John was great to work with: Very detailed, gave us many options with the pros and cons of each, stayed in constant contact with us during the project, sending pictures and calling to discuss problems he ran into. He is a craftsman who takes pride in his work and the floors look amazing -- almost as if he had replaced the floors with new wood.

We have used JB in the past and he always does a great job. This was no exception. Thank you. The water based product is nice as it is faster and does not smell and the finish is excellent.

John was great to work with. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go with water based or poly finish and he walked me through all the options and the pricing. They even did a sample spot the first day so I could be 100% sure. In the end, I picked water based and it looks fantastic. It was able to stay in the house because the finish odor was minimal and even walked on the floors the same day with the water based finish. That was a big part of the decision. I expected the house to be a little dusty, and I did have to clean a bit when it was all done, but there was no where near the dust I expected. I am ++100% satisfied with the service, color, and finish of my new floors.

JB's has done hardwood floor repair and refinishing on three of our homes. He is fastidious and the floors always come out looking pretty close to perfect!

Fantastic. John worked with me to come up with the project that I wanted. He made some recommendations and had good ideas. The job went without a hitch - I handed him my keys, they moved furniture out and made my floors beautiful. When I came back, furniture was moved back in and there was zero dust anywhere. I am going to use him again for my porch.

Fantastic! The work was done while we were on vacation - we just handed over a key and the furniture was moved and put back. The floors look so much better than before. I only wish we had completed the work earlier. We'd definitely hire John again.

John came out and gave us a detailed estimate and was very professional and knowledgeable. He gave us a good estimate of the time required for the sanding, staining, and varnishing and he asked that we be available for the stain color sampling on the floor. We asked that our new stain color be less "red" than the original shade. The crew of two experienced floor finishers showed up promptly on the scheduled day and for the following 5 days as well. First, the did a superb job of protecting the walls and unaffected areas with plastic floor to ceiling. We had upholstered walls in our dining room as well as a fabric tented ceiling that they covered completely. They did a super job of minimizing dust (no such thing as dustless!) and we really appreciated the extensive surface protection and prep work. Some planks needed to be replaced and they fitted them flawlessly as well as fixing some squeaks that had arisen with the water damage. They checked with us to make sure that we were happy with the stain color before proceeding and were helpful in our decision making. Our floors are smooth and beautifully stained. They were very nice workman and left the house in great condition. Honestly, the floors now look better than the original floors! Highly recommend JB Flooring!

While it is true that he charges $40 for estimates (deducted from a final invoice) John was prompt in his response, was able to fit us into his schedule earlier than originally thought and worked mightily to devise a stain color that worked with three different kinds of wood. He and his crew did an excellent job sanding and stabilizing the wood. They used an slip resistant top coat on the treads. We forgive him for the $40 charge.

JB would not provide a bid or visit the job site without charging a fee. I told them that if they were confident in their bidding process, they would not need to charge potential customers for bids. Although the refinishing/staining project was fairly large, they refused to compete for the work without charging me first. They also claimed to have worked for someone else on my street, but could provide a name. Red flags for me.

We had used JB's 3 years prior to sand/stain our main living area. John was very informative and listened to our concerns regarding potential dust and smell that we assumed would occur while the job was being done. We had used a different vendor at our previous house and were concerned about these issues. John suggested we go with the Street Shoe oil/water system over traditional oil based polyurethane. Less smell and a higher resistance to scratching etc. His process also makes the job virtually dust free. Needless to say, when we decided to redo 3 sets of stairs and an upstairs hallway...we call JB's. The floor he had done 3 years ago still looked new. JB's matched the color of our stairs and hallway exactly to his previous custom staining. Timely, outstanding work, for a fair price. We received several quotes 3 years ago for our work, but knew to just call JB's the 2nd time because of his outstanding work.

Did the job on the timetable we agreed to. It took as long as they told us it would take. The installer was a real craftsman and the floor turned out beautifully. It was a little more expensive than others but worth it.
