footings dug by hand, which was good as deck was being built amongst the trees. green was asked to keep most redwood heartwood boards from original deck as possible. replacement boards to be kept full length. not to cut any left over or salvaged...leave the length. crew acting unusually, husband came home and i alerted him. they had been cutting the salvaged redwood into the lengths appropriate for building a dock. putting the cut wood boards into a black trash bag. loading into vehicle. messed up salvageable board length, not an eyelash fluttered. we had been very specific about how the redwood would be handled. dishonest crew. used nail gun to install boards - thought there would be clips. not offered any choice. boards awkwardly spaced.(some too close, others to wide). difficult to keep deck and the board seams clean so as to avoid rot from gathered fallen leaves, seeds, etc. the idea of the deck (including our design and input from kelly green) is great, not looking closely, the design is beautiful and it fits well into the situation it is in. aspects of the job were never quite completed. such as trim piece up stair case and railing/support for hot-tub cover. never called them back as we were so disillusioned.

Kelly was recommended to us by a work-mate. He was described as delivering excellent quality and was the lowest bidder on that job. Our experience: Kelly was prompt for every appointment, from the initial high-level design and estimating meeting through to the final walk-through. He took our rough idea and delivered a beautiful deck on time and on budget with a number of unique features (planter, accents on the arbors, beveled railing) we would have never thought of. His crew was working by 8am each day, put in a full day's work, and cleaned up after themselves each day. Final product: The deck looks great. Friends, family, and neighbors agree Kelly did a great job. We're very pleased with the value and quality. After completion we heard from two other acquaintances that they had worked with Kelly previously on a basement, 2 decks, and an office remodel. They were also pleased with the work.

I had contacted Kelly out of desperation of a "floating foundation" my boyfriend and I had built. We followed the instructions while building but when it was all said and done, it wasn't level. Kelly came out, took a look at it, provided a quote for him to do it, and he offered his expertise free of charge if we wanted to do the work ourselves. We obviously wanted to fix the problem very inexpensively so we opted to do the work ourselves. Kelly offered to borrow his "transit" equipment to us free of charge and even dropped it off, set it up, and showed us how to use it. Even though he offered it for free, we did compensate him for his extreme kindness in providing a solution to our problem on his own time.

KELLY HAS GREAT DESIGN IDEAS. HIS PRICES ARE A LITTLE HIGH. THE DECK IS WELL BUILT AND WE GET COMPLIMENTS ON THE DESIGN. WORK CREW IS SLOW AND LEFT SOME MESS. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION ABOUT WHAT WAS OR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE. I WOULD WORK WITH THEM AGAIN BUT CAUTION TO GET A DETAILED CONTRACT WRITTEN.
