causing the erosion. Many truckloads of dirt / fill were brought in to level the area thus controlling the flow of the rain water and vastly reducing the erosion. It's been a pleasure to do business with a company like this. The biggest benefit is having the peace of mind that you get a job well done with the service and quality one would expect.

I happened to find this company through a mowing company I talked to about something else. I was looking for someone who would work within my budgetary constraints and would show me some detail about the plan without charging a design fee. Donovan created a sketch on his computer that basically showed how plants would be laid out. This was what I was looking for, but never got from other landscapers. Once hired, they were there within 2 weeks. They worked efficiently (almost unbelievably so; I came home from work one day and much of the work was complete) and even took time to be nice to my 3 year old son, who was interested in what they were doing. We've gotten lots of compliments on the work since it was done.

We had an excellent experience with this company. They really listened to what we wanted and had great suggestions of their own. They worked with out budget and chose plants and landscaping appropriate for our yard and our dogs. They stuck to their original estimate. The work was done in a timely manner and the service was professional. We were impressed by the clean up after the work was finished. We have gotten many complements on our landscaping. We were overall very happy with our experience and are hiring this same company to do our lawn care this summer.
