The salesman showed up on time and was informative and friendly. He took the time to listen to what we were looking for and gave us a couple of estimates that would resolve our problem.

It went fine. The service person showed up on time. Did a thorough job. Checked for cracks and leakages and cleaned burners and sensor. Inspected everything. It was good to get a clean bill of health on the furnace.

Furnace was leaking water when A/C in use. Made appointment for 12-2:00 for Monday 7/19/10. Person did not show within that time frame. I called them at around 3:30 and they said they would check with the service person and get back to me. Had a quick call back, the service person was tied up longer at job before mine. Still does NOT make it okay that they didn't notify me so that I wasn't wasting my time. They sent someone else that day who arrived around 4:00 or so. He seemed to be in a hurry, cleaned out the drain line and said that should take care of it. We were gone for a few days, returned to find that water was still leaking. Called up Kath again and they sent someone first thing the next morning which I think was 7/27. This time the person was on time and he did a replacement of the drain line and there was no additional charge.

Pleasant on phone making appointment. Caleld ahead and was on time. Gave money off for coupon.

The service guy was timely and seemed to know what he was talking about. He seemed to be well prepared and communicated about all the stuff he did. He made me feel that he knew what was going on.

I orginally had a Kath Heating service technician do a fall furnace tune-up. He did the tune-up and reported to me that the furnace was 22 years old and nearing the end of its safe operation. He recomended replacement. With the incentive of the $1,500 Federal tax credit currently available on energy efficient furnaces, I had Kath Heating and two other top-rated Angie's List companies give me replacement proposals. These proposals covered the Lennox, Goodman, and Carrier brands. I decided on the Kath proposal for a Carrier furnace because Carrier had a 10 year parts and labor warranty. The other brands had a 10 year parts warranty, but only covered one year of labor. Kath installed an 80,000 BTU Carrier Infinity Furnace with an Aprilaire whole house humidifier. The Kath service technicians were on time for the appointment, and did the removal of the old furnace and installation of the new furnace in about seven hours. They were very courteous and careful in my house, and they cleaned up thoroughly when finished. They explained the operation of the new system and answered all questions. I was very pleased with their work. Total cost of the new system was $5,200. I expect to get back approximately $1,750 from the Federal tax credit, Xcel Energy rebate, and Carrier rebate.

They were very quick to respond to our call. They fixed it on the spot and no waiting for parts. They inspected the furnace also. They did a great job.

The technician arrived on time. The furnace is still working, so it seems he did what needed to be done. The cost included a new filter.

The technician was nice and professional. He did what I felt was a thorough check up of the AC and washed the coil. This was the first summer we had owned the house, so I felt reassured to have him come out check the system (and say it is in good condition) and answer a few questions I had.

Old A/C (attic unit) totally died while I was on vacation and needed to be replaced. Wife contacted Kath. Sales rep. came and looked at system took measurements, etc. I called to schedule the work on my return (Monday) and they came on Friday to do the install. Crew arrived promptly in the morning and stayed late because they were so close to finishing the job. The only thing left when they finished the A/C was the electrical hookup for the air cleaner. Electrician came and finished the hookup in a reasonable time frame. The placement of the coil/air handler had to be change to accommodate new code requirements for an emergency drain pan. They found that the old venting for the air cleaner was the wrong size and corrected that problem. Also found out the old system was too big. They installed a smaller system (2.5 ton vs. 3 ton). Good cleanup. New unit is exceptionally quite. You cannot hear it at all. You can stand next to the compressor and not hear it. House cools down much faster. Only problem was some wall board was damaged. Company is aware and will be scheduling repair.

Before they arrived at their scheduled appointment, I had a third company give me an estimate. This was in the same $6500 ball park figure. When the sales rep. came, he knew what he was doing. He evaluated the situation and in 15 minutes he had an estimate for a Carrier 15 SEER for a little under the $6500 he estimated over the phone. Plus, he said if I went with them, that they would be out within 2 days to do the work. Since my AC was totally out of commission, I would be bumped up in priority. I have had work done by them before and I was happy with them. So it came down to their 15 SEER Carrier or anothers 15.5 SEER Lenox. I decided if the 15.5 Lenox people could get it installed in a couples of days, I would go with the higher efficency Lenox. If not, I would go with this company.

