Description of Work: Complete remodel of bathroom. Installed tile on floor and wall, completely redid shower, with tile and new plumbing fixtures. Also installed new vanity and toilet.

Description of Work: J and L Home Renewals built a custom floating deck in a remote part of my backyard. I told Jay this deck is to be used by small children and he added a caster to the gate to prevent it from becoming out of alignment if kids stepped on it frequently or swung on it. I appreciated his keeping in mind the function of the deck and taking action to prevent a possible problem. This was his idea - not mine. He also carefully sanded the railings, etc. so small hands would not get slivers. He left the site in good order. It was easy to communicate with Jay. I would not hesitate to use his company again.

Description of Work: I needed to have my deck replaced and the floor of a 3 season porch repaired. The floor, deck and joists had rotted. The deck and porch were built on an addition to the house, so there was a low slope roof underneath to consider. Jay came out to see the scope of the work and figure out what needed to be done. There were several parts to the project the scope of which could not be determined until the deck and floor were pulled up. The major unknowns were whether the roof under the deck would need to be replaced and the extent of the damage to the porch floor and walls. Jay gave me estimates for the deck replacement based on the material selected. We signed the contract knowing that additional work would be needed. I felt that l could trust that the additional work would be reasonably priced. As it turned out, the roof didn't need to be replaced and the amount of work needed on the porch was not too extensive. Jay took off the deck and railing and removed the joists that were rotting. He cleaned up a lot of rotted wood. The porch was left to dry out, while he rebuilt the porch walls and worked on the deck. New joists were installed. A barrier was installed to separate the deck from the porch. He installed a plastic barrier under the deck boards, so that it would minimize moisture going through to the roof. The railing was added, which took some customizing to make it fit. Jay reconfigured a drain pipe and replaced some woodpecker damaged siding.
