The only reason why we did not work with him was because there was another person who had worked with our designer before, so we thought that it would be better if we worked with him. If the other person had not worked for our designer we would have used the services of Kern Lawn Service Inc. We would use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: I used Kern Lawn Service Inc for an estimate for landscaping. The job involved removal and planting of new plants and shrubs. I used their services six weeks ago.

+ 0 moreIt never started. The woman on the phone was always pleasant, but there was no follow-up.
Description of Work: I called Kern's 3 different times for an estimate to do spring clean-up, fertilization, de-thatching and aeration. Each time I was assured that someone was coming over in the next day or so. No one every came, and I gave up and went elsewhere. They are only a few blocks from my house, so they don't have the excuse of distance.

+ -1 moreMany mowing companies came to bid on the job and either did not feel they had the right equiptment or did not want to mow a new lawn on a slope. Kern had no problem cleaning up the yard after winter, then mowing throughout the season. This yard is 3/4 on a slope with lots of trimming to do around trees and rockeries. The yard looked beautiful all summer, thanks to Kern. They even cut up and hauled away some really big branches that fell during wind storms at no extra change.

Description of Work: Didn't show on the scheduled date. Called him back and said he forgot about it. Rescheduled for two days later. He showed and we went through my yard showing him what I needed. He went through the motions of measuring but I never heard from him again or got an invoice for an estimate. That was a month ago. End of story.

+ -1 moreThe patio and landscaping look terrific. We have done some landscaping ourselves in the past and could never have pulled off this project. Kern's crew was efficient, professional, and did a great job. John Kern helped us plan the project and remained flexible and responsive throughout. He came in on budget and worked well with the other contractors (fence and pergola builder, electrician, sprinkler installer) to bring it all together.
Description of Work: Removal of some very large and established shrubs and trees from the front and rear of the property. Removal and recycling of river rocks and large concrete pavers. Installed a large (675 sq ft), wrap-around, clay paver patio. Installed a 12" drain box and tubing to run water away from the house out into the garden. Buried phone, cable TV, and trenched for Xcel to bury electricity. Graded back yard. Landscaped with sod, limestone edging, and mulch in the front and back.