The initial est process went well and we were happy with the punctuality.

The sales person steered me away from more expensive models and recommended a basic but efficient boiler. They did not do a heat loss calculation like they should have (nor did the 5 other installers I got estimates from), but according to my calculations they guessed right. The price was over a $1000 cheaper than estimates from others for a identical installation. The boiler installers were very experienced, polite, considerate and clean. They explained a lot about the boilers functioning and care. The electrician who installed the control had clearly never installed one before, but he admitted this on Friday and sent someone who had read the directions who fixed it on Monday, who thoroughly explained it to me. All in all a very positive experience with these guys from the pitch to paying the bill. After an enormous amount of homework I feel like I got a great product, for a good price, from a company I will not hesitate to call if I every have a problem.

The person was prompt for our meeting and was very friendly. We reviewed our needs for the project and he informed me that they are not licensed to install water heaters in St. Paul. I was looking for a company that would be able to perform all of the work for me in order to keep costs lower so we chose not to use Kath.

Although I explained the problem when I called to schedule, the service person who showed up thought he was going to be tuning up my furnace. He explained that he didn't know much about duct work, but examined the problem and offered to reschedule with someone who knew more about ducts. A general "afternoon" appointment was arranged on a certain day. I had to call them the day of the appointment to find out a more specific time. I was surprised and dismayed that the very same service person came to fix the ducts, since he had said he didn't know much about the problem. The heat vent works now, but I'm not confident that the work was done in an efficient or quality manner. And I was charged for the first service call, even though they sent me someone who couldn't fix my problem!

Good experience with Kath. A/C unit was installed on the day promised and work was completed in one afternoon. Price paid was as quoted. Received 2% discount for paying cash on day of install, after work was completed. Kath prefilled forms for both Xcel Energy ($350) and Carrier ($50) rebates. After rebates total cost for project will be $2400. Only drawback was cleanliness at end of job. Some sawdust on basement floor after installation of electrical conduit and other a/c conduits. But in general, was very pleased with their work and would definitely hire again.

They're very prompt and very good at telling you what they've done and what is wrong. I've used them in the past and I'd recommend them to others.

What a relief! I'm delighted with the advice, product, service, and general integrity of Kath Co. Thanks to Angie's list I found this company and they were better on all counts than the 5 bids I'd gotten from phone book options. Brad Hansen came to my home to provide initial information. He was polite when I asked many questions, arrived on time, gave accurate advice re. size to buy, and didn't pressure me into replacing the air conditioner just yet(a Carrier that runs fine after 30 yrs. Installers, Blaze and Dustin, were respectful of my property and completed the job while I went back to work for the day. The 2 stage furnace (for constant room temp) is 95% efficient with a DC motor for energy savings. By paying by check the day of installation I got a discount. When I realized that my old humidifier needed an adjustment, I called them and the service tech (Gary) met me exactly on time during my lunch break and I could return to work with mission accomplished. Bob arrived at the scheduled time during a fairly heavy snow fall with lots of morning traffic. He was very knowledgeable and I had total confidence that he knew what he was doing.

FOR THE INITIAL VISIT (DIAGNOSIS AND FREON ADDITION) KATH WAS MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE THAN OTHER COMPANIES WE HAD CALLED. AFTER THAT WE WAITED OVER A WEEK FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE. ON THE SECOND VISIT THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT SIZE PVC COUPLINGS TO RECONNECT THE FURNACE PIPING.

JIM MANUS DID A GREAT JOB OF EXPLAINING FURNACE/AC OPTIONS AND IDENTIFYING MANUFACTURER AND UTILITY COMPANY REBATES OTHER COMPANY'S ESTIMATORS DID NOT. INSTALLATION ON-TIME AND COMPLETED AS PROMISED. JIM FOLLOWED UP SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER INSTALLATION TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAD SENT IN REBATE FORMS BY DEADLINES. ALL AROUND GREAT JOB.
