Johnson Creek

We've worked with Mick Johnson and Johnson Creek since 2001. Talented in many ways, Mick is particularly good at transforming small spaces into beautiful, functional areas. He designed our original back and front yard - pavers, raised flower beds, pond/waterfall- and has helped us maintain and improve our landscaping right up to April, 2015. He and his crew are prompt, knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with. He personally oversees the project and is at the site initiating the project, checking in during the process, and making sure to review everything with us at its completion.

They did a nice job. They did a lot of work tore out the old landscaping around the house and put in new landscaping.

Hi crew quickly and efficiently completed the project within the agreed upon timelines and cleared away all construction waste. The final project has garnered multiple compliments! We are very pleased with the results and I highly recommend Johnson Creek.

It took a while from bid to installation because I decided too late last fall that I wanted a patio.... Mick came over mid-fall to give me a bid. His bid was comparable or a little lower than other bids - including the cost of more expensive baked clay bricks instead of concrete pavers. By the time I said "yes" however, winter was coming -- so we ran out of time. Then spring was so slow to come. I called Mick in early April to confirm that I wanted the work done ASAP since company is coming for a graduation - Mick said he'd be here as soon as it stopped raining/snowing. And he was -- He called Sunday 5/5 (he apologized for calling on a Sunday) to say he'd be here the next day - and Mick, 3 guys and a lot of equipment showed up promptly at 7:30. The demo was a little difficult since my yard is fenced and the gates are narrow - so everything had to be dug up by hand and hauled in wheelbarrows. The old concrete was way over-built with lots of re-bar - so it took a lot of sledgehammering. Around 1, they got it all dug out (about 10 inches, I'm guessing), and started putting in the gravel and sand foundation. Then started cutting and laying the brick, and finally tamping and filling the cracks with sand. They cut all the edge bricks to a perfect semi-circle, then layed the soldier course to finish it off - cutting "keystone" bricks every 4-5 bricks to makes sure the bricks stayed tight. They were done and cleaned up by 7 - in time for us to take the lawn chairs out and enjoy an adult beverage on the new patio before sunset It is beautiful. And I'm really happy Mick recommended the clay brick - it cost a little more - but looks great with our old house. The crew was very professional; the crew leader, Adam, checked in regularly to see whether I had questions, or to make sure I liked how it looked.

They were excellent. The contractor listened to what we wanted and a year and a half later we are still very pleased with the work and the way it looks.

It turned out very well; we were very happy with them. I would strongly recommend them for any city lot landscaping job.

In some deconstruction, in the tear down, they ran into more problems than they thought they would. He didn’t come back and get us for more money. I’d go back to him.

Again, I never had this company do any work for me. They never game me the opportunity to consider them since the promised bid never materialized.

I called on or about June 10 for a recommendation and estimate for some landscape work in our back yard. A new fence required the removal of some rather old licac trees, and as a result we lost the privacy screening they provided. We wanted to replace them with something that would provide the privacy we lost. I called Johnson Creek and left a message, which was promptly returned. We made an appointment for the initial visit, which was relatively soon. Mr Johnson arrived on time and we discussed the project. I felt confident that we had a common understanding of the project, and was fairly comfortable with Mr. Johnson. He acted in a very profession and friendly manner. I asked for a recomendation for the project including installation. I was expecting it cost somewhere between $5000 and $10,000. I was told he would have something in about a week. The first visit was on June 21. It is now July 15 and I have not heard anything from them. I understand that things can happen and time frames missed, but I would have expected at least a phone call to advise me of the status. I have since had two more firms provide me with project plans and costs, so I no longer need or desire the services of Johnson Creek. I gave an overall grade of D only because the initial visit was on time and I felt that we nay have had a good chance at a business relationship. Obviously I was wrong.

Mick did a great job with our landscaping throughout the entire process. He returned phone calls promptly and came to the house a couple of times to review plans and work through budget constraints. Mick was a great partner to meet our budget and also provide guidance for what additional planting we could do over the years. The crew was professional and did a wonderful job with the new area without harming existing lawn and cleaned up beautiful before they left. Mick not only gave me detailed directions on how to maintain the new landscaping, he also walked me through other areas of our yard that were landscaped a few years ago and gave advise for additional plants/transplanting. Overall, we were very impressed with Mick's expertise, design, plant choices, communication, and value. We highly recommend utilizing Johnson Creek.

They did a great job and it looks great. We were thoroughly happy and we recommend them all the time. There was one thing we weren't completely happy with and they came back and fixed it.

everything went very smoothly from the first visit and estimate. The job started exactly when stated it would. The workers were wonderful. They were friendly and courteous. They did an excellent job, and were done in three days. The patio is beautiful, and is the best home improvement we've ever done, because we spend A LOT of time out there with our neighbors. What could be better than that? In a few years, I am going to rip out the deck on the side of the house and have them connect a matching patio.

From the first call for an estimate to project completion was a little over a week. The final cost was less than the original estimate due to the project being less complex than originally expected. Looking at the two walkways, you would never know that there was any new work done. One side note: The contractor that installed the new driveway was very impressed with the pavers and couldn't believe how many years they had been there.

They came up with a good plan right away. They got all the work done with in a couple of days. They showed up on time to do the work for me. They were very courteous when they were there working.

The entire job went smoothly and the end result is wonderful. We've had good comments from everyone, even people who stopped while riding by. Very positive experience!

I scheduled an appt. with Bob Snyder and he arrived exactly on time. He was very thorough and professional and spent about a half hour measuring and explaining options. He also brought pictures of other work they have done and explained why the type of wall I needed was expensive. I have a very large, steep double lot with an old retaining wall that is starting to break apart. In the end, I decided to postpone the project because I need to replace my main water line (which runs right through the proposed project!) but I would definitely hire Johnson Creek for any future projects. Bob was not pushy at all and was very generous with his ideas.

Mick was very accommodating and flexible with scaling back original plans and also with modifications and additional requests as the work progressed. I trusted Mick and his crew to do their work while I was away from the property doing mine. I wasn't disappointed. The work was done well and any further requests I had were dealt with in a very reasonable amount of time. They were also neat and tidy. Mick's choices of shrubs and trees make the yard more visually interesting and will provide more privacy with time. The neighbors have even offered their own comments that it looks very nice. It was a pleasant experience. I will likely work with this landscaping company again.
