The carpet looks very nice. BUT, we paid for the service they offer to move furniture so we didnt have to do it ourselves. When the work was complete our newly painted was were in terrible shape. Marks on many walls, chips out of walls, every corner was scraped down to the drywall. It has now been 2 weeks since we placed 4 complaint calls asking for a manager to come look at the damage and we have not gotten a single return phone call returned.

I was going to recarpet my entire house. My experience with the initial Home Depot salesman (Mike) was very positive. I set up an appointment to measure. Cost would be $50 that would be applied to my purchase if I decided to go with Home Depot. They would not give me a time window for measuring until the day of the appointment, so I had to take the day off. In the end, they did not show up until 5PM. I am a consultant, so that cost me a day of wages. They called me to review my quote. They informed me that it would probably be about two weeks before my carpet came in because it was such a large order. They also told me I would probably have to open a Home Depot credit card to pay for this. Since I have the money in my savings and wanted to pay without using credit, I went to the store yesterday just to ask them if they would take a cashier's check. They said yes and I could just pay at the customer service counter. Today, I went to the bank and got a cashier's check made out to Home Depot. When I got to Home Depot, they said they could not take a cashier's check. I asked to speak to a manager, but a number of clerks kept coming by saying they could not take the cashier's check. They didn't seem to care that I was going to walk out and they were losing $8500 worth of business. They told me I could write a personal check, but I don't have that type of balance in checking. I canceled the order and they said they were "sorry". Then I had to go back to the bank and hopefully, they reversed the transaction correctly so the money is back in savings. I am going to have to follow up with the bank next week to make sure. This is costing a lot of personal time. Now I am back to square one and will have to find another company, get another measure, etc. More personal time. I did insist that they refund my $50 for the measure, which they did. I will never shop at Home Depot again.

My girlfriend and I are in the process of getting carpet for our downstairs living room, we got quotes from a number of places including Home Depot. The Home Depot experience is a little weird in general, a guy comes out and takes the measurement but won't talk options or prices, then you get a quote the next day and it's kind of a take it or leave is approach. It's a little weird, but no big deal, the big issue is the customer service on the back end. When we ordered the carpet we were told to expect 7 days for the carpet and then 1-2 days for install. Now the carpet arrived on time at the installer but they are so swamped they can't install until the 22nd, two full weeks after the expected install date. We have furniture coming and a party planned for, what was to be, two weeks after the carpet but is now two days before the install. We've been working for the last two days to get the install date moved up but after, no joke, about 6 hours on the phone and in instant messaging with customer service we're still just were we started. The very upsetting thing is that no one at Home Depot seems to take any responsibility, everyone I talk to says "I understand that must be frustrating, but it's not my fault and there is nothing I can do for you." The carpet is not even installed and we already regret this decision, if they can't even get the install date correct what happens if the installer breaks something, or messes up the installation? How can we trust that Home Depot will stand behind their promises? Quite frankly, I don't think I will ever shop at Home Depot again after this experience.

My wife ran home from work real quick to let the guy in for him to measure. He took an hour and half just to measure. He was measuring every little thing. For the flooring they wanted some tile, they wanted to know where to install it and the tile cost. My wife asked about a cheaper carpet and they showed some product that is not even advertised, cheap carpet. That was just waste of time. They are the cheapest. I will not use them again.

We spent about $2500 for their services. They were fine and they did a good job. We had a slight problem, but they came back and fixed it promptly as well as quite willingly. The price was pretty consistent with what we had seen elsewhere. We kind of chose them mostly because we liked the carpets there better than what we had seen at the other places. They were neither cheap nor expensive. Their service was fine. They were extremely responsive. We would use their services in the future too.

It went like this: I felt like I was trying to gain access to a club with a secret handshake and a password. We had started the project at Menards in Apple Valley only to find that they sold us all the wrong materials and oversold us on tools and accessories. Finally cut bait on that one, returned the unused stuff, and gave Depot a shot at it. Same thing as Menards as they tried to take full advantage of our lack of knowledge and experience. One person tried to sell us over $700 of power tools alone based on our experiences with Menards. Another just plain hollered at us for not knowing anything after I objected to 15" of throw away every third plank. "That's just the way it is! Purchase accordingly!" Come to find out from the ONLY worthwhile employee that is NOT the way it is and that we were not installing the product correctly. Granted, they were helping us mop up a Menards mess, but at this point, they had every chance to takes us by the hand and espouse the company line, "You can do it, we can help." We went to them with a blank slate concrete floor willing to buy and wanting to know how it's done. What they did do was try and turn our lack of knowledge and experience into tool and installation services sales. Last guy had me believing that I needed to buy flooring with underlayment attached, bulk underlayment, and vapor barrier. Now at this point, I knew better, but I just wanted to find just how far he would go when I said "Anything else I need?" To date, we sit with bare concrete downstairs because between the big three of home improvement stores, novices such as ourselves well into our maturity are nothing more than c*** in the retail water. I expected Home Depot due to their association with Joe Gibbs to be different, and even tried a different location that was way, way, worse as this one was a contractors' store. Leave it at if you walk into a Home Depot not knowing what is plumb, square, on center, and above grade, to them, it is a license to steal.

They were very good. I liked the people who helped me at the store. The guys who came out to install the carpet did a great job. They were very fast. They got the work done in a very reasonable amount of time. So I really liked that. I liked the price that they charged since it was a good deal. There was a sale that was going on at the time I got the work done and so the installation was at a reduced rate. It was very good and everything is holding up very well too. It looks good. Their responsiveness was really good and there weren?t any delays. If I had to get more carpeting done, then I would definitely go back to them.
Description of Work: Home Depot did the carpeting for most of the upper level in my house and for part of the lower level couple of years ago.

