First, the painting job. Great. Exactly what we were looking for. Everything went smoothly. They painted of most of the rooms in the house about 10 years ago and we were very happy then, so it was a no-brainer to hire them again this time. Second, I cannot say enough about their ability to go above and beyond the job at hand. While they were over painting, I took it upon myself to do some yard work, including my "attempt" to put up Christmas tree lights on the house. I'll skip the details, but I fell off the roof and and landed on my back. Chris heard the commotion and came to my aid immediately, and helped get me up. Nothing was "broken", except for my pride and a window and screen that got punctured when the ladder fell, but I went to the ER just to be safe. When I came back, they had already repaired a broken window pane, and took a broken screen to the hardware store to get repaired. (P.S. I'm fine. Just some bumps and bruises - nothing serious). I can't tell you how happy and relieved I was to find this fixed as I hobbled my way back in the house. The fact that they just took it upon themselves to do this says a lot about them. If we have additional work in the future, I know who I'll call and I'll be recommending them to others as well.

The paint and plaster in our master bedroom and second floor hall/staircase were in bad shape -- cracking, flaking, bubbling, etc -- in short, a job well beyond our DIY abilities. Joe Faust came out promptly to give us an estimate and was able to work us into their schedule within a few weeks. After five days of work by Hughes and Faust, the results are amazing -- both spaces look great, probably better than they have since 1921 when the house was built. And other than a very modest additional cost for a closet that hadn't been part of the original estimate, the work came in right on budget. Both gentlemen are personable, completely trustworthy, and know a lot about old houses. We'd already chosen the paint colors we wanted on walls and trim, but we took their suggestion on a paint treatment for the cast iron radiators and really like the results. We would not hesitate to work with them again.

Joe Faust has painted the interior of our house on two occasions, and we have been thrilled with his work both times. The rooms that he has painted look great. He is very professional and very good at what he does. He is also a really nice guy and very pleasant to deal with. Oh, and he's also very willing to work with clients while they make up their minds about which colors to choose.

Price-wise, they were competitive with everyone else. I also looked at the ratings they got from other members. I would absolutely tell others to talk to them. They are excellent. I don’t remember if their price was in the middle, but they were in the range of everyone else that I talked to. I would use them again.

It went really well. They were fast and their work was perfect. Tried to hire them again last year when we had the outside of our house painted, but they didn't get back to me in time. I assumed they had more work than they could handle, which wouldn't surprise me. They're great. Found them on Angie's List. FYI, not sure I correctly remember the amount we paid them, but I can tell you that at the time we felt it was a very good deal, especially considering the quality of the work.

Spectacular! A professional job that was done on schedule and as quoted. The crew respect the sanctity of our home and was incredibly pleasant. I look forward to doing more business with Hughes and Faust in the future.

Professionals from start to finish. They were on time every time and came when they said they would. Most importantly, their estimate was exact and their work impeccable. They turned so-so woodwork into something beautiful. You could really tell that they care about their work, and they care about the houses they work on. Best of all, they are local to my neighborhood and appreciate the quality and beauty of old houses.

Joe Faust bid the job promptly, and the work started within a week. The painters that were here each worked for Faust and Hughes for 8 years and did a wonderful job. The plaster repairs were perfect, and the job was completed in two days. I am happy to recommend Faust and Hughes to anyone, and if the need arises, I will use their services again.

They did an excellent job of power washing as we had some mildew problems. They were neat and clean and clean up after themselves. The crew was very pleasant to have around. We are very pleased with our home and highly recommend them.

Hughes and Fausrt have done wonderful work for us before, so I called last fall for an estimate in anticipation of having the work done this summer. They called to let me know when they were ready and were just watching the weather. They came and power washed when we were gone. Then Joe Faust called to come with color chips. When weather was good, 2 workmen came and started. They ran out of stain, but returned early the next day and finished. They replaced a heavy grill on the upper deck and a bulky potting stand on the middle deck. I'm so pleased with the professional look after several years of doing it ourselves.

Did not use this vendor due to cost.

They did provide a detailed and prompt estimate. However, I decided to go with refacing cabinets instead. While they were going to do more than just paint the cabinets (windows, ceiling, radiator, etc.), the price was not substantially higher for refacing. Plus, they paint the cabinets with the doors in place and I wanted to have the hinges replace on the doors. I'm a little intimidated to do the hinges myself since I've had problems getting doors to hang right in the past after they've been removed. The cabinet refacing will take care of that issue.

Company was great. One of the best, that we've worked with. Estimates were prompt, fair, and accurate. Work was professional and turned out great. Highly recommend.

They were very friendly likable people. They did a good job were pleasant and we would use them again.

Paint is peeling on 2 sides of house. Joe's bid was to paint the 2 sides rather than the whole house. It was a good suggestion, but my goal is to change the entire house color. I've decided not to paint but rather to side in the next couple of years.

They are excellent. They did fine work and they are very professional. They were patient with color changes and we will use them next time for painting.

The professionalism and skill of Joe Faust is impressive. The repaired area is identical to the surrounding area, making it impossible to tell that any work was done. I will do business with them again.

I was very happy with the final product on the paint. This company really took their time and paid attention to detail. I appreciate work of this nature because if there is a mistake, it really stands out. They did a great job and I was very pleased.

Joe came out and looked at the room. He gave us three scenarios/options of what he thought needed to be done. He referred us to a dry waller to replace the ceiling and possibly the walls. He was to give us estimates for all three options 1. paint and wallpaper; 2. prep and paint new drywall ceiling, skim coat walls and then paint; 3. prep and paint all new drywall, both ceiling and walls. The dry waller never returned out call. Joe's estimate was only for the 2nd option and came 10 days to 2 weeks after he said he would get it to us.

Unfortunately, this was not our best experience with this company. I had used them in past years and contacted them to do some work at my parents house. They came out as promised and delivered an estimate. Work was promised to be completed early to mid summer. There was a bit of confusion about payment, which we settled easily. They checked in with my parents and me a couple of times during the summer. At one time, they said we'll be out next week. They never showed up and never followed up with an explanation. It was very disappointing. I had great results previously and expected the same this time.

We had a great conversation, and he was full of good ideas. I was a little surprised when the bid came in for a single coat rather than two, as we'd discussed, but enjoyed talking to him. We've decided to hold off on the work for the time being.