- The saleswoman is nice and professional and sold us a patio door that qualify for government rebate program (U factor < .30) - When the installation crew came and install the patio door, they installed the older model that did not qualify for the program (the door they brought has U factor .32) - When I complained, they said that it is the item that were given to them and they need to install it because they tore the existing one already and I should deal with the head office people. - I made several calls just to realize that nobody return my calls. - Subsequent dealing with the sales manager from Home Deport Home Service was a complete h*** as he tried to offer us a different model with lower quality and cheaper models. We need to make several trips to the store (under his direction) to pick a different model only to realize that he did not want to give us that model. - After few months of wrangling he finally said that the original correct model that we ordered finally arrived at their store and they will install it for us. - A different crew came again to replace the patio door with the correct model and seems to me that they did not know what they are doing. - I need to supervise them constantly as they made many mistakes (put the frame too much to one side, wrongly adjust the door level, etc) - When they left, they did not install the screen door properly (as the screen was the wrong size) without telling me. - I need to make several complain call again to have a different person come, make measurement, and wait several weeks again to get the proper screen door. - Overall it took 5 months from the time we signed the purchase deal to actually have the patio door completely and properly installed. - It is absolutely the worst experience we have ever had with the a home contracting company.
Description of Work: - Replaced the patio door in our basement with a high energy efficiency rating patio door that qualify for government rebate program.

Project still not complete. Experiene to date: Lousy. Credibility of Home Depot staff is in question. They all were very sympathetic to my problem, but none of them were able to resolve the issues.
Description of Work: Contracted for purchase and installation of Pergo flooring in early November 2009. Product delivered week of 11/09/09. Installer showed up 11/11/09 and removed existing floor covering. Installer began product installation on 11/13/09 and immediately said that product was defective. Went to store on 11/14/09 to complain. They agreed to exchange product and schedule installation for 11/16 or 17/2009. Product was exchanged later on 11/14/09. Installer appeared on 11/23/09 and determined that replacement product also defective. Went back to store same day, was offered and I accepted a product upgrade for orig price. Installation was promised for 11/30/09. New product delivered 11/25/09. Installer called 11/27/09 to say installation would not occur until 12/7/09. To be continued............

Excellent work. Efficient, friendly and hardworking people. The carpet is beautiful, not a single flaw to be found. They cleaned up and after it was done it was as if they had never been here, except for the new carpet! They were a little late but had called and given us the heads up. The work took about 2.5-3 hours once they were here. We are very happy with the job and will definitely have more work done by Home Depot. This was our first time using Home Depot. for hired work.
Description of Work: We had carpet replaced in our lower level family room and staircase. They removed the old carpet, cleaned up the floor and installed new padding and carpet. About 13 stairs.

Shopped 4 different vendors for this project. Checked all out on Angie's List. Went with Home Depot due to best value. Visited store, picked out carpet and pad desired, made arrangements to have measurement done. Individual came out to measure within a few days. Store was supposed to call me the next day with final cost but I did not hear from them. I called and they gave me pricing over the phone. I stopped in store to go over details of the installation, committed to the project, carpet was ordered and I was called approximately 2 days later by their installation crew. They told me they had the work order and as soon as the carpet arrived they would be in touch to set up an install date. 1 week later they called and said the carpet had arrived. We set up an install for Friday, they called Thursday night to verify and give an arrival time. Tony and Todd from CREW2 showed up on time, went right to work and had all carpet installed by 4:00 that afternoon. Very impressive installers.
Description of Work: Installed approximately 165 SY of carpeting and padding in my 4 bedrooms, hallway, 12 stairs and living room. Removed old carpet and padding.

Somewhere between ok and not so good. We wanted one with rubbed bronze hardware so it had to be special ordered. We wanted HD to install it, so that was arranged at the same time. The ordering part was fine, and the wait for it to come in was ok, but getting it correctly installed was more difficult. The first installer arrived as scheduled and on time, but with an obviously damaged door. It had a chipped front, ripped screen panel, and paint streaked trim piece. He installed it anyway and said Andersen would send the parts. I should have refused it, as it went down hill from there. Multiple attempts to resolve with Andersen (in the Philippines I think) would only ship the screen to the store and lost the order for the touch up paint and trim. Multiple attempts coordinating with the store, and Andersen, and Crew2 installers finally got all the parts to the house and they are now installed/replaced. Crew2 was fine, not their fault. Andersen/Home Depot customer service not so good.

Overall very pleased with installation and the carpet itself. Time will tell how well it stands up to our 3 cats and German Shepherd! Existing carpet didn't do so well. Two men did the installation. They were polite and professional, even asking if they could use the bathroom. They took about 4 hours from start to finish. They did a good job along a carpet to wood floor and carpet to vinyl transition. I can see where the seams are when the light hits it a certain way due to a very slight bump, but I think that will settle down once it gets walked on a little bit. All along the floor boards it's nice and tight. I did find one area on one step along the wall where the carpet was cut about 1/4" short. But the fibers cover the tiny gap well and I doubt others would even see it. It just happens to be right at my eye level and I was looking hard to evaluate the work. Would use them again when it's time to replace the carpet in our lower level areas.
Description of Work: Price included purchase of 89.67 sq ft of StainMaster Platinum Plus carpet, pad, installation, removal and disposal of existing carpet and pad and 2 year warranty. Installation was for the living room, 6 steps, hall, master bedroom and closet, additional bedroom and closet upstairs and hall closet.
